How Do You Want Your Hair to Look? (A Vision Board)

All these years I've been on my hair care journey and I still don't really know my hair type! I don't know if I'm 3b/3c or 3c/4a or 3b-4a...so it's kinda difficult to find inspiration...and even then, when I do find them, I don't know if it's a weave or a wig or not :look:

I'm starting to think I'm low porosity with coarse strands and low-medium density.

I can't wait for my nape to get longer so I can wear half up styles.

The girls hair is BEAUTIFUL ♡

I went to Whitney (the stylist that did her hair) once before the pandemic, right before I decided to get microlocs.

She was super sweet and truly cares about her clients.

OhMy.. I just went on her site to look up appointments bc I want to go to a salon for a professional for a trim late July.

No thanks on those prices. Absolutely not.

Are stylists really charging over $500 for normal hair appointments? I know prices have gone up but this is crazy.

Time to ask around for healthy hairstylist recommendations.

I hadn't thought about it outside of length goals, those pics were so inspiring, especially the curlies. I'm really wanting to wear my hair in its natural curly state. I'm excited to wear my hair in full wash and go, I'm even more excited to wear a long wash and go. I saw a post further up the thread saying would probably need floor length hair to get am APL wash and go, I feel that pain, the shrinkage is real.....

This is an excellent thread! Thanks for starting it, @SmilingElephant!

When BSL/MBL hair is fairly even and trimmed, it looks amazingly long to me in real life. It feels like a goal I can actually attain if I stop messing around. There are so many beautiful examples in the archive of this board. I grabbed a few pics from Google (I figure that if the pic comes up in a Google search, it's meant to be shared publicly) that I love.

MsKibibi, who used to be a member here-beautiful relaxed hair

HairWeGrow, an OG blogger and also a former member here--natural MBL hair that is silk pressed

The infamous (:look:) MoptopMaven, former member, with gorgeous blowdried natural hair around MBL

You're welcome :bighug:

I remember MsKiBibi and :look: MopTopMaven :look:

So, I just lost my job today for something that really was not my fault, highly unfair.

But I'm going to be focusing on my business all this week. I'm a Writer, Author, Editor, and a Publisher...I have a publishing company.

I kept feeling like something was going to happen and today was the day.

At least for now I have more time to do my cowashes, shampoo and deep conditioning and to love on myself, because I really been going through it. I didn't fit in at the job no way.

I hear what you're saying and I know what they say, but I'd love to know her routine to see if this is true. As in, her hair probably didn't just start showing signs of damage.

Let's say ,for giggles, that this is her first real/proper trim... does that mean that her hair could have been longer or thicker if she'd have been getting them all along or that maybe her hair doesn't need seo trims in this way, to thrive? (This thought ran through my hair before the stylist even put the conditioner on.)
Her hair was uneven but very healthy. Her ends weren't all split, dried out, and raggedy. They were literally ONLY uneven as the result of keeping her hair natural and not cleaning it up. What she achieved is impressive and what most people would not have been successful at without significant breakage, splits, and knots after going that long without trim. I think that video is an excellent example of how it can be done when done well. If she had continued wearing the hai natural, it would have been fine, but cleaning up the ends suited the straight style. It was good to see the example of raw ends on years worth of nurtured hair. Those examples are pretty rare. I can definitely tell her hair was very healthy, including those uneven ends. Great example!

Buggin'. That last time was at the salon over a decade ago; it was $75 for a press and trim with a tip on MBL hair. Now they charging rent lol and give no discounts for posting you up on their pages lol. I am too old school for that.

Sorry to hear about your losing your job, especially in an unfair circumstance. I'm glad you have other things going on. I'm a firm believer that most things happen for a reason, maybe this is a sign for you to pursue your business and grow it. I'm praying for better things to come your way and that your hair also gets all the benefits of those extra cowashes and wash days.
