In response to Cynamonkis:

4. On the GrowAfroHairLong.com site, they spoke of spraying the hair with Infusium 23 and African Pride or African Royal braid spray. Has anyone tried this? What were the results in terms of shedding and build up when taking out the braids?

I spray my braids with Luster S-Curl moisturizer. I used African Pride but hated the smell and found it wasn't very moisturizing. Adrienne posted a long time ago that she used Luster when she had braids, and I've been doing it ever since. In terms of buildup, other ladies here seem to avoid it but I always have build-up to deal with. I think it happens just from spraying the braids daily, and I found that washing really sets the build-up at the base of the braid. I just take my time when removing them and gently ease the buildup out.

6. My stylist said I shouldn't go for more than one month in the braids, but I have read here and elsewhere of people going 6-8 weeks with them on and I was frankly looking for a 6 week hiatus from dealing with my hair. How long do you usually keep them in?
I kept braids in for 4 months once, but 3 months is usually my limit.

:yep: yep ! Add me to this one! I fell off the last challenge, so its getting warm here in nashville 80' and I ain't gonna be tryin to fool with some hair in this heat ya know ! my 9 yr old will be on this also w/ me :D

Can I join in?

I just took down my braids last 2 weeks after wearing them for 2 months. I plan to relax my hair this saturay, since I've stretching for more than 4 months. I intend to rebraid in october...
I want to go from shoulder length to brastrap in a year by using Robin's method.. wish me luck please!

I just got braids last week. I thought this was a new post. Thanks anyway for bumping this post up. The information is very useful.
