New Color Showers...?!

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

This is actually the same bottle my rojisimo came in. Now that you mention it i did notice that the smell was more intense than usual. I thought to myself the smell was kinda "off". The ingredients are DEFINITELY different, this one is considered "Silicone Color Showers" instead of "Olive Oil Plus Color Showers". But my results came out wonderful and had no ill effects. By the way, what is CETRIMONIUM CHLORIDE?

Cetrimonium Chloride
What is it?

Cetrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Bromide and Steartrimonium Chloride are quaternary ammonium salts. In cosmetics and personal care products, these ingredients are used in the formulation of hair conditioners, hair dyes and colors, other hair care products, and in some skin care products

Is this stuff NOT in the old school Colorshowers?

*making mental note to buy up as much old school colorshowers i can.*:look:

When I get home, I'll post the ingredient lists from both bottles. I would HIGHLY suggest getting as much of the OG as possible.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

NEW:
Silicone Color Showers: Dionized Water, Cetrimonium Chloride, Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Propylene glycol, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Keratin, Fragrance, FD&C Red No. 33, FD&C Blue No. 1, FD&C Green No. 3, FD&C Orange No. 6, FD&C Red No. 3.
(Rojisimo)

OLD:
Olive Oil Plus Color Showers: Dionized Water, Citric Acid, Salt, Sellosize, Metil and Benzoato Sodium, Quaternium 60, Propy-lene glycol, Red Panceuax #4, Red Amarant #2, Blue #1, Blue #2, Yellow #5, Yellow #6.
(Rojo Vino)

Now it's more like all new ingredients.:ohwell:

So how would we do that? Like i usually order from RBH, so i would call in my order and specify the old c.s.?

That's the thing, the new stock is in. Usually a company sells the old first then moves to the new. She said she will check to stock to see if ther's any of the old formula left. At this point, I would hold tight and see what she comes up with. I'll keep you posted. I was speaking specifically to NeeNee280 who will be in NYC soon where they sell it in local BSS's.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

I am sooo disappointed but glad at the same time. I was wondering why I didn't love CS like everyone else did. I was expecting so much more...my color didn't last long and I hated the detergent-y smell. I wish I could get my hands on some old school Olive Oil CS...

*frown* I'm not TOTALLY sure, but I think those are metal salts - the sort of thing that is sometimes in non-BAQ henna, and I believe there are some - issues - with that being on your hair, and followed up with another chemical treatment (I think additional coloring) - but I'm not totally sure.

Let me see what I can dig up - that just sent off a HUGE red flag for me, though.

I hate it when they change formulas, man.

ETA: Didn't take me long - found this, here:

Metallic salts alter and fix a dye stain. Many “henna colors” are created with metallic salts. The most frequently used material is lead acetate, though silver nitrate, copper, nickel, cobalt, bismuth and iron salts have also been used.

Dyes with lead acetate gradually deposit a mixture of lead sulfide and lead oxide on the hair shaft.

When you hear that henna has “metal”, “lead”, or “coats the hair” and “leaves it brittle”, that refers to a compound henna dye, full of these metallic salts.

Hair bleach, permanent hair color, and permanent wave solution are a disastrous combination with compound (metallic salt) henna dyes. These can result in green, purple, or totally fried hair.

Not sure if Cetrimonium Chloride causes the same sort of reaction - I hope not - but you REALLLY might want to be sure to do a strand test before using another chemical, at this point. :perplexed

SMDH

Why do companies do this and think that people won't notice.

Oh well, this means I will have to pay the extra and get the sebastian.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

Awh snap, I just got the new bottle a month ago and I was going to use it Saturday after my relaxer. And I haven't had a relaxer in six months. Now I'm nervous! I was ready for the good ingredients now I'm getting some mess. I don't want my hair bleeding all over the place. I bought the Negro-Black.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

That, I don't know. Seems like someone on here used to by theirs in BK. I'll try doing search later. Try calling Hair Town, I don't know why that's coming to mind. http://beautyofnewyork.com/member/aboutus.php

I went to hairtown and i was like, "THIS IS IT?" I thought I was going to walk into like a hair empoirum or something. I went to some BSS in harlem. It is not the one next to the braid shop. I cant remember the name of it. I just know it is on 125th, clean and the girls dont sweat you. I was able to buy 3 bottles and got the 4th for free. But they didnt have my rojomissio so that is when I ventured into mixing colors.

