I'm from the norther NJ area...I go to my stylish in Elizabeth, NJ...She does my hair sooo good and she take her time (don't rake my brain out). I love the way she wash my hair but the only thing that gets on my nerves she always complain about what products i using in my hair...Like today i went for a regular doobie...I haven't had a perm in a month now...She gives me this nasty look(like i smell like sh*t or something) and say OOH MY GOD MAMA YOU NEED A PERM...i was two minutes from slapping her down...lol...then i say nicely no not today in 2 months just blow out my roots. She get all upset and start speaking a thousand words at once in her language at the other girl working on someone else...So i gave her my shampoo and conditioner...Her eyes got all big (like i offender her) She acted like she didn't want to take it (but she did)..Then she saying "oh this makes your hair soo dry i dont like this"..I'm like ooh really???...So before she rolls my hair up i gave her my favorite Alter Ego product and she says "Dis not for your hair " , "dis for white hair"...I looked at her like i wanted to kill her..lol...My question is should i stay there b/c she does my hair soo good or is it time to move on to a better stylish...???? By the way  I took the rollers out myself and walk out with no tip for her...

Personally I would ignored her and continue to go she would stop after a while. I would only do this because she takes good care of my hair and you other options is to tell her point blank this is what is or your done with her.. I haven't gone to my stylist in over a year but when I use to go I would bring all of my own stuff. She never complained. She just used it only one time I forgot it and she used it on her clients hair from that point on. That was my only real anger moment.

Reminds me of when I used to go to the chinaman nail shops...they know they can talk about somebody:lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

If you really enjoy the way she does your hair, just let her know. Thank you but no thank you. You probably won't have to tell her again. I'd rather have a mouthy/bossy stylist do a good job than vice versa. Hope it works out for you!

I'm sure you can find someone that does your hair well WITHOUT critisizing your products or how long you go without a relaxer.

Dropkick her to the curb....

*singing* "You sent me flying when you kicked me to the curb."

Girl, just go to Angels Unisex on Rahway Ave.
They never bug u for a perm if u dont want one, and I bring my ownb products all the time.
Change stylists!

Move on...

You don't have time for her to try to project her personal issues on you. You came there to get a blowout. She need to just do it and done. If she doesn't want to do hair that isnt freshly relaxed then she should just say so. I stopped going to one Dominican salon for that. I found an Eritrean girl and another Dominican salon who will do my hair regards and who do not feel that a relaxer is needed at all.

I would move on. Sounded like she just didnt want to deal with the new growth. There are stylists out there that won't get an attitude if you dont want a relaxer. You dont have to put up with the unprofessionalism.

ETA: "Ooh my God mama, you need a perm" is just rude. It's hair not a freak of nature.

Knowing me I would eventually cuss her out and I can't stand when they do that talking about people in other languages or any language so it would be best for me to move on.

Whenever they start doing what the hell they want and copping attitudes and giving you a hard time about your preferences like they aren't getting paid to do what you want them to do, is when it's time to bizounce.

yup, your right...yea she getting the boot lol....and that big BLAD spot in the middle of her head...lmao:grin:

Maybe you should try Max's. I go to the one in Union but I hear there's one in Elizabeth as well. I have no problems. In Union, I like Xiomara and Iris and another lady who's name I can't remember but she is Afro-Dominican and looks the oldest.

Please move on.

I hate going to get a service done when the person is unprofessional like that. It makes the whole process unpleasant. It's not like she is doing your hair for free! There are stylists everywhere. And with a good lead, I'm sure you can find someone who does good work and is nice to you.

But if you really like her that much, why don't you confront her about it. And if she still gives you that nasty attitude, then I think you should roll out!

I agree that it's time to move on ... I went to school in the area for a few years, and I'm so uptight about who touches my hair that I originally I just stayed braided up, and then later started making trips back to MD every 3 or 4 months for touch ups.

Then about the last year or so I noticed that my friend's hair was growing like crazy and was very healthy, so I started going to her hairdresser. This woman had been her sister's hairdresser for some time, and I'd always admired her sister's hair. She is excellent, very professional and personable. She uses Affirm, and I think another relaxer, and will assess your hair the first time you go for a touch up and talk to you to figure out which is right for you. Then I believe she keeps a log of what she's been using on your hair and when. I never had to convince her to take care of my hair the way I wanted her to. My hair did very well with her, and she is now one of two people on this Earth that I would allow to touch my hair. Anyway her name is Bayyinah, and her shop is near Route 22 in Union. If you're interested, the # to the shop is 908-686-4247.
