Hair type and length:3c layered bsl
How much does your hair grow a month: 1/2 inch or a lil over sometimesYour biggest hair problem: (breakage, dryness, etc.) Dryness, tangles, split ends:perplexed
Solution, if you've found one: prepooing, washing hair in four sections and detangling while under running water, S&D method (instead of full fledged trims everytime I see a few),airdrying, When I do use flat iron I set it on the lowest setting that will still straighten my hair(I can tell the difference with this instead of my hair feeling hot or steaming when I flat iron it still feels cool. It might have something to do with the fact that I also leave a little moisturizing conditioner in it when I rinse after a wash).
Favorite shampoo and why: Of coarse it's Cream of natures Moisturizind detangling shampoo because it does what it says . Also Amino Pon by redken(extra gentle shampoo for color treated or permed hair)real gentle on the hair and scalp and it smells good.
Favorite conditioner and why: Suave's daily moisturizing conditioner becuase it detangles my hair really well. When I rinse this after a wash I don't rinse all of it out and it keeps my hair moisturized after it has dried and it gives it alot of shine. My hair has ALOT of natural body and it kinda keeps it down a bit when I don't want big bouncy hair. I also like Ors replenishing pak:makes my hair feel moist and light weight and extra soft(smells like oranges). Salerm hair mask: Love this stuff need to get some more, EVERY time I use this when I walk I look like I'm in a pantene hair commercial the way it bounces.
Oh and I also like to deep condition and prepoo with ORS Mayo. Some good stuff:yep:.
Daily moisturizer: I use elasta QP mango butter sealed with hot six oil every other day. Also ORS rich moisturizing lotion.
Fave random hair product: Salerm hair mask
Fave Relaxer: Well... I use softsheen carson's Dark and Lovely the moisturizing one No-lye. I do it myself(I've been self relaxing for years)
Best hair tip: Sleep in a satin bonnet at night or when you at home not doing anything to keep down manipulation and to keep your hair off your clothes. And also During the hot months if you want to wear your hair down wear a shirt that has your back out a little so your hair is rubbing on your skin and noth the shirt.
What's product/vitamin/technique gives you the most growth? Well what helps me retain my growth is: prepooing everytime I wash, When I do my hair once I leave it alone until next wash(shampoo 2x a week). Instead of trimming my hair so much I just trim the split end and try to keep my hair moisturized.
What's gives you the most shine? I think I get more shine when CO wash my hair everyday for a week , and wash it out with shampoo(diluted with water)on wash day and let my hair airdry with no product(my own natural moistrized shine).
How do you wear your hair daily: It depends one week I might it flat ironde straight, another I might wear it Bunned with cone free conditioners and some oils. And the next week I might Rollerset it.
Random notes: Any particular product or details about your regimen/hair you want to share? :grin:Um lets see(it looks like I shared all of what I do) I prepoo with like 5 conditioners mixed together with honey and olive oil and let it sit for 2 hours at every wash and I deep condition once a week.

  • Hair type and length:
  • Somewhere between a type 3 and a 4. It is brastrap length currently.

  • How much does your hair grow a month:
  • I believe from 1/2-3/4 inch a month depending on the weather.
  • Your biggest hair problem: (breakage, dryness, etc.)
  • I'm not too sure, but I'll say breakage.
  • Solution, if you've found one:
  • Being gentle with my hair, and to deep condition at least once a month.
  • Favorite shampoo and why:
  • I don't really have one. I have been using organic lately because the shampoo doesn't have one of the SLS's (but I did by some Keracare though, I am going to give this a whirl).
  • Favorite conditioner and why:
  • I don't really have a favorite.
  • Daily moisturizer:
  • WGHO, its been my staple since 96.
  • Fave random hair product:
  • Hmmmmm, not too sure.
  • Fave Relaxer:
  • Revlon my mother used it on me since I was a young girl, and I figure my hair looked nice then, so why mess up a good thing.
  • Best hair tip:
  • Take pictures. It will really show you in black/white how your hair is doing. I still go back to see where I started from. I can't believe how far I've come sometimes.
  • What's product/vitamin/technique gives you the most growth?
  • I used to have a vitamin cocktail thanks to Bargello. I can't do all the vits right now, but that gave me the most growth!
  • What's gives you the most shine?
  • A dimethicone product.
  • How do you wear your hair daily:
  • I usually wear it in a bun. I hate to get comments at work about my hair. I work with the public. So a compliment here and there is nice, but for everyone to say something, it wears a little thin.

