How many here are married?Parents?

I was 25 when I got married and 26 when I had my first child. Yes I thought I'd never get married and then I met my husband. At the time of our meeting, we both hadn't dated in a year and really weren't looking to date. We were friends and our relationship built from there. We dated for 9 months, got married and 9 months later, our first child was born. We have never regretted our decision to marry so soon after we started dating. I think we dated for 4 or 5 months and then got engaged.

I think for me I had low self esteem and didn't think that anyone could love me and when my husband came along and showered me with praise, love and constant affection, I realized that just like every other woman out there, I too deserved to be happy in a marriage. I thank God everyday for sending me someone that loves me and is happy to be with me and we can raise our children in a loving, Christian home.

Side bar. To the ladies who are married, was there ever a point in your life when you didn't believe you would ever get married (whether it be from your independence, past issues, etc.). And what happened to make you realize you were "marriage material"?
