I know men lie about the inches...but the ladies?

OT: I know, dumb to be off topic in my own post but your hair looks gorgeous. How do you prevent your hair from frizzing?

thanks! the only thing for my hair that seems to get rid of frizz are gels (which i dont like using ) or leaving a bit of conditioner in my hair as leave - in, applying any additional product to soaking wet hair and airdry without touching till its completly dry.

My mom asked me something similar because of the amount of time I spend on the boards and the time I take on my hair now. I told her even if HALF the people are on here lying, just look at the difference in my hair since I've been on the boards. SOMEBODY on here must know what the hell they are talking about because she lives in the same house with me and see FIRST HAND the difference in my hair since June.

We need to out some people. I do think there are some people who call themselves 100% natural and are actually texlaxed... just like some folks tilt their hair back to make the hair look longer...

Well, I do think people lie on the board, but you know what people lie in real life too. I know some of us have hair role models up here and admire them and the things that they do. But the person that matters the most is the person we see in the mirror. If XYZ says that her hair is 48 inches, it doesn't make my hair 48 inches.

This thread was in no way meant to be an LHCF bash. I believe that 99.99% percent of the woman on here worked for everything they got. And I am certainly not looking for an excuse to hinder my greatness...or the the greatness of my napps if you want to give them the credit...but I was curious when I saw these repeated claims and that is all this post was meant to be...a curious question being expressed.

I feel you.

But I just get upset.
It's like I've finally come to see that black women CAN grow long hair and hearing things like this makes me realize that no matter how much you do, some people STILL just won't acknowledge your hard work and will chalk it up to you being mixed/a weave wearer/ short-torsoed/ a neck bender.

Agreed. I think there are something like 27,000 members here? There are bound to be some truth stretchers out of thousands of people.

Go into a football stadium filled with 27,000 and guess what? There will be some liars in the place! That's just reality.

Oh, not all. His name is Antonio Puerta and he was a 22 yr. old Spanish footballer that collapsed on the field during a game a couple of months ago. He had several heart attacks on the way to the hospital and died. I was watching the game when it happened and I just couldn't believe that it happened to someone so young and seemingly healthy.

He and his lady were also expecting a baby.

I think for the most part people have been honest about their hair. Those of us who wear wigs, half wigs, weaves, & lf as our protective styles always say so. When you check out fotkis, you'll see folders with wig styles, weaves, etc. Some people list it in their siggy, just as I do. Others will even start a thread about getting a new wig or weave.

I'm not really concerned about trying to find out who is a fraud. There are so many honest ladies here who have helped so many with their hair journey. I'm just trying to grow some long & healthy hair and have fun doing it with others who have the same goal.

I frequently see that happen where individuals claim they grew 10 inches of hair in a month due to 5 hours of scalp massage, taking 100 different vitamins a day, wishing on a star, tilting their heads back or hunching up their shoulders. I actually find it funny, so it's no big deal to me.

I also find it suspect when they're SL or something and claim to get 1"+ a month but seven months later they still ain't even APL. That's when you hear about "Oh but I trimmed my hair several times, etc., etc..."

really, it's all about reading between the lines.

personally i don't care if someone lies, just don't broadcast your over-the-top products, techniques or other (xcuse the pun) hair-raising schemes to folks who are honestly, and sometimes desperately looking for some help because you aren't and couldn't possibly help them one little bit.
