Man! Where was this thread when I tried to search before I did my first henna last week?! My first attempt came out ok but I'm not sure I used enough (25g). Next time I'm going to use 100g and just water, no lemon juice.

Question: what does putting tea in your henna mix do?

WHat kind of tea are you considering? Some teas are more acidic than others. some teas just add softness, some add more shine. Personally, I simply add brewed coffee as my liquid....it tends to take some of the red-ness out and gives me such a beautiful auburn-ish/burgundy-ish color. Then once my liquid has made my mix a thick consistency, I add my amla oil and aubrey organics white camelia to make it smooth like lotion or like pudding.

Update on my henna , I wash it out with cheap condition , two times then add GCP , for and hour , my hair was soft and shinny. My gray hair is auburn, I love it , can wait for my hair to grow back to exp wit more style. no mess in my bathroom , only used one towel compare to my 1st henna.

OMG!!!! NUPUR HENNA is da bom-diggety!!!! :wow:

I did my two-week henna treatment again, but this time I used the NUPUR......good grief - it was AWESOME!!!

Here's my mix: (sorry...can't really get into measuring with grams:perplexed)
1/4 cup Nupur Henna
1/8 cup Nupur Henna (the 1/4 cup looked like it wasn't enough....I was right!!)
1/2 cup coffe
1/2 cup Tresemme Moisture w/Vitamin E conditioner
1/4 Vatika Coconut Hair Oil (this is Great stuff, too:yep:)
2 tblsp honey

My mixture was smooth & creamy...almost like a baby-food creaminess & consistency. I finger-parted & applied to dry hair. Covered with a few plastic shower caps and then went to bed. It was Friday nite, and I always do my henna overnite, so I don't bother with waiting for any color release. I'll get it as I sleep.... :hehe:

Next morning.....TODAY!!

I got up rinsed out the henna. It was ssooooo easy to rinse out. I needed nothing but my running water. Maybe it was the added oils, maybe it was the added conditioner, maybe it was the added honey....WHO CARES...this thing rinsed out like a dream!!!

I proceed with my regular wash & DC w/Heat routine.....

I am singing the praises of NUPUR HENNA. The indian store near me, SUBZI MANDI, sells 200g for about $3.29 :wow: I'll be a henna'ing monkey before I run out of henna....LOL!!:lachen:

The color is beautiful. Not as bright red as the jamila. I really wasn't happy the the Bozo looking bright oranges I got with jamila. But this NUPUR color has more brown tones, like an aurburn brown. And i know it will oxidize in the next days and get even darker. I'm in love.

My hair is so strong. It feels like fibers that are just strong, yet with the right moisturizers & oils, the strands become so obedient, and pliable.. I am loving my hair today.

QUESTION: How do I store the rest of my dry henna, until my next application?

I'm so glad you posted this because I'm sitting right now with the Nupur henna in my head. I mixed mine with a little amla and shikakai powder, a cup of brewed coffee, ACV, and a few drops of lavender essential oil.

Hopefully, it will turn out nice (this is my first henna).:perplexed

Please let us know how it turns out. I'm pretty sure you will NOT be disappointed with NUPUR. So far, it has turned out to be the BEST henna for my hair..:yep:

Where can I purchase Nupur online? A trustworthy vendor.

Unfortunately (...or should I say "FORTUNATELY"...) I purchase my NUPUR Henna from my local Subzi Mandi Indian Grocery store. I do hope you find a reputable online vendor to purchase from. :ohwell:

Thanks for the idea! I may try this in the fall/winter!

The only tea I've seen mentioned so far is green tea. Does that add softness? Which teas add softness? My first henna I only mixed with lemon juice so to get a little softness would be nice. Any suggestions would be appreciated TIA

Well, so far, I've learned that chamomile tea is non-drying, and wont itch like lemon juice does. Also Hibuscus tea is supposed to be very moisturizing.

Personally, I simply use brewed coffee for my liquid.... any nice bold-dark roast. It seems to tone down the red in my color.:yep: But some ladies have also reported that using coffee does nothing at all to change the dye color for their hair.

Another case in point - every head is different.:ohwell:

EDITED TO ADD:
Catherine (from Henna For Hair site) did some tests with henna in different liquids: lemon, water, chamomile.

Apparently the chamomile oxidizes quite well, and doesn't fade as fast.

I forgot about this merchant baddison. Have you ordered from them before? What are the shipping fees like?

Haven't order from them before....but the pj in my is whipping out the CC right now!!:wallbash: I'll be the guinea pig and let y'all know how it goes!!:lachen:

*screeching halt*.....Well, not too sure 'bout these shipping rates (see attached *.pdf). Its worth it if what you order exceeds the minimum 11lbs, but I only ordered 5 Nupu Henna Pouches (200g each) and it comes to $13.95 (which is GREAT :wow:)
BUT I'm not paying twenty bucks to ship it to me....NO WAY!!!!

Are these folks out of the country???

Hmmm, that is pretty high for such a small order but like you said, it does make sense if you are ordering 11 lbs or more of products. I don't know if they are out of the USA. For me, shipping would be almost $22.00 to Florida and I will have to pay more on top of that to get it to the Bahamas. IDK, this is getting to be more trouble than it's worth.

I want indigo, but it was too expensive on aurnaturalbeauty.com. It was cheaper at mehndiskinart.com by almost half. I may have to go back to mehndiskinart to order my indigo. I can get 3 kilos (30 - 100gram boxes) of indigo for $105.00 + $28.00 s/h. To me, that's worth it. One kilo at ayurnaturalbeauty would cost me $62.50 each plus the s/h fees. I'll save at least $60.00 or more ordering it from mehndiskinart.com. That's a hefty savings for me. Decisions, decisions...

In Atlanta I got it for 1.49 a bag at Indiana stoe in Decatur Patel Brother, purchased 4 bags and I henna evey week. I used my last bag last night , and my hair is really growing and glowing. No more bald patches thank God and thank LFHC, Nupur is the best for me , hair so soft.
