----- TWA: BOOT CAMP Edition! ----

I am back at the TWA stage again. I learned on U tube how to stretch my wash n go for 5 days without needing to co wash daily. So far, so good.

hey everyone. i've been in braids, so not too much going on hairwise. i plan to keep these in the entire semester. it's been three weeks so far and i'm going to get my edges touched up soon to keep them "looking fresh." :yep:

thanks! The way I used to do my W&G was to cowash & then put in my products (a leave in & a gel to define)...but as you guys know, FRIZZ is the problem with that method...this technique eliminates almost all frizz!

One of the natural hair blogs I follow suggested the method as a tip:

  • In the shower, co-wash as usual. I actually had DC'd the night before, so I just rinsed it out.
  • Apply your leave in. I used HE LTR cuz I love the smell!!!
  • Apply your gel to define your curls. I'm a bad child, so i'm still using my curl activator with glycerin  lol...
  • Here's the difference: while still in the shower, turn the water a bit cold & do a light rinse. This will get out the excess product, seal the moisture in, AND GET RID OF THE FRIZZ!!! :yep:

Here's the blog post: The Ice Queen*Method

robot you will prolly like her blog bc she colors her hair also! i think at the moment she's pink!

I have heard of cold water rinses to help with frizz. I used to this is over the summer and it gives you crazy shine too!

I had a dream I was using curl activator gel (really globbing it on too  ). I think I'm gonna try some over the summer!

I think I saw a youtuber using it, that's why. Her hair came out beautifully too! I wish I could remember the video.

I'm having a problem keeping my hands out of my hair and over moisturizing. Bleh.

Also applying JBCO and jojoba oil to my edges daily. Praying they grow back in a tad fuller.

I think i'm in love! I ordered my Qhemet products and got THE most bangin twistout from using the heavy alma & olive cream & some ORS lock and twist gel! That's the perfect combination for me! The cream gives excellent moisture & the gel gives great definition without ANY type of hardness! End result: really defined, super moisturized (not greasy!), SOFT twistout! I think I have *gasp* found two staple products!

and i know I should have pictures, but i dont :ohwell:...I was feeling so flyy i just skipped right on out the door!

I also tried Shea moisture's deep treatment masque...supposedly it can be used as a leave in or a deep treatment..I tried it on a twistout w/o using the lock & twist gel and it was a MESSSSS!!! :nono: It was big and fluffy and frizzy with not much definition at all! So a few days later, I tried it as the name suggests -- as a deep treatment. And its awesome!! I can always tell that my hair is super moisturized well when my curls are popping somethin' fierce after a DC. This is the first Deep conditioner that I've had that I can REALLY notice the difference! :spinning:

@Robot, I wish I could find somebody around here to braid my hair! ugh! Because I have SERIOUS HIH syndrome!!

that's great! i ordered a few qhemet products, but haven't had enough time to fully test them out.

that's good that the cream gave you moisture. i was told that it's more of a sealant, since it is oil-based. when i used it, it did make my hair a little crunchy (although i was probably heavy handed as well).

i'm on week five of my braids and itching to see izzy again! i have about five more weeks to go before i think about taking them out... i really want to leave them in for a long time, but i can't walk around with raggedy braids. although my edges have been needing a touch up for a minute though.

as for my no buy, i've been looking at products online to try, but haven't felt the urge to buy anything. :yep: it's great! i have a whole stash at home, so i'm going to try and get out a few posts soon. there are some things in my stash i haven't even tried now! there are some things on my wishlist for sure, but i feel good when i wait to buy!

Hey ladies!!

lol i guess my hair just loves it bc i am FLYING thru this jar & probably using wayyy too much...but my hair just feels soft & moisturized...i'm thinking it also may be the combination of products. Even though the ORS product i use is called a "gel"...one of the first ingredients is coconut milk..can't remember off hand right now but there's a lot of other good ingredients too.

