THEN- 2007
When I first got serious about my healthy hair journey. This was progress to me!
NOW- 2012- sorta recent
This is the most recent comparison pic I have. My hair had been curled so it is not broken off. Just a lil curled under.
I don't really document my hair when it's curly. I don't know why not.
I try to stay out of my hair as much as possible, which is so hard because I'm forever itching to try new styles and I like my gravity-defying Hunger Games inspired coiffures.
I was able to put these pics together. Hopefully you can see. This is 3 months of progress: April 30 2013 to May 30 2013 to June 30 2013
I took a 1" square from my right nape in each picture and two strand twisted it. (I wish I had done a comparison of loose hair, as it's a bit longer loose than twisted.)
In April, my twist reaches a little past the 10 line on my homemade length check Tee. (The lines are exactly 1" apart.) In May, my twist reaches a little past the 11 line. In June, it reaches a little past the 13 line. So... In those 2 months, my hair grew approximately 3 inches.
So yes, it's proven once again. Consistently leaving your hair alone will allow it to retain.

Summer 2011 to May or June of 2013. Don't have more recent pictures that show my length from the back but I am a little past BSL now. Well at least this shows a full 2 year difference. Changes: a few months after the first picture I stopped relaxing, exclusively rollerset and incorporated deep conditioning. Oh and yes I was still getting highlights.
Use this to glue the tracks to your hair. I only keep that in for a few days because it can be damaging.
Oh OK. So your hair's still fine then? Hair glue makes me nervous.

I was natural until June this year. During the years I was natural I stayed in mini braids 99% of the time. I moisturized and sealed my ends daily. Used heat 3x a year. Cowashed 4-5x a week, and baggied my whole head almost every night. Now that I am relaxed, I bun 99% of the time. Moisturize and seal every two days. I contribute my growth to protective styling, and keeping my ends moisturized.

I've been slacking lately. But my regimen of moisturizing & sealing daily, bunning, dcing, & limiting heat is definitely working. Hoping to make WL next year.

I stopped tracking my relax journey in 2010. My Fotki (old school i know) has my relaxed journey from 05 to 10, but here are some pics & dates:
Here are mine: Relaxed days (I was growing out a pixie cut). Sometime in 2008 Right after I got my Big Chop shaped (March 2010): WNGs from 2012: Flat iron (June 2013): Twistout from this weekend: ETA: December 2013 My regimen is low manipulation. I wear WNGs most of the time and sometimes I do twist outs, buns, or use my hairsticks for an updo. For my WNGs and twistouts I pineapple my hair at night to maintain the style. I also sleep with a satin pillowcase and moisturize as needed. I don't use sulfates, and I only use cones when I flat iron. I used to henna every couple of months, but I haven't done that in almost a year. My staples are: Darcy's pumpkinseed conditioner B.A.S.K. palm tapioca and plantain spice butter (for sealing) Oyin burnt sugar pomade (for sealing) and hairdew Curl junkie argan oil conditione and daily fix Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothing and purification mask Shescentit marshmallow herbal hair cream Vo5 mosture milks Tresemme Naturals conditioner Creme of Nature argan oil shampoo Eco styler gel Uncle funky's curly magic ***I also took viviscal for about 6 months and that worked really well for me. I only stopped because I got pregnant. I plan to start again after I have the baby and am finished breastfeeding.
Ok I had to post this since I just noticed the difference, lol. Summer 2013 and December 28 2013 ETA Its the 'bigness' Im excited about
