Hey Ladies!!!

I know - that in some respect - we have all tried move forward in our 'Hair Story'

In that regard - some things work for MOST- and many things don't work at all!!!!

I got a list....Not that long - but here goes.

1. Shea Butter

Lord ha'mercy............this stuff is awful on my hair.... I know many people love it. But boy - it makes my hair Crunch big time. I got 5 lbs of it - and I guess I will be making gifts this summer.... Shea lotion...:nono:

2. HENNA..............

Ok - after 2 tries.... I feel like my hair is wierd feeling....Cassia is great..But henna - is leaving much to be desired.

Looser Texture??? Nope. Split ends reduced??? um - nope.

After my next henna treatment - This will be my last dance with it.... I have to do it - to get my hair Black again.... :nono:

Henna is not for me... and I got a whole Box of that...........

I need cassia!

What about you ladies? What was the Bees Knees for the board - but no for you???

Growth aids of any kind - my scalp hated me when I tried them ..

The week I tried MN (I had headaches!) and then a few weeks later I decided to try ORS Nape and Temple Balm (my scalp was peeling off like dry skin)... I am not trying any kind of growth aid again.

Anything Nexxus

ORS relaxer

Dominican conditioners (especially that blankety-blank Miss Key!)

Perfect proof that not everything that works for one person works for another: Shea Butter and Henna work well for me.

Shea Butter
Coconut Oil
Ecostyler gel
Elasta QP Mango Butter

All left my hair hard.

OP, I am really interested in hearing more about why henna didn't work for you. It definitely can't fix split ends and while some experience curl loosening from it right away they say it is temporary. Those who say that it changed the texture of their hair experience this after several applications.

I think what you mix the henna with and how much water you use really makes the expereince. I just henna'ed for the first time and it was easy to apply and remove and I experienced no drying. My hair does feel different though in a way I can't describe and I noticed that I can use less product with better results after one application.

I used Lavendar's recipe for my 2nd aplication....

My hair does not retain moisture as it did before. I do not like that change at all....

It takes too long for the Moisture balance to return for me....

the Sulfur recipe - I was warned by the person on Fotki who has the recipe on her site but I ignored it. I had pimples the size of newborn babies! I also got a nasty rash on my neck. I was nasty for about a month and threw all that sulfur away in the garbage. I was scratchin my neck like the David Chapelle character in my siggie LOL

ORS Replenish Pak
Not really a huge product here but Silk Elements Mega silk treatment (something like that)
v05 conditioners

just terrible.

Coconut oil- my hair starts breaking
shea butter( If its mixed in a light moisturizer its ok) but alone :nono:
glycerin and water
aloe vera gel

I don't know what Lavendar's recipe is but I think one of the reasons that some people find henna drying is because they don't use enough water. I mixed henna with only water and some ACV and 210 grams of henna absorbed 700 grams of water! My mix was still as thick as my dcs. I figure that if you don't add enough water than the henna will pull the water out of your hair.

Anything Keracare...

ORS Lye Relaxer...

SE Lye Relaxer (made my hair shed)...

Pantene Breakage Defense (does nothing for me)...

ORS Replenishing Pak- Did nothing for my hair
Paul Mitchell The Detangler- My hair laughed at me
Giovanni Direct Leave In- Did nothing

 Me too. I tried to work with it for so long, mixing it with anything. I was overzealous and bought 2 lbs. I've been using it on my body, and I have given some away to family.

Dominican conditioners- I have relaxed hair and they make my roots puffy and harder to straighten

Glycerin-fells like their is a film on my hair.

Girl, how did you miss sulfur gate? Don't tell me you got the 100% 50-11 proof sulfur. :lachen::nono:

Glycerine really didn't work for me.

Infusium 23- leaves my hair hard
V05 , Suave, White Rain cheapie conditioners- does nothing for my hair when co-washing. My ends stayed dry when using this stuff.
SCurl Activator/Glycerin- just coats my hair does not moisturize
Jojoba oil- does absolutely nothing for my hair
Avacado oil- same as jojoba
Lustra Silk Olive Oil Cholesterol Conditioner- does nothing at all unless you mix it or doctor it up. Very crappy when used alone for DC'ing
NTM Silk Touch Leave In- Loved at first but then noticed that all the silicone just coated my hair and made it hard to keep moisturized, ends stayed dry
Rusk Smoother- same as NTMST

Edited: Still adding on to my list
Elasta QP Mango Butter- made my hair hard and did nothing to moisturize my hair
Silk Elements Lye Relaxer (regular)- left my hair severely under processed
Aphogee 2 Step- Hated this stuff. Drys too hard and my hair didn't feel right for along time even after DC'ing with a moisturizing conditioner.

That's all I can think of now.

Pantene Breakage & Defense mask - made my hair dry
Jane Carter Nourish & Shine - I paid a lot of money for it but it did nothing for my hair
