 Here here to healthy FULLL hurr, and thank you Denver! You are always so sweet! As far as SO, he is taking it harder than me. After I said I was gonna cut it he got all sentimental. :lachen: Not gonna work! And he needs to get over it because he WILL be cutting it for me this weeked!

I will post pics after the cut and show yall!:D

Lol, you are just trying to torture his poor little soul! I'm sorry your going through the breakage thing, but as everyone here has said, you are such an inspiration!!! You'll probably be WSL before you even realize it. You and your hair are both beautiful. Best of luck!

I respectfully request that you do 2 trims to BSL, and not one big chop. I really don't have a problem with it if you are one of "those people" who hang on to the length. I like "those people" and stalk their albums too. Is this too much to ask. Can we vote on it, or what? (j/k)

I just finished stalking your fotki, your hair looks good to me. Can you just cut where the breakage begins? Is it really necessary for you to cut? Are you sure your eyes are not playing tricks on you:lol:  . You know, we are our worst enemies when it comes to our hair.

I thought I was cutting where the breakage begins. It's in such an odd spot that i can't cut around it without that ugly gap being there. Trust me, I though of all alternatives.

aww mami - I'm so sorry about this. It's heart felt because this is close to home for me. I have a shorter version of the very same exact thing you have going on. I have breakage in the nape on the right side too. I baggy too but just a moist one now - no need for a wet one anymore because the condition of my hair improved. But now that you have mentioned this maybe a dry baggy will have to do and I started that starting today. I will have to cut too and I'm soo dissapointed because I feel like I don't have anything to cut and I'll be right back at neck length. I'm so saddened.
Do you have fine hair locksofluv?

ETA: I will have SO take more when he comes back to Cincy this weekend. I don't see the spot, but maybe it is my camera.

Nope my hair ain't fine. It's coarse but it's not that thick, but it's not fine either. Just medium I guess.

Let me know what you decide to do.

I did and it looks the same. Maybe it is a shadow from the rest of my hair. Imma inspect more when SO comes back and is able to take the pics from the back. Because just combing in the mirror I don't see it.

I am not seeing the breakage in those last pics, listen miss lady I don't care if the hair is on your hair, but just don't cut that beautiful mane, don't be like that you have people like me who love to look at a beautiful head of hair, you just can't go cutting like you feel its only your hair lol, ok I'm kidding but don't cut it please it looks healthy as hell to me.

ummm - I didn't see any in those last pics either. I mean I saw it in the original pic but .... Are u sure you wanna do this?

LocksofLuv,

Loving your progress girl! But, I TOTALLY understand what you're saying and what you're trying to do. I have cut all of of progress and started all over again for the sake of having perfect hair (not once, but twice!)

I will honestly tell you though, that it does NOT look bad to me at all. Seriously. However, I totally understand where you are coming from as your goals are VERY similar to mine!

HHG!
ITA with this post. In April of 2005 I big chopped from APL to chin length without batting an eye. My stylist was even hesitant to do it. I had heat damage that couldn't really be "seen" but I could tell from the flyaways it was there. So I decided to chop it all off b/c I'm a perfectionist too when it comes to my hair. (I took a pic of it before I chopped, I'll see if I can find it on my old phone)
Anyway, I want full, healthy hair, or no hair at all. LOL. Plus, I had my hair in 2 big layers and the only way to take off the damage with the least amount of hair gone was only more layers, which I didn't want. So I shocked the world and did it. I atually loved the cut and embraced it b/c my hair was COMPLETELY healthy. Plus, I made it sexy. :D Everyone loved it too.

Now my hair is 2-3 inches past where I had chopped it and I couldn't be happier. So I, too, understand where you're coming from. This hair thing IS serious to all of us here and seeing progress going down the drain is disheartening, but having hair you are fully in love with makes it all worth it. We're here for you!

Sorry ladies I gotta do it. It will be best. My feelings are VERY hurt because 1. I so didn't see it coming and 2. I don't know what the cause is.

So instead of shedding tears over it (yes I have been crying:lol: , this hair stuff is serious game to me- I spent a whole year of my life feeling unpretty and avoiding social parties because I couldn't wear my hair down, it was a BIG deal) I came up with a game plan. I am doing Aphogee the big protein and from there I will be:

1. Going back to regular protein treats. I was using Aphogee keratin spray once a week, and I am assuming that might not cut it anymore. I will go back to monthly protein treats (when I get the funds I will buy Nexxus Emergencee, but for now Duo Tex or Essations Hair Mender will have to do).

2. Very safe detanging. I will stop going crazy on my hair on wash day and take my time. Instead of airdrying in a ponytail, I will just twist it up,in one big twist.

3. Still protective styling-sans bun and baggie. The breakage (pic below) is caused from my nape and I don't know what exactly is causing it so I will eliminate those two things just to be safe. I will wear it in my old lady twist up style like I used to do. I think the extra moisture from bagying has made my nape extra weak. Still not sure.