In other news I guess you could say that I'm on a personal no buy as well...I want to get rid of a lot of the stuff I bought when I first BC'd...I've done pretty good so far! The only thing I've bought is the Suave Almond & Shea Butter shampoo & conditioner...couldn't resist lol...they were on sale!

One thing I REALLY want to do is a protective style..I really want to give my hair a break and let it grow to its full potential...I gave it a try last night...I flat twisted the front of my hair (YAY ME!! never was able to do a decent flat twist) & individually two strand twisted the rest of my hair...It doesnt look as bad as I thought it would but I'm not sure if I'm ready to wear my twists out the house yet...They shrink up somethin seriousssss! This was a good attempt since I'm pretty style challenged, but I will probably just do a twist out from this in a few days.

Where yall at?!! This post has been dead!

Hey ladies!!! Checking in!!! Okay, here's what's what:

-I am on HYH 2011 and so far, I've had one slip up when I had to do a WNG between twists
-Oh I learned to do my own twists!!! Like kinky and Seneglaese twists with extension hair (here is the thread with pics)
-I am keeping these twists in for another 3 weeks, I just refreshed the front and edges today and I am deciding what to do when I take them out, to give my hair a break ladies who are braid-wearers, what do you do in between for a break? Do you wear the hair out or what? How long is your "break"??? I'm thinking I'll take a week or two off and wig it up then try my hand at crochet braids, I am practicing my cornrow technique whenever I get a chance
-My hair is about 2"-3.5" around now, how long can I claim TWA?!?!?!

How are you ladies?!?!?! Fine, I bet.

Hola Ladies! I think I may be joining you!!!! I am prolly going to re-BC this week. I have been cutting away at it slightly and it grows back just as fast, so I think I'm going to take the plunge and really chop it again this time. That way I will get this short doo out of my system and get what I believe to be damaged hair from dye perhaps off and stop this unnecessary shedding/breakage. Talk about kill two birds withone stone. Wondering if I should wait until the full moon, which is Friday. I'm getting anxious though!

WELCOME!!! This is really random, but do you make youtube videos?? I can't see your siggy that well, you kinda look like that girl in one of the videos i just watched last night!

Annoyed. I'm sick of rocking this 70ish Afro because I am unable to define my curls and tackle frizz no matter what I do.

Oh and my hair is growing stupid slow. It has barely grown since my Caesar cut 3 months ago. Arrrgh. I am thinking about hiding my hair until the Fall because I'm growing sick and frustrated with this TWA. Ugh.

@cartelise what products are you using? & don't feel alone...I feel like my hair is growing SO MUCH SLOWER than it should...:nono:

Anywho, I hadn't trimmed my hair since I chopped..but I am terrified of going to a salon to let someone else trim it & lose a big chunk of progress...Sooooo I trimmed it on my own! It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I straightened my hair afterwards to get an idea of my length. It is a lot longer than I thought it would be! Shrinkage is decieving!! Here's what's frustrating though: the front of my hair is so much shorter than the rest of it! I'm not really sure what to do about it...At the moment the plan is to let the back layers grow to SL and trim until the front catches up...Any suggestions? How do people grow out of the BC mullet???!! lol:ohwell:

It was a lot poofier than I liked but I felt like it was a decent first attempt at straightening natural hair!

Random: My whole life my hair has been SL or just barely past that...in one year of being natural I have grown & retained almost as much hair as that. Crazy!

@cartelise what products are you using? & don't feel alone...I feel like my hair is growing SO MUCH SLOWER than it should...:nono:

My staples are Giovanni Direct Leave-In, JBCO, coconut oil, hot six oil, Eco Styler gel and some avuryedic shampoo bar that I use like 1x month. My hair loves some Trader Joe's products but I use those sparingly. I have so many products but none have Wow'd me yet or made my curls pop. I also have the frizziest hair. I've been using SheaMoisture DTM as a DC and my hair HATES it. Makes my hair feel mad dry so may just give that away.
