Happy New Year everyone! I’m back with another No Buy Challenge.

Rules:
1. No unnecessary purchases. (This includes hair products, skincare products, clothes, shoes, random items, uber eats, etc.)
2. The objective is to break the habit of buying things you don’t need.
3. Create one new healthy money habit. For example, last year I set up a recurring investment purchase. Every check I buy so much of this asset.
4. Have fun! Be creative.
5. Check in as often as you like.

If there is a specific money goal that you have for 2025, post it here for inspiration. Let’s save some coins!

Challengers:

My financial goals for 2025 in no particular order:
Start an emergency fund and contribute $100 from each check. At the end of 2025, I should have $2400 in this fund.

Add $100 a month to my children’s brokerage accounts.

Deposit all excess funds into a high yield savings account at the end of each month. Some months this may only be $20, other months it may be hundreds of dollars.

here and ready!
this came at the perfect time.

amazon and getting my braids done was getting expensive. i am getting my silk press done for $60. Taking a long hiatus from braids.

I want to save 15k this year. I am well on my way to finally reaching 10k

I got into cash stuffing recently and it's really been helping me. I like it. I don't go overboard. I keep things simple with my categories. Here's my main categories: rent; utilities; medical; household; self care; fun.

I stuff small amounts biweekly.

i also have a seperate binder dedicated only to my savings challenges. i bought a few recently princess tiana themed. they were only a few bucks. The savings amounts are: 6k; 8k; and 10k.

I have also started using my YMCA membership that I got last year and never used smh. I start swim lessons this week! and dance classes!

I'm starting my fitness journey this year. I bought fresh fruits and veggies and meats, ect. i am going to get myself a personal trainer as well with a simple workout plan

Nice. Treat yourself!

Yall, tell me why my non coordinated self signed up for a dance class package. I'm lowkey scared to go. It starts on wednesday and i don't know what to expect because i've never taken a dance class before. Dance is new to me. I'm trying out different things in 2025 and trying to build a life for myself outside of work and my upcoming psych class that starts in 2 weeks

idk i'm beginning to second guess myself but I also wanna learn how to dance....

That sounds so fun. My cousins want us to do a pole dance class. Lol

Right now I'm on track to finish paying off my car and the last of my student loans by the end of April. I'll make readjustments after those are done.
Wow. Those are big goals. You can do it. I love how you plan to make adjustments afterwards to account for the extra money you’ll have.

I will not to buy anything else this month.

I do want a new flat iron though. Titanium is just too harsh for my hair typw

i'm trying out that dance class tonight. They texted me the address to the dance studio which was very kind of them because I am not familiar with the area. Yall please send out some encouraging prayers for me. I'm a tad bit nervous, currently trying to convince myself to go and just try it out but i don't wanna be laughed at or embarrassed. I've never taken a dance class, never danced in public, never danced in front of anyone before. I don't dance at all. I don't think I have any rhythm smh. I'll still go though because I have been curious about dance for the past few years but never did anything about it.

Getting a silk press and a much needed trim next friday at a more affordable salon. This salon does it for $60. Gonna give the braids a long hiatus probably until June. Then I might get a set of knotless braids for the summer so I can finish up my braid spray and my mousse.

That’s a good price. My Dominican lady used to charge 40-50 but now it’s 70 and up.
