Lo-mani challenge #2 (dec 07- apr 08) -- this one is easier. :)

Just wanted to say thank you Sareca for starting the first low manipulation challenge. I learned something new about my hair! It thrives when left alone. I really can't believe how much my hair changed in three months...I didn't start at the beginning of the challenge I joined much later but it still worked! It took some getting used to but I'm glad I stuck it out. It paid off so I think I'll keep up with the lo-mani:yep:.

Low manipulation helps me out tremendously too. In fact, I want to stretch my relaxer for at least 18 weeks or more and I think I will weave it in two 5 week intervals, rest 2 weeks between each sew-in. Deep Condition and protein treat also while on 2 week rest. I am now 1 and a 1/2 weeks post so I have a long way to go.

I won't put the sew-in until about 6 weeks post so in the mean time I will try not to comb my hair except on wash days. I'm condtioning a lot though this time. I don't want to go through what I went through during my last relaxer stretch. My new growth was ridiculous to manage especially using the mn and sulfur mix during my last 5 weeks of my stretch.

This time I have my coconut milk, lime and yogurt to help me with my stretch. If these don't work then I will refer to the thread I started earlier this month on what to use for my stretches to make them more manageable. If there are anyone interested in the link, then here it is:

Thanks Sareca for the tips on Silk Amino Acids which I will add to my conditioners and mascara.

Happy Growing everyone!

How is it going so far ladies???
I've been keeping my hair moisturized and bunned seven days a week :yep:
I am excited about this challenge b/c lo-mani (KISS) is how I wear my hair anyway so this challenge will be a breeze. I am 9 weeks post right now so I don't plan on manipulating it anyway, oh except New Years Eve when I do a braidout but after that I'll be back to bunning.

I'm at 9 days, but I'm probably going rollerset tonight. I wanna wear my hair straight for NYE.

How's it going ladies?

I'm been messin' with my hair alot. My puffs look funny now that my hair is longer so I've been trying to find a different style. :(

I'm just gonna have to live funny lookin because my hair does best when lo-mani excludes not only the comb but unnecessary touching too.

I don't knwo if I officially added myself to this challenge or not :look:, if not, then I'm in!

This works out perfectfully for me since I will be getting kinky twists on May 3rd.

I am now currently 3 weeks post relaxer and I joined the wig challenge for a year thread and so this challenge is a breeze for me also. I want to wear a weave when I'm about 6 weeks post for 5 weeks at a time until my stretch is at least 20 weeks post this time. My last stretch I made it only to 14 weeks. My weave/wig wearing has made this challenge easy for me, otherwise I can't keep my hands out of my hair. So not being able to see it has helped me tremendously.

Still lo-mani also. I co-wash every 3 days and figercomb my natural hair in shower to detangle and then wear a bun. I will be doing this until my b-day Feb 16th.

Things have been going well since I have been on Holiday break for almost a month. I have had my hair in the style Alicia Keys had in the "No One" video for two weeks. The style where it you make a side part and flat twist it from the part around the edges of your hair and it ends in a braid that lays on the shoulder on the same side as the part you made. (Ok, so I probably didn't describe that well. Here's the link to the video and you see the style at 2 minutes and 46 second into the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktUSIJEiOug ). I let the braid hang or event twist it into a side bun. That style was so pretty and I liked it.

Since then it has been in a single French braid. I don't like that style as much, because I can't get the top of where I start the braid to lay flat even with a scarf. I am starting work in 2 more days and now I actually care what my hair looks like. I am too lazy to recreate the Alicia Keys hair style, so like you I think I am going to do a bun. It isn't exciting but I can take it down every two days to do my massage and oiling routine. I would love to find a different style that is easy to create too.

I can't wait until my hair is long enough to do that! :drunk: I love the pic in your siggy too. I love me some big hair.

ummmmm... cani i join??? i know im late, i just found the other thread which brought me to this one. hope its not too late

I have barely touched my hair since Sunday....

I love my wig.

I'm going into work tomorrow to catch up on things....
which would leave me with Sunday to rest...

so, I'm really going back and forth if I even want to wash/condition my hair or not....I'm like f it. I can make it another week without barely touching it...that will be lo-mani max...

I really like leaving my hair alone, I've barely been thinking about it..
too many other things to focus on right now I guess...

I am rambling...I am sleepy..

*sigh*

Hey SXYHAIRFETISH. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. I am really enjoying this challenge and hope you do too.

Oh and Sareca, thank you for the compliment. I love big hair too. Maybe I will let it out again after the challenge is over. Hopefully I will have gained noticeable length by then.

:lachen: @ sleepy ramble.

I've been bunning the last week or so. I haven't been doing it everyday, but at all is weird for me. I can't stand protective styles. :barf: But I'm not bunning to protect my hair. I actually think it looks cute. The last time I had a bun this big it was a phony pony. :yay: I have to be careful tho. My ends don't like to be bent and tucked all day. :nono:
