New Year No Buy Challenge-October 2024

New Month! :theteam:

I am trying to make it through LD w/o buying any Hair products.:look:

I have been on a Lip.stick and Skin.Care "binge" lately but about to put the brakes on that one too.:stop:

washed my hair this morning

used up: 2 Palmers Olive Oil DC sample packs
1 bottle Aussie Moist Curls Conditioner

thinking about knotless braids for vacay
I want some boho knotless braids, but I don’t like sitting for long. My bff has the most realistic knotless wig. It’s super cute. I might have to buy one.

Y’all I’m bout to get rid of so much stuff. I barely have products these days cuz I stopped buying them. I have an insane wardrobe though. My plan is to clean and organize my room/closet throughout the month of October.

using up my oils. I'm gonna oil my scalp every day and make sure I wear my bonnet so my braids can stay looking fresh for vacay

I plan on doing hot oil treatments and washing/conditioning my braids as well

gearing up for the last few days of work before vacay. I plan on working out daily, eating lighter, and trying new foods without overdoing it. I honestly just want to go to the beach and lay out. I wanted to swim with the dolphins but it cost like $329 per person. I'll keep looking for stuff to do but otherwise, I plan on enjoying the beach and whatever is on the ship and taking lots of pics of the water. I can't wait to watch the sun rise. I'm excited to try the Blue Iguana and Guy's Burger joint and the fancy sit down dinner.

so freaking excited. Chile, my bags have been packed since noon and I don't leave until the weekend lol

My closet looks great. I found my hairbrella in the center section of my drawer. My ex husband came over to help the kids declutter and organize and I had him haul off some stuff for me. My space feels so feminine and peaceful now. I’m just getting started.

I only bought kaleidoscope x da brat braid spray this month.

I have my shescentit avocado dc that I will use to steam my hair after I remove my braids, my design essentials avocado shampoo & suave strawberry conditioner to use as a prepoo and rinse-out.

I put jumbo satin scrunchies on my xmas list as part of my stocking stuffer though. Taking a break from braids after I take out the current set. I asked my braider if she does flat twists/ twisted updos on natural hair and she does. I want a two strand twisted updo done for christmas.

I want to keep things as simple as possible and reduce the amount of products I use. I'm a low porosity 4b/4c natural

Today makes 41 days since I last purchased an extra hair, makeup, or beauty product. At first it was hard but really it was me not having a coping mechanism I could fall back on. Doing this longer no buy made me realize just how bad my shopping addiction is. It's also set me on a good path moving forward.

My main goal with the initial no spend was to save money. I did do that but I also found out other areas I'm spending too much in so I'll be budgeting better from now on. Also, by not spending, it forced me to use what I have and I've learned I actually don't like some of my favorites. Now I'm looking at my entire stash funny .

Since we're in the middle of holiday and gift giving season, I'm not going to fool myself into thinking I can totally not buy anything. But I am keeping my eyes peeled for the best deals and once I see what I need or want to get, I'll get that thing and be done.

I'm preparing myself to jump in for next year. I know that December will be interesting, so I might try to get it together by then. But I'm glad this thread is here.
