They don't need to go to your head like that. They are passed through the stomach and then into the bloodstream. They'll get there just fine without the headstand.

Prettygirl there was a whole big thread on PPB biotin. How fast you will see any effects depends on the person. I will bump the thread when I find it. It's Curly Crly's PPBiotin thread.

Also, some ppl noticed their nails growing faster before they noticed hairgrowth. Others noticed the hair growing faster and then the nails. It really depends on the person.

Ladies,

I looked over my vitamins and this is my overall Biotin dosage:
Multi-vitamin~50mcg (17% dv)
Nourishair~600mcg (200% dv)

Is this a reasonable amount of Biotin?

Its less than 1mg but if that works for you, I would continue. I take between 5mgs and 6mgs (5000mcgs and 6000mcgs)a day. My hair and nails are growing like weeds...ok I'm exaggerating a bit...but I got a few pimples initially and then they cleared up...

I like Target's biotin because it has silica in it. I think I'm going to buy some and alternate taking it with PP.

I will have to try the Freeda brand of biotin as a last ditch effort because the pp biotin didnt really move me. i heard the freeda one was a bit more potent and i am hoping that will do the trick because it makes no sense that i took this pill for so long and yet i dont have any amazing results to report. God bless you all.

I'm upping my Biotin intake between 9 and 12mg and taking them 4 times throughout the day. I haven't taken mine in ages due to sheer laziness. I think I'm going to take it 3 weeks on and rest for 2 weeks and continue with that cycle. I also notice when I take a break from vitamin/mineral ingestion I get a growth surge when I'm off them, plus I don't want my body to get used to it constantly.

Hi all I noticed results with PP biotin after 3 weeks. I had a perm 5 weeks ago and woohoo I got nappy roots! I mean a lot of new growth is there now.

LondonDiva, I think your right Taking a break can only be good coz our body would definitely get used to it and it wont work as well so I'll copy from you and take a break after 3 months of consistently taking them. Three weeks ago is the first time I ever took a vitamin besides my multi.

Seamist...

My hair is growing faster than normal - but my personal "average" growth rate is quite slow - about a 1/4 inch a month - maybe a little less than that with no supps...

I get about 3/4 of an inch a month now. Others mught get an even faster rate than that, but my hair just naturally grows quite slow. I think it has to do with how slow my metabolism is. I think it takes a while for the nutrients to make their way around my system. I'm also a pretty heavy smoker and I recently read an article that says that smokers tend to have poor circulation leading to (among other things) slow growing hair and skin that heals slowly and looks dull.

hwell:

For these reasons, I'm not a great witness for 13mgs. biotin.

I just take a lot so I can at least be somewhere near where other folks are in terms of a growth rate.

you know what ladies, i researched ways to counteract the pimples and breakouts you get from biotin. try taking pantothenic acid (vitamin b-5) its water soubtle. on several websites it says that taken in certain dosages really helps skin and it may even clear up. there are no side effects so i may try that with taking my biotin. PP even sells it. they have the three for one special witht this too. this may be something to look into.

I take b-5 with mine but I think I'm doing it to make my hair thicker. LOL oh well, if a side effect of that is clear skin then it's all good.

Maybe this is why I haven't had any skin side effects...

I've taken B5 pretty regularly for years. 1000mgs. Considering upping that too because of Tara's results....

But I didn't even make that connection!

She cleared her skin up drastically from what I remember on 10,000 mgs. of B5 a day....

I think the thread is on the skincare board. If I can find it there I'll bump it.

What if your taking a cheaper brand of biotin like spring valley or sundown and youve increased to more the 5 mg but less then 12 mg, can you rush right in a take Freeda or pp biotin as soon as you buy it, and start with a 5mg-12mg daily dose, thanks you in advance
