Okay Ladies: How do You All Keep Track of all Your Products? And when do you know when it's time to replace them?

What Clever ways have you devised to keep inventory on "Your Stash?" I read one Poster even keeps an Excel Spreadsheet and tracks her inventory that way.

I would really like to know what you are doing to keep track of all of your Stuff?

I am about ready to start some sort of Product Inventory List myself. I think it will Curb the PJ-ism if you see What stuff you already have and How Much of it.

So what are you doing?:feedback:

Thanks, Terri

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

My products are organized by purpose (ie, cowash condishes, deep condishes, etc). That helps me keep track. I'm way too lazy to track it any other way.

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I have a product inventory list that I keep in Word. The categories are "Product Name", "Size", "Quantity", "Cost", and "Will or Will Not Repurchase". I also keep a list of my supplements in the same document. It is kept in a binder I call "My Hair Journey."

I Started off trying to do that. But as I bought more, things got more overwhelming and disorganized, and all mixed together again:ohwell:.

But I am going to spend some real quality time to sort things out and get things back together.

It seems like, instead of keeping track of things and keeping it organized, I just bought more.:look:

Americka: Thanks. I will definitely try something like this. I got to get control over the Situation.

Especially the "Will or Will Not Repurchase" but unfortunately........there are not too many of these.:look:

:lachen:That's sort of where I am now. I want to have just a little bit more control.

I do the same thing except with a four shelf cabinet...

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

Every product line has its own shelf and then there is one shelf with misc. like co wash con etc.

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I have to agree with you Terri, I am having a little trouble keeping track of my hair product inventory myself. i do know what my short-term goal is and that is to use up what commercial products that I have left and my long-term goal is to use more natural/organic hair products with the exception of 2 commercial lines. They are Mizani and Joico. I think once I have those 2 lines in my hair arsenal, I'll be fine.

There are a few natural/organic brands that I KNOW I will be using as staples and from now on, I will just stick with those few. I'd say I have about 5 brands in mind right about now and among them are Jason Naturals, Aubrey Organics, Mills Creek, Giovanni, and possibly Alba(leave-in only in this line-thanks Terri for this one):yep:. Other natural hair products would include ayurveda oils and powders. By the way, I store my products in 6 huge plastic containers, under the bathroom sink, on top of my clothes closet and on the bathroom towel rack:grin:. I guess it's safe to say that I have them stored all through the house.

Everything just thrown together is a chest in a mess.

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

Oyh by the way, I eventually want to get my products down where I'll only need about 2 of those large containers filled with hair products and no more than that. Wish me luck.

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I have a cabinet my dad put in my bathroom specifically for my hair stuff. The stuff on the bottom shelf is mostly comprised of the products that I use on the regular basis. It's full of my staple products and new stuff that Im trying out. Products on the middle shelf are things that are just okay and I may use them every now and again. Products that I purchase for the first time that start out on the bottom shelf, will get moved to the middle shelf if my staple product out shines them or I if I think that the product is still some good, but not needed right now. Products on the top shelf are rarely ever used. I keep them for friends and family that may have a need for them or if I have a hair emergency, and for some odd reason I need to use them.

My daily maintenance products (Moisturizers, Oils, etc) are not shelved at all. I keep them in a basket sitting out, so I can see, touch and use them throughout the day!

I keep my EO and all Natural products in another cabinet with the same shelving system. :perplexed

Products that are deemed unworthy of even being placed in the cabinets are located in my linen closet. these products are often given away or used on my dog!

Attached is an old pic of my cabinet. Some of these products have been reshelved since this pic and the EO cabinet is much larger and is now located in the kitchen!! :look:

This is me. I know every product I have and I use them all. If I don't remember it then that means it sucked when I did use it and need to get rid of it.

Thanks For Sharing Your Old Set-Up. Your "New One" Sounds even Better.

Before things got outta control, I had everything together and then it just kept getting bigger and bigger..........:nono:

So, I need to take Copius Notes and decide what products did/do what, what the results were and if they are worth purchasing again.

I Really Need to Get Organized ! ! ! :ohwell:

I don't want to have alot of Products and then Have them all thrown Together in one big Pile.

well....right now.....they're in about 8-9 of those "Copy Paper" Boxes that I got from work. I want to know What I Have and How Much.

This looks like a project for next week. I need some order in my Life.:nono:

Don't forget to look into Beauty Without Cruelty, Dr. Bronner's and Natures Gate while you are doing your research as well.

I just saw ur PM...I was about to jet off and get a quick snooze in before the awards came on...

Okay..

the four shelf cabinet holds pretty much all the inventory - sectioned off by small bottle conditioners, oils, masks, jars, powders, bowls, etc. - I got this wood cabinet from Staples yearssssssssssssssssss ago...

I then have two fabric bins on top of it that hold random conditioners, etc. and other hair products I don't use as frequently but like to have on hand - got them from Bed, Bath and Beyond..

There is room in the bottom of one of my closets, that is where the gallons (joico, giovanni, aveda, other bottles) rest their head and stay readily accessible..

in the bathroom, there is a small stainless steel shelving unit that holds the items I need to reach for everyday - hairveda and qhemet gel, whipped ends, my bootleg oil, Denman, etc.

...then underneath the sink area is a cylinder shaped container I got from the Container Store (thanks Oprah for the coupon) - that holds Vatika Oil, leave ins, etc., behind that in a corner are more items that I like to have handy but not search for, flat iron, hot comb, randoms.

then the Sitrinillah pail is right there in the other corner, readily accessible if I need to fill a jar while dc'ing.

Yes, I know where everything is. It's like second nature.

Hope that helps.

I am not a pj...I am a targeted hair product purchaser. :yep:

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I'm the spreadsheeter. I have a curio for all of the deep conditioners, organized by protein or moisture, with extras (MT, Aphogee treatment, etc.) on the bottom. I have a separate rolling 4 drawer office type thing (you know, the kind with 3 small drawers and one large drawer at the bottom) for oils and herbs, shampoos, and leave-in conditioners and gels (top drawer is actually for nail implements). The co-wash conditioners are kept in the bathroom in a bin. And once a month, or whenever I do major shopping, I just go through and update the list. I'm not detailed enough to have a will/not repurchase (though that's a really good idea), and I don't have enough of any one line to dedicate an entire shelf to it, but this works for me.

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I dont keep track. If i want it i buy it and i will write a review about it in my fotki or makeupalley.com

Re: Product Junkies, Product Horders and Sensible Product Buyers..How do you keep Tra

I just keep everything in a bin and don't buy more than what can fit in it. That way it is easy to keep track.

I think I'll skip the Nature's Gate but the BWC and Dr bronner's leave-ins I may consider. Thanks Terri.

Thanks For Posting. I thought this was a Unique System and it seems to be working really well for You.

I will definitely be devising an Inventory Tracking system as well.:yep:

Thanks! I just started doing this not too long ago, but I realize that things could quickly get out of hand if I didn't. It's nothing too complicated, but it helps me be able to remember what I have, so I'm not duplicating purchases and stuff like that.