Hair type and length: 4a/4b, between APL and BSL
How much does your hair grow a month: About 3/4 in to an inch, depending on what I do.
Your biggest hair problem: (breakage, dryness, etc.) Shedding, fine hair
Solution, if you've found one: Vitamins and conditioning treatments
Favorite shampoo and why: Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo....it's natural, does not have harsh chemicals, and leaves my hair moisturized
Favorite conditioner and why: Giovanni 50/50 for now, but I'm always mixing things
Daily moisturizer: NTM daily leave-in
Fave random hair product: Giovanni Direct Leave-In, Silicon Mix, Henna - It's a Tie
Fave Relaxer: Hmmm.......Mizani?
Best hair tip: LISTEN to your hair! It's the best thing you can do!
What's product/vitamin/technique gives you the most growth? MTG/the baggie method
What's gives you the most shine? Henna, Paul Mitchell Glass Drops
How do you wear your hair daily: Under an instant weave or a phony pony.
Random notes: Any particular product or details about your regimen/hair you want to share? Co-washing works!

  • Hair type and length: Type 4a/b--Full Shoulder length
How much does your hair grow a month: Not sure but I'd say 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
  • Your biggest hair problem: (breakage, dryness, etc.)--Currently, I would say dry scalp but overall at this time my hair is doing well.
  • Solution, if you've found one: Avedas Scalp Benefits line! I love it!
  • Favorite shampoo and why: Aveda Sap Moss leaves my hair very soft after washing. I just love the way it makes my hair feel even before conditioning.
  • Favorite conditioner and why: Aveda Sap Moss and Abba Scentsational Conditioners. They are both great and give me superior moisture.
  • Daily moisturizer: I use avocado and jojoba butter (very lightly) on my edges and ends mainly. I put a teeny tiny amount throughout my hair. I then seal with jojoba oil about 3 days per week.
  • Fave random hair product: Prive Detailing Pomade. Great for holding edges down. It's conditioning and non drying and smells great.
  • Fave Relaxer: My stylist uses Mizani. She last used the Butter Blend. So far Mizani has been good for my hair.
  • Best hair tip: Invest in a great everyday(instant) conditioner, deep conditioner and leave in conditioner. Moisturizing ones and Protein ones. Purchase all 3 in each category.
  • What's product/vitamin/technique gives you the most growth? Wearing Protective styles. I wear my hair up at least 4 days per week. I'd say moisturizing and wearing the protective style truly helps my hair grow. Less manipulation, less breakage. Also Rollersetting. I don't do heat styling at all any longer.
  • What's gives you the most shine? This is something that I believe comes from the inside out. I think drinking lots of water, taking good vitamins (including Omega 3's), eating well, exercising. All give you great shiny hair from the inside. The natural 'shine' is the best shine IMO.
  • How do you wear your hair daily: I wear a 'bob' style with a side swept bang when I have meetings with clients or other business. However, if I'm going to be in for the day. I just wear my hair up in a bun or clipped up. I will do a nice side swept bang to keep it professional and cute but I wear the rest up.
  • Random notes: Any particular product or details about your regimen/hair you want to share? What works for one person won't work for everyone. Find what works for you. I don't think a person needs a lot of potions to make their hair grow. Keep your routine simple. Don't switch products often. If something works for you and your hair stick with it. Give products time to work. If you are switching products often you really will not know what is working or not working for you. Also, if you can, use the entire line of a product (shampoo and conditioner in particular). I've found this to be best for me and my hair. It seems that entire lines work very well together and they don't work so well if they are used separately with products from other lines. This way you can really see results.
  • Give yourself good scalp massages 2-3 times per week. I do this and my scalp loves it. I use my favorite Ylang Ylang oil mixed with jojoba oil to do my massages. Use the pads of your fingers and focus on your difficult areas.
  • Also, get a Pibbs dryer or other good professional dryer if you can! It will save you time and be less harsh on your hair because you can adjust the temperature and the air is distributed evenly over your hair.
Great thread!

Hair type and length: 3c-4a/b -- chin length
How much does your hair grow a month: n/a
Your biggest hair problem: dry/flaky scalp, dry hair&dehydrated ends
Solution, if you've found one: for my flaky scalp I use an organic rosemary shampoo and put some drops of jojoba and lavender oil in it, cleared the problem. Deep conditioning every week for 45 min under a hood dryer has helped my dry hair. I'm baggying my ends overnight 3 times a week, it's helping.
Favorite shampoo and why: my organic rosemary shampoo, it leaves my scalp clean but doesn't strip it off its natural oils

Solution, if you've found one:I condition wash my hair in a braid. Let my hair mostly dry in the braid before manipulating. Occasionally I use a protein conditioner. Keep hair clean.

Favorite conditioner and why: Suave Humectress mixed with VO5. The conditioners mixed together moisturize my hair very well and gives lots of slip. They work better than conditioner that are priced at 10x the amount.

Daily moisturizer:Water, NTM Silk or Herbal Essence No more breaks.
