Nice...do you apply your sulfur oil daily? I can't remember if you said b4.

HairPleezeGrow I was applying it daily from mid-March to probably August. I then started using it every other day. I actually had a growth spurt and grew/retained two inches from the end of March/beginning of April to mid June. I used a length check t-shirt to document that in the old NJoy sulfur oil thread.

Here are mine:

Relaxed days (I was growing out a pixie cut). Sometime in 2008

Right after I got my Big Chop shaped (March 2010):

Flat iron (June 2013):

Twistout from this weekend:

My regimen is low manipulation. I wear WNGs most of the time and sometimes I do twist outs, buns, or use my hairsticks for an undo. I don't sulfates, and I only use cones when I flat iron. I used to henna every couple of months, but I haven't done that in almost a year.

Girl that twistout is errthang! Wonderful results.

one year worth of growth using all natural products. To get here I used Chagrin Valley shampoo bars. Myhoneychild and Aubrey organics deep conditioners. Giovanni direct leave in or Kinky curly knot today. And sealed with hemp seed butter.

I've been using all natural products since I went natural 2 yrs ago. I cut down to here
I LOVE your natural curls! If I was natural, I'd want it to look like yours! :yep:

***I also took viviscal for about 6 months and that worked really well for me. I only stopped because I got pregnant. I plan to start again after I have the baby and am finished breastfeeding.
Love the twist-out, I can never get those to work for me :nono:

This is my progress for 2012. I haven't compiled my 2013 pictures yet. I attribute my progress to the following:
--I gave up daily heat and now use it once every 8 weeks.
-- I started stretching my relaxers (16 weeks) and texlaxing.
-- I wear my hair in a bun 99% of the time.

The other pics are of my relaxed hair and the various lengths. The 1st pic of my length was taken Jan 2012 (I think) and the last pic is from this month.

The other pics are just various hairstyles. If I find anymore, I def post.

^^^opps I forgot. Just recently I FINALLY figured out the mositure/protein balance. For me, that was the hardest thing to understand. In the Jan pic, you can see that my hair grew but it kept breaking off in the middle. It took my hair to have protein overload, to finally know what was a balanced head of hair.

pelohello. Thanks! How do you maintain your protein/moisture balance? What type of products/how often? I'm still trying to figure this out as well. I know my hair seems to like medium protein at regular intervals which is usually between two and 3 weeks. I can use a light protein like AOGPB every week w/no problems. I think it's because during the week in between washes, I like to moisturize and seal every other day, so that tends to push me into the overly moisturized end of the spectrum.

Great growth ladies, so inspirational! And thanks OP for the thread.

I would post but I cut off about 5 inches in July and that has pretty much grown back and I'll be cutting the remaining 4-5 inches of my relaxed ends off in December so no point really.

Froreal3, I try to maintain my protein/moisture balance by having just a tad bit too much protein. Once that happens I stop with the protein and focus on moisture (I hope that makes sense:)). Basically I keep using protein until my hair feels like it has alittle too much; but not that much where my hair is breaking. When I'm doing my protein routine, I use the protein once a week.

I shampoo once a week and cowash once a week (I sometimes skip the cowash). I also DC 2xs a week.

The products I use for my DC are: Herbal Essence Hello Hydration and Yes to Carrots. I prefer Yes to Carrots b/c it is more natural , but its alittle pricey for the size. For my protein, I use Millcreek Jojoba Conditioner. That stuff is amazing!!!

For my leavein I use Alafadia Shea Butter Leave-in and Shea Moisture Curl enhancing smoothie. I make sure I use lots of leave-in b/c my hair gets dry easily and I only M&S on my wash days.

I love this thread. So much easier to come here than scroll through pages and pages in the challenge threads.
Time to step my hair game up...
Thanks OP!
