How many wore their TWA at this stage?

Hey naturals, I'm still wearing a scarf daily to cover my hair (my husband is still getting used to my hair being gone). How many wore their TWAs out at this stage? I guess I could if I really, really piled on the makeup...:ohwell:

ETA: I realize that the pics aren't showing up anymore through the links, for some reason, but for anyone else that would like to comment, the pics are in my fotki. thank you!

It look me a while to get comfortable enough to wear it out. And even still I rarely wear my TWA out. But I have to have a full face of makeup on if I do. I'm usually in weaves anyway. Sometimes I wear wigs or phony ponys.

Yeah, it sure does take some getting used to, doesn't it? You feel so...NAKED. Was yours this short when you BC'd?

Girl you could rock that now! That is nice. What are you scared of? You need to show that off! You don't look like you need a lot of makeup either. I thought I was going to have to do that when I cut my hair off. I actually look better with the whole natural look as far as my face. Too much makeup kills the look or it over takes away from my hair. I love makeup! I want to become a makeup artist some day if I stop having these kids!! LOL! Try just some foundation, press powder, mascara, lip gloss and keep going!

Your TWA is cute too! Don't leave me out here by myself!

well I transitioned using braids and my natural hair was about shoulder length when I started wearing out. I have a very funny shaped head in the back so I can't wear it extremely short. I looked through your album and I think the cropped twa is very flattering on you. If I could rock it and still look great I would. I say just go for it.

Uh! You are SO kind! I'm scared because my husband just...stares. I'll seriously think about it now, or maybe a baseball cap instead of a scarf? I'll skip the foundation and powder because I'll be a pizza if I do it but I'll definitely have the mascara pumping! Thank you.

Yeahhhh, I didn't plan on BC'ing when I did. :look: I'm a bit, um, scissor happy. I wish I did have shoulder-length hair but I just kept on cutting...and cutting. I'll have a take a deep breath and give it a go sometime soon, at least so my hair can get some air!

Hahahahahahaha! Come to my part of the world and we'll work it together. Just let me put on my heels first, girl! *walks away still laughing*

It was about 2 inches long but I went and got a weave the very next day. I had already had the weave appt and then decided to chop all my hair off the night before. That was at the end of September and I know I left that weave in for maybe 5 or 6 weeks. So I didn't wear it out until maybe November or so for the first time. Also I find that I don't even get a glance from men when I'm out with my TWA. :look:

ETA: Thanks shortdub78. Leshia I really like the TWA on you. Especially the color. You can wear it out sometimes if you're still not quite comfortable. And then gradually wear it out more often. I'm fine with mines now but it did take a while.

Hmm, well, I'm better off because I didn't get many glances from men until I cut my hair into a pixie cut. I've always been told I looked better with less hair, for some reason.

Gosh, I'm so curious now...

Maybe you do. Some people do. :) I looked good with short relaxed hair. Probably better than long hair. IDK why it's not the same with short natural hair. But it was too much maintenance for me. I got the most compliments with it like that or when my hair was completely pulled back off my face.

I still have a TWA but when it was an even shorter TWA, I did wear it. I thought it was stupid to put a headband around my head when it wasn't even a half inch long so I never did that. It wasn't until later that I started experimenting with scarves, wigs, half wigs, etc.

How long did you wear braids to get your hair to shoulder length?

I guess I'll REALLY find out when I finally venture out with no hair! Thank you for all your helpful comments! :D

Yeah, I'm not going to do any of that right now because I'm not a headband kind of person either. I do get a bazillion compliments when I wear a scarf though, so I'll do that, if I still can't sport the twa yet. I must have about 50 scarves now anyway!

Girllll.... I'm rocking a TWA and I'm in love wit it. I get so many compliments on it I'm actually stunned. Men are always checking me out too and commenting that they like my hair.

I concentrate on keeping it extra moisturized so it looks healthy and shiney. Keeping it really wet out of the shower I put on a leave in moisturizer then put aphogee mouse on. I'm not ultry light handed but I put the conditioner and mouse on carfully so as not to disturb the natural curl pattern to much.

