hey ladies,

i'm looking to get a full sewn-in weave for my graduation and i'm in need of much information, as i've NEVER done anything like this before, besides micros. i'm wondering:

1. how long the full weave normally lasts?
2. can i wash my hair and it still look nice?
3. is it better to leave my hair out or have it braided all over?

if you ladies can help in any way, i'd greatly appreciate it! cuz...i graduate in less than 2 weeks and i'm looking to get this done soon.....

p.s. if you have any pictures, please, let me know! thanks:):)

When I had mine, it lasted like two months at the maximum. I also depends on the hair. Sometimes if you wash the hair the hair gets all tangly. They have some really expensive hair called Remy from India and it is supposed to last longer and not tangle.

I wore sewn in styles for 6 months.

1. Styles normally last 6 weeks
2. I had my beautician style and wash but I would suggest only washing perhaps 2 weeks as the hair weighs down and becomes dull
3. I tried it both ways and I liked it better when I left some hair out as it blended better.

It is a fun style and I hope you have good luck. Please get a great stylist to do it!!!!!!!

Buy good quality hair, if you live in NY or Miami go to lugo's. I wash my hair every 4 days, deep condition each time, weave looks great. if you get a sew in go to a highly skilled professional stylist you don't want it too too tight. (traction baldness) I love the net weave, goodluck girl and congrats.

Bumping for more responses.

I'm getting a sew-in weave for the summer. I relaxed before Thanskgiving, braided in January, and I'm just not ready to relax again. I bought some human hair today. It's Sensationnel Goddess Remi Yaki hair. I saw this hair in a wig in the store and it looks really natural. All of the cuticles are supposed to face the same way to prevent tangling. I'm getting it sewn-in next weekend and have some additional questions for some of the more experienced members.

1. How do you care for it at night? Do you wrap it or put on a bonnet?
2. Can you roller set it? I'm probably getting it cut into a longish bob and styled straight in the salon, but I want to be able to care for it on my own.
3. How can you get it touched up as new growth comes in so the weave doesn't get loose?

Ive kept mine in for up for 3 months (all hair sewn), if you wash it, it goes funny, best bet is to leave a piece out it you want to wash it.

I usually tie it with a head scarf, i either tie it in one, or cornrow it in 2 (i like the slight wave thats left)

I have to disagree with you, when i'm weaved up i wash it weekly and it doesn't go funny nor do i leave any of my hair out!
It has to be good quality hair, I prefer waves or curls ;)

ITA: Remy Hair is the best. It doesn't 'shed' like the lesser expensive hair. It blends and holds up beautifully.
It's well worth the extra money spent. ;)
