"KB & Hydrate" Daily Habits Determine Your Growth
Greetings Healthy Hair Growers!

One thing I noticed that many ladies with long hair and thick hair have in common is massaging their scalps with growth oils. For added growth some people do the "inversion method" for a week periodically

I want to massage daily, but with busy days it's very easy to forget

I'm creating this challenge to hold us accountable to massage our scalps to our goal length!

Before you begin, post how many days a week you want to commit to massage your scalp. Each day you massage you'll post here and say how many days you have completed

For example., if you committed to 4 days and you're on day 2 of massaging for the week, you would post 2/4

Week starts on Sunday. Tally's will restart on Sunday

In addition to posting your days of massaging, we will post the time we spent massaging. We want to aim for at least 5 minutes, but no less than 2 minutes, but do however long you can :) You can use a stop watch or timer to know how long you've massaged your scalp

Post your days of massaging and how long you massaged on each day. That's it, Happy Massaging to your goal length!

You're more than welcome to share your goal length/density and any other hair goals you have. Massages with growth aids and heat :mwahahafire: can accelerate growth :)

Massage Days: Committing to daily massages, 7/7

Today massaged for 2 minutes inverted with a electric massager. Applied growth pomade before massaging

:curtain:

So I'm going to shoot for massaging my scalp 5 days out of the week. I usually do it while washing my hair sometimes with my vibrating scalp massager.

I'll also be massaging with WGO/JBCO mix throughout the week as well.

My goal is to reach right above Hip Length by December 31st 2025.

Thanks for inviting me to the challenge!

I’ll join. I was slacking on consistent massages even though I think they work well.

A few weeks ago I bought this Manta brush. As a finger detangler, I haven’t felt a need to buy a tangle teaser or any of the other versions, until I bought this brush. It has long flexible ‘bristles’ slightly wider spaced than most flexible brushes I’ve seen like this. I knew I’d use it most as a massager due to its ergonomic design. I’ve been using it, as well as my fingers, to massage my scalp at least every other night (maybe 3-4mins with the brush). My scalp feels tingly once I’m finished.

Welcome, let's get growing :)

What is your current length?
Thank you! It’s been a while since I’ve seen my hair out in its bulk because I’ve been in boho braids for months, redoing them individually. I had heat damage in my crown that I’ve bee trimming away. I think my hair is SL. The front is just passed my chin. The back is longer but I will be trimming for fullness and shape when I eventually take these braids out, and give my hair an overall assessment.

Wow your method of wearing braids is impressive and must be getting or maintaining nice density! I wish I could do that too but I don't wash my briads. I plan to wear them for 2 weeks at a time, 3 weeks max

I hope the hair trim/cut goes well and there will be no more set backs until goal :)

What type of heat caused the heat damage and what temperature setting if it was a flat iron?
I was doing something naughty- touching up the roots of my press but I forgot I had used a little waxy product, with an unforgiving titanium iron. That did it. I keep my iron just below 200C, usually 190 (can’t find degrees on this phone).

I hope my density is improving. I have unwanted layers. So I’m aiming for a full throughout.

I understand why you don’t wash your braids. As soon as I wash these I look like I’ve been running on the playground all day lol. I wish I could allocate time to rebraid my whole head every 3-4 weeks.

After this style, I’m considering twists, with a little added hair, so I’ll need to redo my whole head.

I probably read it somewhere but can’t recall, are your braids going to be with added hair, or fully homegrown?

how many days will you be massaging a week? The week resets on Sunday

I like layers, I'll admire your layers until you cut them away :) My hair is about the same length all over my head so it will grow out in layers

"As soon as I wash these I look like I’ve been running on the playground all day lol. "
@25InchesStarting'25 This is my current look lol because I washed these braids over the weekend. From this week, I’m massaging every other day.
How long does it take you to braid your hair? How many braids do you usually do? I'm likely to start with 48-54 braids when I do Knotless Braids in a few months. Since I take mines out within a short time, I don't want the take down to to be more than 3 hours, would be nice to be an 1 hour to 1.5 hour max
I don’t think I’ve ever counted before, but I currently have about 100 braids. I just decide how large or small I want my braids when I’m deciding on my style. I don’t pre-part my hair but I do section in quadrants. Braiding my own hair usually takes me a couple of days, but I like to take my time and watch something. My takedowns never feel long because I remove shed hair and any build-up at regular intervals (every 3 or 4 weeks or so). Everything can be removed, washed and dried on the same day.
"After this style, I’m considering twists, with a little added hair, so I’ll need to redo my whole head."
Redoing twists should save a lot more time than doing braids, I hope you like them :)
Thank you. I haven’t worn twists for years. I’ve been watching a lot of mini twist videos recently, and I’m feeling inspired. Although I have no intention of doing mini twists just yet. In the past, my fine hair and raggedy ends from the occipital bone up, would leave me with deficient scalpy looking twists. So I’ll be adding textured human hair to avoid that.
"I probably read it somewhere but can’t recall, are your braids going to be with added hair, or fully homegrown?"
"Knotless Braids" uses added hair, it's called "Knotless" because there is no "knot" at the beginning of the braid like traditional extension braids. I think adding hair protects the ends. I think I will always add hair no matter how long my hair is. You have to make sure not to add too much hair and not products that will cause damage at the root
Yes, I know too well that too much tension is detrimental. Plus, I don’t like the look of too much hair for amount of hair within a section. I like knotless. I choose not to for myself because my roots just wouldn’t last, and I do love to drag out a style  .

I think I found the answer to save us time! Have you seen Knotless Twists?

You start it just like Knotless braids then twist the rest :) Idk why I didn't think of that long ago

I think I will be trying that instead. Take down should be an hour or under and would make wearing them 2 to 3 weeks worth it :)

I used to put my kinky twists in with this method. Well I’d used the Senegalese method where you twist the hair into the twist (without braiding first)- kind of knotless twists. This was a long time ago, before people forgot they didn’t have to slather your head in product to achieve neat parts. Now that is all I see. I haven’t decided what method I will use yet, but I’m leaning towards the traditional attachment style.

This is my first full week of applying minoxidil with my scalp massages. One big thing some dread is the shedding of hair with the start of use the product.

Today with washing, I still didn't have a lot of shed hair. Massaging consistently has helped keep shedding to a minimum.

I'm joining in hopes of becoming consistent, at least for the next 2 to 3 months.

This morning: 5 minutes using my fingers (scritch and preen/scoop and spread) + 5 minutes using vibrating massager + ~3-5 min brushing my hair with a goat hair brush.

Yay you made it! :)

I use an electric massager too and it feels amazing! I don't use it in the shower. I have a satin scarf or plastic shower cap on when using it

Have you noticed a noticeable difference when you use vs when you do not use WGO? Which one do you use?
It died :cry4:

Literally my experience. It dies right after the return window, not fair:laugh:

I don't have time to research a replacement right now. Going to make sure to use Tee Tree +/- Peppermint EO for added stimulation during massages in the interim

6/7, 5 Minutes
Notes: Dead (Electric) Massager (Still feels good :) ), Inverted (Standing), Used video for timer, Applied Rice + Fenugreek water with Tee Tree + Peppermint EO before massage
