babies shouldn't be given honey unless they are over the age of 2. even if regular honey was going to be used on my hair i still wouldn't get the cheaper version. the chemicals and metals could still enter through your scalp which is why i try to use products that are mostly natural. local honey from bee keepers is another alternative to organic honey from a health food store, a local beekeeper is very much like a local farmer.....they don't have the the time money or resources to add chemicals to their stuff and be ratchet like large scale factory farmers owned by corporations. i use organic molasses in my hair mixes it does the some thing just a darker color.

What is Natural News? Sounds interesting

kim www.naturalnews.com. They have very great articles over there. They rejected from merging with the Huffington Post/AOL b/c they didn't want their content to become well fabricated and mainstream. The writers contribute voluntarily to help get the word out to others.

Btw, I live in Southern VA and we don't have a Whole Foods nor a Trader Joe's and I'm not sure of any beekeepers around here. So would anyone know of anything in Greensboro, Eden (both in NC) or in Lynchburg, VA or anything neighboring Danville in which I can get some authentic, organic honey from. I loveeeee honey but haven't had it in awhile b/c of it's impurity from the stores.

Thank God I only buy my honey at the co-op (or Whole Foods in a pinch) - all local, raw and organic.

Thanks for sharing, I will send this to a few people I know.

I found two sites so far that sell organic honey and can be shipped for ppl like me who don't know of any local beekeeper nearby.

www.edensnectar.com
www.carlislehoney.com

I haven't purchased from neither one, but I think I'll purchase from Carlisle Honey and then come back to make a review on it. She has some other interesting stuff on her site such as where they keep the bees and so forth.

OP,

Thanks for the article. I was buying organic honey from Whole Foods and decided to save some money and buy a large jar from my a large grocery store.. I'm about to go read the lable of my big cheap jar o honey..I may have to go back to my organic..

^^ correction, I got my honey from Target, lol. It's targets brand Pantry. Says 100% grade A honey.. But nothing else. Hmmmmmm..there is no stamp on the bottle certifying who said it's grade A honey..just says it..wow, can't trust nothin..well if it says organic and I buy from Whole foods or Trader Joes, I feel a little more comfortable with the authenticity of the labeling due to U.S regulations on using the term "organic." oh well, better to spend a little more than buy something fake or worse, harmful..

I only use raw unheated/unfiltered organic honey from health food store in my hair; I don't consume honey anymore in my teas. If I want anything sweet in my tea, I use either raw sugar, or pure cane sugar.

thanks :( aww this sucks

organic honey is expensive but i pretty much use it exclusively for my face (my hair doesn't like it but maybe because it's not real who knows) so i think it won't effect me too much.

Does anyone know how much the trader joe's honey is?
