I hate to be a stickler about this but really I can not believe that some people don't find Oprah's hair to be impressive. I guess if it was a head of 2c hair down her back it would be beautiful. Or perhaps take the same hair and put it on Beyonce then it will be gorgeous.

Where are we at in this day and age as AA. It could just be me but I sense some Brown paper bag theory goin on...

I know - if I had a quarter of that woman's hair I'd be happy! :lachen: The thickness is out of this world!

OMG!

I could not understand for the life of me why so many people (and members of this board :sekret:) thought O's hair was a weave

Now I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was natural, always thought she was relaxed, but after her umpteen years of assumably good, consistent care, why is it so hard to believe that she would have a head full of hair?

I do... because Oprah has been known to rock weaves. She went to DC for the inauguration and one of her tracks were clearly spotted in the photo.

Even I was skeptical when she started rocking her hair straight a month ago. And it didn't have anything to with the "Black women can't grow hair" issue... It had to do with the obvious curly weave that she wore for months before the straight style.

Anyway, go Oprah... I'm glad she shut it down because I kept going back and forth over whether that was hair when I watched the show.

That is really beautiful! I don't like weaves personally (disclaimer* I have family and they know this and my mom wears one due to her health and the effects but I still don't like it) and I really didn't and don't like the ones Oprah wears, but to see her hair like that leaves me in awe

I always thought it was her hair and natural too because when Andre came out with his hair type system he used Oprah as an example of a 4B (I think it's B) and showed a photo. I've also seen several of her as a child and a few more through the years and they all looked natural and thick (aside from her bad hair days as a News Anchor where it didn't look as healthy). Her skin does look better these days!! I just love her and her hair!!!

All I know is if I had Oprah's dough... my hair would be beautilicious too! There are no limits when you got dough like hers.. she can have a chemist basically make her the perfect growth aid! Kidding..

It's nice and thick...as it should be.

Sure she wears fake hair sometimes, Andre knows he has to give her hair a break from constant heat styling.
But Oprah has beautiful, thick, coarse long hair! And she is a BILLIONAIRE...she can afford to have a team of the best chemist in the world working around the clock to make the best hair care products for her hair.

I saw this on another board and emailed it to my "girls". Oprah's hair is absolutely lovely!

Off topic: Wow, you've been a member here since 2003 and I am just now meeting your hair. It looks so pretty!

Oprah's hair is so beautiful. The thickness is amazing!

Just gorgeous!!!! I can't believe some people don't think so. Its not all that? Its damaged? Lol, thats funny to me, not.

Out of 78 responses (at this point) only ONE PERSON on this thread said Oprah's hair looked damaged/frizzy ...so why are there so many statements like "I can't believe how some people feel that Oprah's hair is damaged..."???
Obviously most (almost 100%) see her hair as beautiful, but so what if a few don't, not everybody has to agree that Oprah's hair looks fabulous.

I was shocked when she claimed that was hers. I thought it was a weave. It looks great!

*Jealous* Makes me want to go natural :yep:

Oprah has always been one of my hair idols and I was disappointed with the curly weave that she had been wearing, but I am glad to see that Andre is back in full effect. Her hair is simply stunning. Money is only part of the equation because we don't see other black female celebrities with gorgeous hair. Back in the day, Sophisticate's Black Hair used to be a good tool to help you copy a celebrity's hair regimen. Now almost everyone in the magazine is rocking a weave. Nothing against it. I rock weaves myself, but I still want tips on taking care of hair - not styling a weave.

And I am officially jealous. It makes me miss the days of when I had big hair (and I had a relaxer). When I look at pics of my hair from 5 or 6 years ago, it was thick and healthy, but after everyone kept telling me that I needed to get hur did, I went to a woman who relaxed me bone straight and my hair has not been the same. I can't for the life of me remember the relaxer regimen I was using when my hair was so thick. It had to be cheap and easily accessible because I was a broke student and for part of the time, I lived in mostly yt state with little access to black hair care products. Maybe it was no lye in a box. After years of lye, I switched back to no-lye this month.

Yay Oprah!!!!! Nice inspiration.

You're SO kind! Your hair is gorgeous and you're making some GREAT progress!

Why is it so hard to believe that the richest black woman on the planet was able to grow her hair out? We're flat broke compared to Oprah, and this board is full to the brim with ladies that have hair down to there, but a celeb on an unlimited budget can't do the same? That's just silly.

I always thought she was natural with super thick hair, but I didnt know her hair was THAT thick and long.

Another thing is I think she's a great looking 55 year old. I think she would look pretty if she put her hair back in a bun, and put a little makeup on.

That comment is on the first page, so people see it & reply to it. I don't think it's that everyone has to agree that Oprah's hair looks fabulous, but saying that it looks damaged kind of sounds haterish to me - and I'm no huge Oprah fan, either. I always thought she was relaxed with Phyto for some reason, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that one of the richest and most powerful black woman in America (arguably) is rocking her long natural hair. It's very inspiring on a long hair care board.

I also think that some people read discussions about Oprah's hair on other sites as well.
