Currently I have been using it once every 2 weeks but before I would go almost 2 months at a time without putting heat to my hair.

I rarely use heat lately.

Honestly about 2 years ago almost everyday which was awful. I cant believe I did that to my hair.

I then went to only using it once a week which was fine.
But right now the only heat I use is for deep conditioning. Im airdrying and staying away from the flat iron for awhile.

once a week. i went on a no-heat regime (mostly out of laziness) and lasted a month. the biggest thing to remember is to never flatiron or curl unfreshly washed hair.

ditto! I used to do that almost everyday back in the day . My hair got so dry and fried lookin.
It took hair boards like this one to get it back on track.

I used to be a daily flat iron user, weekly blow dryer. Now, I use my Flat iron about once every 3 months and my blow dryer - never. The only regular direct heat I get is for deep conditioning and roller sets. :yay:.

it depends. when my hair is braided up...not at all during that time. when it's down, it's difficult. If i have it professionally done, i can go once a week. When I do it...it's a mess (my new growth does not play & i might have to whip out my blow dryer again =/). my front pieces are completely fried because those are usually out when I have braids, plus I flat iron them everyday so they'll lay flat/smooth.

Well I wanted to give my hair a break from heat for nearly a month, but I see it's not healthy for my hair (breakage and shedding) so atleast once per week during my rollerset drying time.

For only the second time this year, I used heat last week because I wanted to check my progress. I will use direct heat again in 2 weeks for my birthday. My mother and I are both getting our hair done and we're going out. I wanted my hair to look good so I will get my first Dominican blow out, roots only. I will not use heat for the rest of the year after that. I'm due for a touch-up in mid-December. (I hope I can wait that long...:drunk:)

On average i use heat approx. once a month...but the thing that saves me from using it more is the braids and weaves

Not nearly as much as I used to. Before I found the hair boards, I was using direct heat darned near everyday. I was using curling irons and flat irons left and right. I've never been a fan of blowdrying, so I stayed away from it. I've always airdried my hair, execept in emergency rush situations. I was curling my hair at least every other day and flat ironing at least once a week. Occasionally, I'd take a hot comb to my roots to straighten them out as well, but I no longer own a hot comb anymore. I just can't get up the nerve to toss out the curling iron either. I still haven't gotten the rollersets down pat yet. Now I only use direct heat when I'm trying to be super cute (flat iron) or when I need to (curling iron for job interviews, presentations, etc.). Most of the time, I wear a bun or try to find some other protective style. I just started grad school and my classes are at night, so I really don't put too effort into styling my hair for class. Most of the time, I'll slap a baseball cap on in a minute and keep it moving:grin:

I couldn't vote because it's once every four months (3x a year). I get my touchups every 12wks and my stylist flatirons my hair afterwards. That is the only time direct heat is used.

I only use direct heat about once a month if you count blowdryers, but I'm only using the sit down dryer. If that's not counted then about every three months when I get a blowout for update pics.

I'm sporadic. Usually once a week (Thursday nights for the weekend ;) ) But sometimes I use it 2 times a week if I have a lot of get togethers. My hair is healthy, so I dont see a problem with 2x a week usage. I just voted 2 times a week since that will be the most I do sometimes.

I only use blowdryers for my deep condition treatments. I used to use flat irons almost daily before LHCF,as i have a short hair cut(which i am presently trying to grow out)and i felt that flat irons were the only way to keep my cut looking presentable.I didn't vote however, because i am currently in braids and i won't be able to answer this question truthfully until i take them down.

Once every 3-6 months. I don't blowdry/flat-iron at all in the summer so I stop in March and I resume flat-ironing/blowdrying in September (if that makes sense ).

I use a hooded dryer for rollersets on the low to cool setting and then I'll press my roots. This may happen twice a month depending on what's going on in my life and usually this is after a week of washing/co washing.

I have just started to use direct heat and I lose less hair blow drying/flat ironing and then adding rollers then I do wet setting and sitting under the dryer. Now I may be wrong and I am going to give this a month to see the difference but I think the damage comes from:

1. Using direct heat on hair everyday
2. On dirty hair
3. On hair not properly moisturize.

I have a co-worker who when I started here last September she has healthy hair but not I just look at her hair and shakes my head because she uses heat everyday because she says that she is too lazy to roll her her hair at night so in the morning she hot curls it. Now looking at her hair it looks dry and damage with no life.

So I think that it's not the applliance but the operator and if you learn how to do it properly you can still have healthy hair using heat.

I use my curlers to bump the ends when I'm going out of the house once a week tops but usually not even that often. I don't get out much (my choice).