:perplexedI dont know...all I remember is getting off the train and walking past the shop where the african braiders tap on the window because they want to braid your hair. There is a BSS on that street but their items are dusty. (which now I wonder...would they have old school colorshowers because they have old products...) but keep walking up and the place is bright and clean. It is on the same side of the street. The main strip. I hope that helps! :perplexed

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

hmmm.. maybe this is why i was never fully satisfied with my color showers. I have the bottle with the chick on it lol. I thought that was the old and true bottle... I'm quite upset now.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

I didn't have time to post anything when I got home, I flat ironed my hair which takes over an hour then had to take DD to cheerleading practice, then my own practice. I didn't get home til almost 1 a.m. Colorwise, I guess all that mixing turned out okay, but I keep scratching color off of my scalp. My hair is shiny as usual, but I'm still not convinced the changes made were for the better. I'm in the market for a new cellophane.

I'll take pics and update the other stuff this afternoon!

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

Umm, yea so after getting home and sitting in the window like a lonely puppy waiting for FedEx to drop my package, I get it, rip it open and look at the Color Showers bottle. No biggie, I noticed already the bottles had changed. I'm reading, the ingredients are different. Doesn't say anything about Olive Oil like the original. I'm still like eh, no biggie. I open my beloved COBRE and WTF do I find? I see exactly what Filthy Fresh was talking about; the ish looks olive green. When I stick my finger in it, it's gold. I shake, shake, shake, still effin green bull ish, no hint of red anywhere in sight. I'm so pissed right now I can't even see straight. They changed the damn formulation and I'm not liking what I see. I don't know if it's this particular distributor or what, but the last jar of once en uno I had came from the same people and I SWEAR it's different. I put some CS in a glass bowl and stirred w/a stick. This ish is actually separating, hmmm lemme see, could it be the damn silicone that they so proudly mention on the bottle? Of course the place I bought it from closes at five, so I had to come here and express my disdain, disgust and every other dis word for this new formula. I'm not putting it in my hair, you can hang that ish up right effin now. I have one of my old bottles and the color when you open it is obviously auburn, and it's of a thinner consistency. I don't know what this other bull ish is. I'm wondering if they have these damn bottles labeled wrong, this CAN'T be Cobre. I'm seriously ready to fight this bottle like a B on the street. If this is the new stuff, I can't even support it and will be removing it from my staple list. Not that it means anything, but I can't endorse this; it's not what I fell in love with :nono:.

PISSED..................................:angry2::swearing::heated:

oh my, the visual...

lmao!!! :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

-------

That would pizz me off also!

I don't like when companies start messing with ingredients....shoot if ain't broke..........................

I hope your hair turns out okay E!

It doesn't. They also use many of the "chlorides" to help keep silicones from sticking too hard to the hair strand. Its in alot of conditioners.

Eisani,

The color is very pretty on you!!! When you mixed the original CS with the new CS - did you use more of the new CS?

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

No, I only used a smidge of the new cobre to give it a darker tone. Literally about 3 squirts to about 10 oz of color.

Your hair did come out nice Eisani. I really hate when companies change things especially when the change isn't for the better. My sister tried the new colorshines and she loved it so I will be buying the red brunette and the hot red ones.

Thank you. While I got the color kinda how I wanted it, I'm just unhappy :( I might check out the Laminates colors too, couldn't hurt.

Re: New Color Showers...WTF?!

E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I am ready to go back to red now looking at your color.:lachen:

I love it. It still give that shine that old school CS is known for.

Plussss...after reading the new ingredients, you can add some olive oil to the color and still have the olive oil ingredient. That's what I will be doing. NYC was a bust. :nono:
