My First Braidout - Natural 4B *pics*

How do you like it? I was looking into their Masters program for Psychology! Small world!!

I  CSUN!!!!!!

I am in the MA program in History.

I love that place. I want to teach there after heading to a PhD Program.

YOu should have come to our tea!!!!

MSA and I are getting together next week!

I'm definitely going to be trying this ! i'm seriously in awe of your hair ! how often do you straigten it? and with what? sorry if i'm asking so many questions ! and you live in valley village? small world ! i'm in bakersfield but moving to the valley for school soon (csun). do you know of any good stylists out there? or are you a total DIY girl?

Well, since finding out about LHCF, I am on a no-heat regimen indefinitely. I haven't used heat in almost two months. Prior to that, I used it maybe once every two weeks, sometimes more if I was going out....I did not take care of my hair at all. I had a good stylist (when I felt like driving out there), she was my mother :) lol So when I did not feel like driving the 45 minutes to have her do my hair, I did it myself, which was most of the time. I haven't found anyone as good since, (style wise yes, but they did not care about the health of my hair).

When I did straighten it, I used Kizure pressing combs, and Kizure flat irons. Nothing spectacular, I never added any product until after flat ironing, and that was a small dab of KMS or RUSK polisher.

My major is psychology too ! CSUN is supposed to have one of the best psych programs in the state.

they do!!!!!

Many Social science programs are fantastic - and the SUPPORT for people of color - is ridiculous!!!!!!

I have had a great ride. Being believed in is more important than anything...

Sorry - we hijacked the thread.................

Very pretty! Where do you all get your Maka from? This is like the only powder I can't find anywhere...please PM me.

Beautiful, it really came out great. Very natural looking and this was the 1st time. Well you got the technique don't change it.

Would you mind sharing your technique?
Did you start with pressed hair?
Did you braid in cornrows or individual braids?
Ty

Not at all...

I washed my hair w/KeraCare Hydrating Shampoo, followed it up with Ors Replenishing Pak. I rinsed that out with cold water. After the rinse, I took equal amounts of Maka powder, Fenugreek, and Hibiscus, poured some boiling water over it, and allowed it to cool. After that, I strained it through some cheesecloth, and poured it over my head. After that rinse, I poured about two cups of Apple Cider Vinegar over my head. I use this everytime I poo because I have VERY HARD WATER. Using the rinse, and the apple cider vinegar gives amazing slip, closes the cuticle, makes my hair shiny, manageable, and acts as a instant detangler. Apple Cider vinegar is also very close to the ph balance of your hair which helps ward off the terrible effects from hard water.

So after that, I used a spritz (made with Sodium Lactate, Aloe Vera Juice, Distilled water, a little bit of Panthenol, and Lecithin) and sprayed my hair, and did a light comb through section by section. I braided my hair in individual plaits, tied a scarf on, and went to sleep :)
