Hi ladies! I am a relaxed, SL product junkie in need of ONE good regimen that will get me to APL by August.

I have lots of DCs and regular conditioners, as well as Mega-tek. I'm also open to any supplement-lifestyle suggestions (I'm seriously considering Chlorella and even the raw egg drink).

There's just so much info! Its OVERLOAD!!

In your opinion, what is the best (complete) regimen for the fastest hair growth?

Thanks in advance lovelies!:drunk:

Do you use heat to deep condition? That makes a huge difference for my hair, baking the conditioner in. That and roller setting.

I would cowash, deep condition and roller set and keep it moving. Use minimal heat and try not to use direct heat. You may not get faster growth but you will retain your growth which is probably the real answer to your post--retention not speed.

Stay away from heat with the exception of the hooded dryer for conditioning and/or rollersetting. :)

1. Limit direct heat.
2. Get a Jilbere shower comb.
3. Take a little time to explore what methods/products work best for YOUR hair.
4. Put down the growth aides until you know how to keep your moisture/protein balance in check.

Great thread. I'm trying to graduate in the APL class myself this year.

Little to no heat
Protective style like your life depends on it
Apply growth aides, drink water, eat healthy, add some exercise
Vitamins
Stretch relaxers
Moisturize and don't forget your protein!

I agree focus on retention not growth... that's where most people foul up.

Have you measured how many inches you need to get to that?

You can see from my siggy that SL to APL for me was about 7"... it's not going to be
the same for you but something in that ballpark. It took me well over a year to get to APL from SL. Your pics look like you're somewhere in the middle of SL/APL.

I usually just daily co-wash and wet bun 90% of the time and straighten only once/twice every 3 months. I also do intense protein treatments like Emergencee and Aphogee once every 3 months. I do nightly oiling with coconut oil. I wear a heat cap and do hot oil treatments like once a week. I also deep condition with heat once a week. That's helped me RETAIN most of what I grow.

Yes! Using heat to bake that conditioner in is very important. Also, finishing with a cool water rinse to seal the cuticle. Low manip. (bunning) and KISS is the key.

Many have seen great results with hair weaves (sew in mainly) included in their regimens.

This is what got me from SL-APL:

-Wash and dc (w/heat) once a week
-Airdry in a loose bun
-Baggy at night
-Protective style during the day
-Stretch relaxers

Do you work out? Working out increases blood flow to your scalp and makes your hair grow faster. Biotin, kelp and fo-ti (aka gotu kola) are also great for growth

Continue to deep condition twice a week - your hair will be happy. Clean scalp and hair are important. Protective styling and no direct heat are key to rataining length - hair is always growing, it's what you keep that will get you to apl.

You may be able to gain a bit of speed on the length by using growth aids, but, as someone suggested, until you learn to keep your moisture/protein balance in check, you need to be careful with the protein-based growth aids like megatek. Taking a multi vitamin and maybe adding biotin or msm will be good - make sure you drink a lot of water. Try multi that has chorella in it - Nature's Way Alive is a good one; however, you can gain similar results by eating well and exercising.

Ultimately, you just need time.

I started out with this regimen which got my hair back to health:

-pre-poo before every wash[mild protein or moisturizing conditioner]
-co-wash
-moisturize and seal
-braid-out

repeat 3-5x a week.
rebraid at night (do not brush or comb) if not washing

clarify when needed and DC with heat or steam afterwards [steam and heat made a huge difference for me]

no heat
no combing braid-outs
low manipulation.

Drink lots of water, exercise, eat well, take vitamins and Omega 3,6,9 pills, get enough sleep, find ways to relieve stress, do low mani, deep condition at least 1x per week, moisturize twice daily, minimize heat use, and protective styling.

This is what has helped me.

I'm no expert...but for me sealing my ends daily has really helped me. Oh yeah, and protect your hair at night. Cross wrap, or use a silk scarf/pillow case, etc.

Consistency and fine tuning- Don't try too many different products or techniques at one time. Listen to your hair, if you try something "new" and your hair responds badly, DON'T DO IT AGAIN regardless of what the ladies here on the board do. Everything does not work for everyone. While trying "new" things, introduce them to your regimen one at a time, so you can easily identify whether or not it worked.

Not sure if this has already been added, but what you do on the inside is also important...remember, growth comes from the scalp, not from what you put on your hair. All the stuff on the outside is important for retention, but if you want to maximize growth, ensure you are eating a healthy, taking a good multivitamin each day, flaxseed and fish oilo supplements are also helpful, as well as exercising at least three times a week and drink plenty of water. If you don't take care of your body on the inside, you can't expect optimal growth. Just my two cents!

well most of the ladies told u everything, I just reached the beginning of apl, and in aug 08 I was just at sl....but I just didn't cut or trim my hair.....and I just started DCing, so I would suggest if you are relaxed, stretch your relaxer, don't cut or trim, if want to use a light growth aid instead of OCT or MT, I would suggest Beemine, Gro-aut oil, patience hair oil, or boundless tresses, dcing, I use shampoo, but it might be different for u, use ayurvedic powders and oils....pre-poo with the oils and powders in the conditioner....some ladies use baking soda and water or baking soda in conditioner, don't use much heat(direct heat), try not to comb at all, that helped me a lot......protective styling is good too, I wore a fake bun for my whole season last semester, and my hair grew from the start of my shoulders until past my shoulders, but not apl.....and that was like in 3 months......HTH

Use a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, pomade and oil, then moisturize ends first, then wear hair in a protective style.

I can tell you what not to do
1)Don't wash too often 1-2 per week...much more is too much manipulation..instead just wet your scalp with water
2) Do not use too many products ...that way you don't know how each thing is affecting you ...try 1-2things at a time .this way you'll know the good from the bad
3)do not jump on too many bad:ohwell:(band) wagons
4)do not expect magic from any products ...all growth aids can do is "aid " your hair growth
5) do not spend all your time thinking about how to grow your hair "a watched pot doesn't boil" enjoy the rest of your body..exercise, read, play, work, soon you'll see your hair right were your want it ...growing

KISS, excersice, relatively healthy balanced diet, vitamins and RETENTION (means different things to different people...but most people here bun and no/low heat).