I know it sounds drastic cutting all the way above APL. But hear me out ladies:
Breakage.jpg

I have circled in red the breakage. Since the breakage is in such an odd spot, I can't cut around it without still having that void. So I have to get it now.:ohwell: So I will cut where the blue line is. It's not THAT bad girls (yall are so sweet  ) and I am actually looking forward to the new start. My SO is making it such a big deal. But of course his ghetto butt don't see anything wrong with it. Bless him's heart.

If I play my cards right, I will hopefully make WSL in 2009, damn that sounds so far away. And 6 inches from that ( a year from now) I may actually be at MBL when I thought I would be at WSL. Which ain't tooo bad. It's only about 6 mos down the drain.:ohwell:

Well with that being said. I am gonna wear it down this week and enjoy it and show these people at my school that I actually have hair. Thank yall so much for the support. I needed it! Here Here to nice full WSL!

Girl..its not as bad as u making it out to be. Your hair still looks great and full. I left this in your fokti, but I'll say it again. If I was you I would probably wait. I would start babying the hair for awhile. Especially the breaking part, be real careful putting that into a bun if u do. Maybe not bun & baggy as much anymore. For some reason I think that has something to do with your breakage.
Like u said, 1 aphogee treatment. No more touchups, overnight deep conditioning and moisture on ends. Less combing or brushing. If u don't see it growing by midsummer then do the cut. But right now your hair is full enough and long enough to hide the damage and work on that damage.
U don't have to listen to me tho..lol.I know what works sometimes doesn't work for every1.

GO for it, I got your back. Because it's going to always bother you if you don't

After i make APL I"m going to cut 2 inches off my hair because My ends are frizzy. This always happens when i go from natural to relax.

Ok now that I've seen the second pics I won't let you cut it... your hair is fine girl.
In fact it looks great!
Maybe it's just the way your bf combed it...

Just coming in to lend some support. I know what you are going through, trust me :cry3: Thats why I had to back away from my album for awhile, b/c I am still traumatized. My hair looked okay, but it wasn't up to my standards. All it took was one look at Ms. Dsylla and I knew what I had to do  so, I've taken a few pics but I still have my newer albums set to private so that only I can see them for now-- just until I am finished with the healing process. I also have that thing where one set of pics looks fine and then in another lighting it looks see through and then in another setting/camera... it is very frustrating.

My hair drama was hard to see with all my hair straight down, but if you parted it layer by layer, you could see that just below the crown area there was a problem. I figured out that mine came from sliding hair pins under my bun in the same spot over and over. There was also some heat abuse. :look: The hair there looked like someone had just cut it straight across with scissors and it was like 3-4 inches long.:ohwell: So for awhile I covered it up each day and kept it moving, but I didn't have the confidence to keep up that charade for much longer. So I hacked it between apl and bsl and haven't looked back. I want the length like everybody else, but it has to be "right." I want those ends that don't have to be "smoothed or pieced together" for a picture-- b/c whatever angle, they are camera ready, ya know what I mean? So while its a slower journey, it's still definitely one that I can be proud of.

You can trim on your own time, no need to hack it all in one shot unless that is your style! I did an agressive trim every other weekend or so until I had a new, fresh growing point that I could live with. Hang in there MM, you know we are right behind you no matter what you choose!

I'm with sylver2 on this one!!! Locks you know how much I love your hair and it really doesn't look bad at all. Don't go hacking all that hair at once, baby it and give it some time to recover. BUT if you really want to do the trimming thing do a small micro trim, not that big ol trim that you have planned Missy!!

I think the bolded is the bottom line for me right now. I still got a week to think about it. As bad as I want to ignore it and let it grow out I will still always know it's there and will be basicaly scared to touch it for fear of it getting worse. Man it sucks.

Sylver I am actually contemplating your option right now. Also like you said it is a great chance it is the baggy/bun, so Imma go without the baggie or bun for about 2 or 3 mos and see where it takes me. Imma jst do what you said, but I actually came to peace with cutting it (I know that is weird lol). Like I told Secret, I still got a week so we will see.

Well thanks to you Sista I actually think cutting isn't a big deal anymore. So it's YOUR fault j/k. But that cut you had in your siggy for a while was fabo and it made me not scurred anymore. But I get what you said about smoothed and pieced. I feel like I want them to be perfect. Look at the long hair heads on here. I cant think of one of the long hair gurus who have ugly ends. Damnit I want that too!

On that siggy pic he didn't comb it at all. That's when I found it.:ohwell: So this is HIS fault lol, j/k.

Imma contemplate it, but right now I am agressively going for the trim. I nun woke up this morning with my mind already wrapped around it. But I guess I can still think it through. Looking at that siggy that is a LOT of progress. Almost 4 inches=8 mos.:perplexed

I think you should do what makes you feel best about the appearance of your hair. I have always been a trimmer until last year I stopped trimming to gain length which I did but in my opinion my hair did not look up to my standards. I like my ends to be full and even. So even though everyone was giving me props for my length I was not happy with it and if you are not happy with it than you wont be content. I think your hair is beautiful as is but I do understand where you are coming from. Good Luck
