Ok, I'm a regular user of MT since August. Not long but I have had some shedding but not a huge amount if any attributed to MT. I am starting to get concerned. Let's go over your regimen to see if something may be effecting the product and creating more shed than normal. I just have a few questions:
How long are you keeping MT on your hair/scalp?
I dab it on to my scalp and my leave it there for a few days, generally 2, before my next wash or cowash.
Do you mix your MT? If so with what?
I mixed it with jojoba, silk amino acids, - I can't remember if I used castor oil. But basically I took the mix JustKiya posted and made that. I keep that in a little applicator bottle.
How often do you use MT?
2- 3x per week.
Since the shedding began have you stopped using it for any length of time?
I did stop using it for maybe 2 weeks when I first became alarmed about the shedding. After I had been taking garlic for a week and had done a garlic shampoo or two, I started back on it. I thought I would be fine because I did not notice much shedding after that.
How much hair is coming out? In hair strands or hand fulls?
Strands. But not handfuls. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I've really only ever had minimal, if any, shedding. I guess I need to count them. I've got little clumps on the floor in the shower after I wash, and I still get strands in my fingers and comb when detangling after a wash.
Have you develped a rash on your skin/scalp?
No rashes
Are you itching or burning on the scalp?
I wasn't itching until I read this question but really, no itching.
Tell me about your diet and vitamins.
My diet is decent, but could be better. I get enough protein and calcium per day. Over the last month, I've slacked off with the veggies- probably getting 2-3 per day, rather than 5. I take Iron supplements for my anemia daily, and kelp for my thyroid daily. I also take a hair vitamin and a B-complex supp, and I alternate flaxseed and Omega 3 fish oil each day.
Have no fear, Inspector Curly is on the case.
Thanks, Curly.
You know, I just thought of this- and this may be relevant. I take levothyroid, a synthetic thyroid, as prescribed by my Dr, because I have hypothyroid. I did bloodwork 2 weeks ago and she said that my levels were slightly high and she told me to decrease my dosage. I'm going to look into this to see if this might be the culprit instead of the MT. (I wonder if maybe now I'm getting too little of the synthetic thyroid, because when my levels were too low and yet undiagnosed I was cold, would have dry skin, and dry thinning hair, and very little energy.) I'm cold right now, fairly low energy and of course the hair thing.
