I'm in need of some encouragement from my LHCF family.

Y'all, I have been so frustrated with my hair lately. Right now I'm trying to stretch (last relaxer was last September). I look at all of the transitioners and naturals on this board and their hair is gaw-geous! On the other hand, my hair is always dull and boring. Sometimes I can get it to do right but that may be once out of every four times at most. I deep condition every week, try to use heat only once a week, limit manipulation, yada, yada, yada, but it's still unmanageable. I'm trying not to, but I'm almost on the verge of relaxing. I even went out and bought the kit, mixed it up and was getting ready to apply to my roots when I looked at myself in the mirror. You would have thought I was a junkie about to take a hit until he sees himself in the mirror and falls out crying!!! I got up right away and threw that stuff away! I just can't seem to get that shine that all of you have. And speaking of junkies, I've actually turned myself into a product junkie. I used to never spend more than $20 at Sally's and now it's not unusual for me to spend more than $50 a couple of times month! This is getting crazy.

So, all that was to say, I guess some people have it and some people don't and I must be one of those that doesn't have it. :cry3: Okay, that's it. Just wanted to vent. Thanks y'all.

((hugs))) It'll be okay. Do you use lye or no-lye? That may be part of the problem. Do you use a little oil on your hair? Also, texture does play a part. I am 4a/b with some 3c and I will tell you the 3c shines with very little effort. Hopefully you'll figure it out. I think the pics of your hair in your siggy look nice, don't be so hard on yourself.

I am so feeling you. Don't give up!! I found LHCF around Sep 06 - since then i've spent hundreds of dollars, have many half used bottles and have had a few setbacks, breakage (from stretching and low mani - just not for me) and many a bad hair day. I'm only now figuringout what works for me. but it was worth it. My hair is on the turn around and yours will be too. Some really good advice from various board members - less is more and not everything will work for everyone. I remember Supergirl saying don't apologise for relaxing - it's your hair. You have great hair, I love your pics. This will get better. You can do hair. Believe it.
