Prudent1's 2 yr update pics

Wow, you have done a great job! Your hair looks great! Do you mix something w/ the Megatek to keep from shedding?
reeko43-Thanks! No, I don't mix it for a couple of reasons. Even though I'm practically natural (about 90% of my hair is at this point) I am not protein sensitive like some naturals are. I pour some MT into a color applicator bottle I picked up at Sally and put it on my scalp. Sometimes it's on dry hair, sometimes I spritz it with water. I do a scalp massage and make sure I rotate application patterns (horizontal vs diagonal etc.) periodically. I do that about twice a week. I let it stay on anywhere from 5 minutes to overnight (depending on what else I have going on) then CW out, apply lv-in, seal, PS. If I leave it in overnight I wear a plastic cap under my bonnet/scarf. Plus, IRL I am so anal about most things:giggle:. I read page after page about how others were using OCT, MTG, and MT before purchasing MT. I knew I still had highlights and would def need to keep DC and reconstructors in heavy rotation. So IOW, I'm all about some preventative maintenance as opposed to reacting once damage has occurred.
Wonderful progress Prudent1 and I love how detailed you are w/ your reggie and products.
ms.blue- Thanks! After reading other updates and knowing how we are on the forum, I tried to post the stuff we like to know about each other:yep:.
Beautiful hair! I also love your Not Of This World purple shirt! Love c28! :)
Mrs.TheBronx- You're hair is beautiful in that avatar:lick:. Yeah, I love C28 too! Gotta rep my G-O-D:heart::lol:.
Congrats Prudent! Keep it up.

BTW it's great to put your face with your profile name - sort of. :) Every time I see your name I think of the man with the sword. :)

Butterfly08- You mean my avatar? It's a female soldier fully clad in armor. That's why I have Eph 6:13 listed underneath her:grin:.

@Prudent1 how do you use the mega tek and how often

also you mentioned homemade leave ins would you mind sharing the recipe
Iwanthealthyhair67,
I use the MT about twice a week. I apply it to my scalp only via a color applicator bottle. I massage it into my scalp. Leave it on for a minimum of 5 minutes and follow up with a CW. I have put a plastic cap on and slept with it on overnight several times w/o incident as well(I'm not protein sensitive and did not experience and extra shedding or breakage cycles in the beginning as some here did) . I'll list my basic leave in ingredients. I have two 'mixes'. One is lighter and applied via a spray bottle ($1.50 at Target) used primarily during the hotter months. The other is creamier/heavier and used you guessed it, during the colder months. The heavier mix is applied using an old condish type bottle or color applicator bottle. I squeeze the mixture into my hands, then distrubute it evenly throughout my hair.:yep:

Hot mix-
1/2 c distilled water (to retard any bacteria growth)
1/4 c AVJ or AVGel
1/8 tea veggie glycerin
1/4 tea silk amino acids
Sometimes I will add 1 Tab ACV but I pretty much do my final rinse with ACV so this is just on occasion.

Sometimes I will add 2Tab of the oil of my choice but I stopped recently b/c I'm sealing my hair with said oil after spraying this on anyway and the oil can clog the nozzle:drunk:. Also, if I am about out of a bottle of condish I've been using for CW, I'll swish dist. H2O in the almost empty bottle then pour that into my spray bottle and add the other things you see here (when I'm making a new batch).:yep:

Cold mix-
Same ingredients but I leave out the glycerin (it is thought glycerin in colder months can cause moisture to be pulled from within the strands:nono:) and add 1 Tab organic honey (helps with moisture and retards bacteria).
I also will use a variation of KT's lv-in and seal with a ceramide rich blend of my choice like castor oil, or with the butter of my choice (Avocado, Mango, or Shea).:lick:
HTH!
