Here is a new thread;)

Have you ever bought a product thinking it's really great and when you use it it's left your hair too dry, greasy, tangled, or a hot mess??
I think it would be helpful to share the product 101 the good, the bad, and the ugly
what are some you will you never in no way will waste your precious money on?

Pink Oil Moisturizer
Praital Silk Worm Rinse - dry and tangled
AB Tea Tree and Carrot Oil - didn't do anything for me.

I know there are more. I have to think...I'll be back.:scratchch

BTW - nice to see you SexyEyes3616!

I.C. Fantasia P.M. treatment: left my hair greasy with a grainy residue
Softee Indian hemp: Greasy, weighed down my hair, and left it lackluster
B&B oil moisturizer: I used to LOVE this, until they added mineral oil, which dried out my hair and made it dull. I recently gave it up.
Elasta Q.P DPR 11: worked well at first but doesn’t anymore. It doesn’t have good slip. It really let me down because I posted a rave review about it not too long ago.
ORS Hair Mayonnaise: Does nothing for my hair but leave it hard and dry.
Elasta QP Mango Butter: Too heavy for my hair

I'll probably be back with more later.

Lekair Shea Butter Cholesterol - left my hair stipped and tangled
Elasta QP Mango Butter - does nothing for me, but love the other products
Motions EVERYTHING - their products makes my hair feel like a brillo pad.

Black gel
Aphogee balancing conditioner
Anything from the Black and Sassy line
ORS locking gel (I bought it and hated it in the past. Then I went and repurchase it when I read all those product raves. No way am I buying it a third time.)

Elasta QP mango butter - too heavy for my fine hair.
Any Aphogee products - left my hair too dry and tangled.
ORS no lye relaxer - Phyto relaxer - left my hair way too dry.

Ahh, lets see.

Nexxus--Hated it. The conditioner, emergencee, etc. I will never buy another Nexxus product as long as I live. And I mean that ish! All it does is leave my hair dry and tangled.

Black and Sassy Wrap Cream
I would NEVER buy that mess again. I set my hair using that mess and I had flakes and crap coming out of my hair from it. I hate that crap with a passion. I never used it again. I should have known better using something with such a title..

Burt Bee's Sugar Beet & Grapefruit shampoo----I have never experienced tangles like that before! and left my hair feeling grainy.

Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey---at first I thought I liked it, but the beeswax zapped the moisture from my hair, gave this one away.

Jason Jojoba Conditer & Jason Sea Kelp Con----no slip, no shine, no moisture, these are going in the prepoo mixes and conditioner cocktails.

Mizani Thermasmooth Serum---weighed down sticky mess, (but the thermasmooth poo and con are good).

ETA: Mane n Tail and Garnier Conditioners=never again will I use these
ORS olive oil lotion=too heavy for my hair
Nexxus products leave my hair looking dull

Hi SexyEyes!

Like most women here I face the challenge to find the right products for MY hair and hair type. I've wasted a lot of money, energy, time and effort on products that promise too much and offer too little.

So after all this money and effort, I think I am finally realizing that I need to do 3 things:

1. Read the ingredients
2. Learn which ingredients help or hurt my hair
3. Understand [and accept] that just because most women rave about a product doesn't mean that that particular product is right for me.

Cases in point: BB Oil Moisturizer, Clarol's Vitapointe and both ORS Olive Oil and ORS Carrot Oil are *bad* for my hair. Why? These moisturizers are far too heavy for my hair, weigh it down and eventually make it look dull, dry and sticky. I also experience more shedding and breakage. I even have to be careful using my beloved castor oil because it, too, tends to be heavy and a little sticky.

So I found a new love FINALLY! Aveda products are proving to be the ones that will work for me.

Last week I stopped by the Aveda Institute on the way home from work in D.C. There were African American specialists there. I explained that I needed a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that will tackle and tame my new growth. I explained that I want to stretch my relaxer as must as possible. They ALL had gorgeous hair and they unanimously suggested the Aveda DR line. Other women--black and white--heard us talking about Aveda DR and chimed in, agreeing that it's the best line. I went home, used it, can't believe how wonderfully silky my hair is...and yes, my NG is tamed and soft, even after using BT. No more dry, brittle NG.

So yesterday after giving away the aforementioned products (BB Oil Moisturizer, etc.), I stopped by Aveda again, thanked the ladies, and asked them to help me chose a good moisturizer and sealant. These products are not cheap. I bought the USC and the brilliance moisturizing serum. Went home, tried it out. My hair is shiny, luxurious, soft and bouncy!

Ladies, I think I've finally found my staples!!!! ;):)

Sorry for the long post...

luster's pink oil moisturizer(NEVER AGAIN!!!!)
and anything from Carol's daughter for hair except the hair milk(everythiing else did nothing for me at all)

Luster's Pink Oil Hair Lotion - never again:
Jam - all of the bottles
ANY KIND OF SPRITZ
Herbal Essence Conditioners - all of them too

Let's Jam

that brown gel

Pink Oil- made my hair a heavy greasy mess. Their light formula is also a joke.

Joico SIlk Result Instant Smoother Flat Iron Spray-didnt straighten, made my hair dry and hard.

Tigi Catwalk Sexxed Up Body Tonic- gave my hair volume but also made it crunchy and hard.

Anything from the Rusk line
Pink Oil Moisturizer
LIV hairdressing - growing up my mom did wonders with this on my natural hair, but on my relaxed hair gag!
Infusium 23 moisturizing formula, the original one is still ok with me.

Im not buying ORS Olive Oil Hair Moisturiser. This stuff just does not get along with my hair. It leaves it brittle, crunch, and not at all moisturised! I got a almost full bottle of it too.

Anything by Garnier Fructis. The shampoo smelled good...and that was it. I almost broke my shower comb off in my hair. After using the conditioner!

patene's-relaxed and natural-left my hair tangled and very dry
lots of carol's daughters stuff-i wasted money on a lot of her stuff
ganier frutis leave ins...VERY BAD IDEA

Hair Spritz
Brown/Black Hair gel
Dark and Lovely relaxer
Pink Oil Moisturizer
V05 or Thermosilk Hairspray
Pantene relaxed and natural leave in conditioner
