i might have to straighten my hair soon!

Well, I think as long as you are dressed appropriately and your hair is well groomed and clean, that they will not even blink at your twa. If you feel super uncomfortable though I guess straightening it is the way to go. I have a job interview here soon, but I am going in with my hair out. I really just don't think it would make a difference as long as I had everthing else in order. Good luck whatever you decide!
i do have everything else in order, and good luck to you too :) my going to wear it out as well now

I'd go with the second pic, actually - maybe just a band pushing your hair back - you want the style to be as simple as possible. :yep:

And Good Luck!!!! :bouncy:

I would wear my TWA. Imagine how distracted you will be if you get there and the air conditioning is broken and you start to perspire and your straightened hair starts to revert. You'll be sitting there thinking about your poof when you could have just worn a TWA to begin with.

Besides, as a former bank employee, I can tell you that your hair style has nothing at all to do with you as a character of integrity - who can not only count money but be honest and confidential while handling that money.

ROCK YOUR TWA with pride.

id rock my twa...no frontin here...i mean a twa is ur natural hair i dont feel it should b hidden for an interview ya kno :look:

i work at a bank. i wore it straight & in a bun for the interview at the corporate office. then after i got the job, i snipped off the rest of my relaxed ends & have been wearing it natural at my branch. banks are pretty conservative, but the one i work at is very business casual. plus, almost everyone is a white female 25-50. they wouldnt say anything to me about my hair as long as its out of my face :look:

thanks and i will
i appreciate your words of encouragement and i like it that you were a former bank employee

I flatironed my hair for the week of my interview and training, and was hired on the spot last week.

Then I went right back to my texturized puff after all the papers were signed and they couldn't go back on hiring me.

ETA: Now that I look back on it, the way I wore my hair had nothing to do with whether I got hired. I would just wear it, plus your hair looks fine how it is, and professional.

lol played it smoothe

and yes i agree they would have hired you anyway we have so much potential an that is what makes us keep the job

Okay, I am going to be a flip-flopper and agree with Iris:wallbash:. You are trying to get a job, not make a statement, in which case it may be necessary to conform until you get your foot in the door.:perplexed When I had a twa, I had worked for my company for well over 4 years at that point. Do what your
instincts dictate. Good luck to you:grin:.
ITA.. as the saying goes. "When in Rome..." :ohwell: I think your TWA is beautiful, also! But, this is about a job, not who can mostly be themselves. When you are uncertain, then do what you feel. If you KNEW without a shadow of doubt, to rock your TWA, then we would agree 1000 times over. But, you asked, and that says something?:look:

now im debating on this or that

with a head band

Definitely the second pic. I work for a PR firm, but on the conservative side, and one of the accounting billers was hired with no twa, BALD! She hates hair on her head in the summer. So, do you!

Don't wear a flower. Just wear a nice headband. The flower isn't too "corporate".
I am glad that you decided to rock your TWA.
This isn't necessarilly directed at you OP but in general:
It is sooo frustrating to hear that people still are scared to wear their hair natural to an interview. Believe it or not, you can still be let go after the papers have been signed. If a company doesn't like a natural style then they won't like you anyways, even if you straighten it. I think it is best to find out up front what type of organization you could be potentially be working for.
I mean really, all that noise about proving yourself then showing yourself is nonsense it's one in the same if you want to be real.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR INTERVIEW!!!!

^^ Nope. And you see the pic in my siggy, was from wearing twistouts and eventually letting my hair do its own thing. I get a lot of compliments on it at work and I dress pretty conservative.

I agree No Flower!! I am switching Jobs now and went on the interview with my hair looking just like my avitar and got hired, You'd be surprised at how many people wanna short cut but are too scared because of what others think about them! The only reason I wore a wig a couple months back is because I was BALD and that sun was tearing my head up, I said soon as hair grows it is off LOL!!!

you have a great point and i agree with you. :yep:
i want to wear my twa i just dont want it to be a distraction[not that id wear my fro hawk:giggle: ]

your hair isn't "loud" enough (it's not a baa, intricate/very large braids, fro-hawk, crazy colour etc) to be so much of a distraction that the interviewer would focus on that over you, imo. if they do or take your hair negatively, then i think it would be best to walk away from a company that is prejudiced enough to frown upon neat, well taken care of (and pretty!) natural hair. i think your hair will be a non-issue; worries over how hair will be taken in a new work environment is a common concern with many new naturals. good luck on your interview :).

I wish I saw this when it was initially posted. I'm curious to know what the wrong impression the OP was referring to?

Glad to see she decided to do what felt best :yep:

The idea that some folks feel restricted because of their natural hair texture is not frustrating but rather sad. Sad that in some way feel the need to hide who we are to be accepted. All of the reasons in the book are excuses for what we chose to believe or to support what we already believe, not to challenge it. The moment we change, the world will change.

yeah....good bump!