I finger loosen and finger twist individual curls through out my head while its wet to give them as much definition and pop as possible so it isn't a helmet of friz but very difined curls. When it dries I run my palms over all the curls to get that slightly hard feeling out of the curls and pull the curls out where I want them to be. I think that's what makes my TWA rock. I need to take photos with my cell phone cuz I don't have any up. Will try to get some up in the next few days for you to see.

Also, buying really nice earings has helped dress up my TWA. I like long earings so that at least something long is hanging near my neck:lachen: :lachen: :lachen: I never go without earings. Then make my lashes pop and touch it all off with natural pink or red lip stain with gloss to bling out my pout!!! It seems to work together really well. I hope this helps.

I am wearing my TWA out right now and it's probably about that length, maybe a little longer. Anyway, I think it's more about confidence more than anything else. I know you are probably lacking it since your husband gives you those "looks". Trust me when I say that I know those looks. The thing is that I know I look good. I don't care what my FI says or how he looks at me. He just doesn't like natural hair unless it's hair that looks like 3-something hair. He'd prefer that I relax but he knows that's just not what I want to do right now.

You have such a beautiful face and your hair and its color is so hip. I bet people would think that you're some kind of model or something if they saw your hair like that. I'm sure it looks better than that darn scarf that you use to hide your hair! Go ahead and wear your hair proudly. Know that you look good when you walk out of the house and don't let anybody else convince you otherwise. Now's a good chance to really get to know your hair and let it come into its own. Wear it out so that you will be comfortable with it later on when it gets bigger.

Hm, that's some good info you put in this post. I don't have anything in my hair but a little leave-in but when I do put in some gel, I get some shine and curl definition but again, have never ventured out that way. I think it just takes some getting used to, especially since I'm used to having hair and though I get compliments with my scarf, I just don't want to seemingly alarm someone! I know that may sound strange, but it really just is so new to me...

Mines was not even an inch long...wore it. Took some getting used to though. I think you look hot with yours especially since it looks like you have some color in there :)

Oh, don't get me wrong. I happen to like my face, too! I've never ever had hair this short before and it's natural now, to boot, so I'm easing into this.

Yes, I STILL remember when you chopped yours! I'm nervous. Thank you for complimenting me and yes, I do have some color. I figure it's the least I can do for myself! *laughing* by the way, you need to put up some more pics of when you first cut it. I remember only seeing one or two. Help me out here, ladies! Post some TWAs that took cojones to wear!

I've been wearing my TWA since I did the chop in April. I don't really feel the "need" to wear make-up in order to make me look better since I'm wearing a TWA. TWA's aren't a bad thing. Since that's about the only style I can wear with the length that I have now; I accessorize it with headbands and scarves tied as headbands.

Yes, I agree, TWAs are not a BAD thing but when someone is feeling uncomfortable with their own TWA, they tend to want to put the focus somewhere else, hence, my desire to wear makeup to feel more feminine or something of the like. Yours looks good and thanks for the comment.

I'm not a natural, but your cut and you look good. If you are not into a lot of make up, focus on the eyes. Be sure to do a concealer. It's the one thing you should put on if you're running late and don't have time to do a full make up. Through on the bigger earrings and you're good to go!

Thank you! Gosh, people are saying concealer and foundation and what not -- do I need something on my skin and don't know it?! I don't usually wear those items because they break me out very bad. But gosh, do I NEED some? someone let me know...:ohwell:

Oh No! Don't take it the wrong way. Your skin is lovely. These things will put the focus on your face and not your hair. As far as concealer, I'm speaking of around the bottom of eyes. I know that a lot of women that don't wear foundation will wear a concealer.

I have been wearing my TWA since day 1 without a scarf or anything like that. I got my cut less than 3 months after my last relaxer and I rocked it from there. I had less than an inch of hair because my beautician cut out all of the scab hair. I loved it. I stopped to get my brows arched and that was that. No need for all of the makeup, even though I love it. The TWA stage was the most beautiful stage of my journey. It put my face and smile at center stage and I loved every minute of it.

Try it out.

I think she meant concealer to go with eye makeup. If you put concealer on your eyes first, it makes the makeup go on and stay on better. Without it, the makeup will crease and wear off during the day.
