I read this on a customer review board for the Maxiglide. Disheartening to say the least:

"At first I couldn`t even walk down the street without someone laughing at my hair. Of course being African American God did not bless me with beautiful sleek hair,"

I don't get this. Was this like someone saying what their hair was like before maxiglide? I just read a thread about someone who used the Maxiglide and got severe dmg to their hair. Heat dmg. Is it really just that important to people to have straight hair? It's more sad to me that this person doesn't feel very pretty w/ the way god created her.

This is sad. Sadly you can find statements of this sort (and even more twisted) reading the comments/reviews of any flat iron- they all give the same vibe of- "before I was buckwheat, now I'm Beyonce." I remember reading some when I was shopping for an iron awhile back.

LOL. I know it's sad, but that was funny.

I feel that God blessed me with versatility and I love that versatility. I can be curly one day, wavy the next, and straight the day after that. It's a shame that more people aren't accepting of what they have.

That sounds like something a white person who worked for Maxiglide would say. LMAO, not but a lot of black women feel this way so... you never know

I definitely agree that we should love what God gave us...that's why I'm natural and don't feel pressure to have my hair straight (all the time). But there are still a loooot of ppl who don't feel that natural hair is beautiful. I think it's gonna take some time for most black ppl to see that they don't have to have straight hair to be beautiful. I know I look good with or without Maxiglide....after I wash out this press I won't feel pressured to straighten anytime soon. But many folks just aren't there yet in terms of their thinking.

IMO for many ppl still, it's easier said than done. PPl still make childish, stupid remarks when seeing naturals so if you are a person affected by that, the tendancy is there to perceive your hair as ugly. Still a lot of work to do.

i know i love me some maxiglide cause i love to have variety sleek looks, afros, braids, buns, straight hair i m hair addict i love all type of hairs, weaves braids natural... but this is ....brainwashed self hate in its most subtil and vicious form. its sad really sad if you despise what God gave you. now you can have a preference for straight hair (i adore both looks! and love straight hair as much as i love kinky/curly hair) but i hate the way she formulated her answer it make it seems like God is unfair and made us less if u see what i mean. Thats sad she thinks that way. I feel bad for her
