Recommended Reggie for Fastest Growth??

I think the biggest factor in retaining my growth was keeping my ends moisturized. About 4-5x a week I apply a olive/coconut oil mix to my ends and my hair has been looking great ever since !

Also, what works for one may not work for another. I am not a big advocate of bunning/protective styles in general, but my hair has done just fine. This would not work for some of the other ladies on here. You have to figure out what works for you.

It took me all of the 2 years I've been on my hair care journey to learn how to care for my hair, and I'm still learning. I've finally found a basic routine that works well for me, but what works for one may not necessarily work for another. But I will give you some tips that have helped me:

1. Co-washing: I used to believe that, as a black woman, I couldn't wet my hair more than once a week, and when I did I had to shampoo it thoroughly and slather luster's pink oil all over it :lachen:. But now I realize that my hair actually retains moisture better when I wet it, so I wash my hair with conditioner 3 times a week.

2. Detangle only in the shower: This has saved me a lot of unnecessary breakage. I only comb my hair when I'm rinsing out my conditioner with a wide-toothed comb.

3. Don't strip your hair: If you shampoo you may want to try pre-pooing with an oil or conditioner to help preserve your hair's natural moisture. I rarely ever shampoo my hair (only when my hair is really coated), and when I do I use a sulfate-free shampoo. Most of the time I just deep-cleanse my hair weekly with ACV mixed with some conditioner.

4. Deep Condition at least once a week: Like I always say, DC'ing covers over a multitude of hair transgressions . Make sure you pay attention to the protein/moisture balance of your hair. I usually deep condition twice a week with a moisturizing conditioner, and every other week I use a protein conditioner to make sure my hair stays strong.

5. Low-manipulation/patience: Be delicate with your hair, be patient, and watch it grow :yep:.

Protective styles, IMO....It is the best method I use to keep my hands out of my hair!!!!
(no combs/brushing and no heat)

The longer I keep my cornrows in the more growth I see. This helps keep me motivated. I may install new hair but I always keep in the same cornrows for at least 2 months...don't forget to MOISTURIZE!!!

sew-ins/half wigs are my friend :yep:

Consistency and fine tuning- Don't try too many different products or techniques at one time. Listen to your hair, if you try something "new" and your hair responds badly, DON'T DO IT AGAIN regardless of what the ladies here on the board do. Everything does not work for everyone. While trying "new" things, introduce them to your regimen one at a time, so you can easily identify whether or not it worked.

This is SOOOOOO true! I had to learn this myself. For example, a lot of the ladies talk about protein so I loaded up on protein products and ended up overloading. Now I know that a little protein goes a long way and my hair appreciates moisture. I'm no expert either, but I have learned that despite what it looks like in the beginning, consistency is the key. K.I.S.S. (someone around here uses this acronym)! Happy growing!

Keep those ends/hair hydrated and protected is the best thing to do..(bunning) IMO...also along w/ DEEP CONDITIONING...for retention.but for faster growth..probably a vitamin that will boost your growth or a growth aid will help.
