These are killing me!! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

OMG....those are too funny. Well, I don't know if this is funny or just plain stupid. But, I didn't grow up using curling irons. My mom use to make me rollerset. So, I've never been to comfortable using them and I ALWAYS burn my ears. Well, one day I decided to straighten my hair (I had been wearing it curly for months) and I plugged up the curling iron. Normally I use it right away. But this particular day I went to iron clothes or something and I came back to flat iron. Well, I put the flat iron on my hair and low and behold my hair fell completely out of my head. Being that my hair was tailbone length at the time it really looked like a lot of hair. I just stood there looking at it in disbelief. Then I started laughing at myself. Thank goodness it was on the side of my head so it was pretty easy to cover. But, I did a hair show months later and when the guy went to cut my hair he was like what happened right here!!:lachen::lachen: I was so embarrassed and he kept telling all the other models too!
Oh my gosh! What flat iron was that?
I could never figure out how to pronounce Jojoba Oil. I always used to pronounce it jo-jo-ba oil instead of ho-ho-ba oil!

My friend and I still fight over this one. It didn't help that all the youtube videos we watched all said them different ways.

Here are mine:

  • I thought natural hair would be super easy. I just thought I could put natural oils (maybe some juices and berries :lachen:) and walk out the door.
  • I thought a texturizer was something that made your hair curly. (A texturizer ADDS texture, right?:lachen: ) I was seriously thinking of putting some on my relaxed hair to make it kink up :look:
  • I thought my hair would be 3a-3b with no frizz whatsoever.
  • I thought my hair was long at just above APL

shikakai powder was always pronounced as she-ky-ky lolol. I said it wrong for so long...i can't help it now. I still call it she-ky-ky. To add ...I always pronounced aphogee as a-pah-ho-jee. (i think its really a-fo-gee right?) Lolol. somethin like that.
Um, how is shikaikai pronounced? That's how I say it :perplexed

:lachen: at a-pah-ho-gee!!!!

I went online and googled BOGO since you guys were buying it all the time. I thought it was some sort of haute couture brand of goodies.
I did that too!!!! When I found out, I felt like a complete and utter fool! :lachen:

I just remembered one!

Me and my cousin used to sit in front of the mirror doing our hair. One day, we were talking about afro puffs when I said "I wish I could wear afro puffs, but I have good hair, it won't turn into an afro"

I really believed this too :perplexed Not knowing that the reason for this was because I was relaxed BONE STRAIGHT

I was just so damn dumb! Thank goodness for LHCF!

I've had a rough day and this thread has brought a smile to my face. When I found this site I gave myself a crash course (only got off the computer to sleep and pee - I ate on the computer) so after about a week I was pretty much a pro. But I would get so frustrated with all the acronyms I thought I'd never be able to post on here. I was thinking, these chicks must all go to some beauty school or something where the teach the secret language of hair. :ohwell:

Wow these are funny....I'm trying to figure out what I had a hard time with....I didn't know what a troll was, umm I didn't know what APL-BSL-and all the other abbreviatinos meant. I read sooo many threads wrong that when I discovered what they meant, It was a complete revelation....I mean HTH? Hope that Helps-didn't know that either. I was also like, what in the world is a Fotki? It was almost as unattractive as Twitter, which I thought sounded pretty ridiculous...I'm glad I know now. I love Fotki :o) I think that's it for now...maybe I will think of others.

What exactly IS a troll??

omg i swear i thought the same thing. i couldnt figure out why i wanted to be natural for so long but i could not get those big pretty "ethiopian" curls(at the time i thought only ethiopian girls had the natural curls.:lachen:

I just learned what ETA meant. I kept seeing that on the bottom of some posts. I finally figured it out yesterday.

When I first started on hair boards, I was always wondering why people were taking pictures showing their bras...

I still do in my head every time I read the name jojoba! Good thing I don't say it out loud to anyone. :giggle:

I STILL don't know what (or who) the heck is Niko's cousin......help:ohwell:
I JUST found this out like 2 weeks ago!! You are, I am, we all are Nikos' cousins! Nikos is the site co-owner or admin or something like that. Asking if someone is Nikos' cousin is the code question for "Are you a member of LHCF?" :yep:

oh, i just thought of one!

how bout the time i stopped getting relaxer touch-ups for only 2 MONTHS, stopped doing anything to my hair but shampooing, then swore up and down that i was natural? i even went to my hairdresser and told her to be careful with my hair because its natural now (even though once you wet it, it was straight).

Dumber than dirt. It took me the longest to figure out "PJ." I just couldn't get the connection between confessing you love pajamas and hair care.

I used to think HE conditioners was the name of an actual product. I was like where the heck do I find that? Only to find out months later HE stands for Herbal Essences.[/quote

Oooooooohhhhhhhh...... I feel stupid now.... Thanks for enlightening me :spinning:

someone who comes on discussion boards like this and purposefully says things that are offensive or controversial to stir up conflict :spinning:

Yet another thing I didn't know! I thought it meant an ugly person. In my mind I kept thinking of an ugly treasure troll doll with a jewel in it's belly.

Some trolls ARE ugly people inside AND out ...like trolls :yep:
This one face keeps coming to my mind. bleh :barf:

:lachen:me too...I avoid saying the names of these products out loud. I was pronouncing Joico wrong for weeks until I was corrected by the girl working at the store!

Um...
how do you correctly pronounce it? :look:

What's this, :look:

Sorry, I guess I will be back here learning more things. Since I have learned quite a bit from this thread alone. :look:

Hilarious, I used to think that when people say they looked like a HAM, that they meant ham literally. I always wondered why they compared their hair to cured meat. LOL
