Most of us here want really long hair...right? (I know some are here simply for healthier hair) :look:

I saw some older threads like this, so I wanted to make an updated one :yep:

How do you want your hair to look as your ultimate end goal?

Here are some pictures of how I want my hair to look. Post some pictures! Let's make this a vision Board to help motivate us and make our hair dreams come true! :fairy:

(I tried to get as close to what my hair type is as possible to keep it realistic)

I'm hoping to get my mojo back and then build on it.

I plan to rock long mini braids, no extensions, 95% of the time:

My long term goal: I'm hoping for WHIP or HL no extension mini braids but I can't find any real life pix.

And texlaxed texture similar to my hair idol Isis:

And rocking fluffy textured styles when loose:

Like this textured no heat rollerset

Or fluffy braidouts (RIP, beautiful)

And very seldomly bone straightened:

Her hair before the silk press! I want it!!!!

(The stylist cut a lot off, though)
This video is so relaxing to me. Her hair is gorgeous, and has been in nurturing hands. Her density alone is impressive. I’m a believer in the results of a good trim. If the hair ends are showing signs of damage (not necessarily unevenness), it’s best for manageability and retention, to let them go. She’ll probably see that length return in a relatively short time.

I hear what you're saying and I know what they say, but I'd love to know her routine to see if this is true. As in, her hair probably didn't just start showing signs of damage.

Let's say ,for giggles, that this is her first real/proper trim... does that mean that her hair could have been longer or thicker if she'd have been getting them all along or that maybe her hair doesn't need seo trims in this way, to thrive? (This thought ran through my hair before the stylist even put the conditioner on.)

I understand. I thought the same (re the bolded). As soon as I saw the clip, I was an initially disappointed when I read it was her first time as her client, because we can’t see her hair over time and have no further insight into her routine.

I think both of the points you raise can be true. It’s clear to me that her hair is well cared for, and she seems to have coarse strands with a lot of density. Those factors make me think her hair is likely more resistant to damage (also may take longer to become noticeable) or setbacks than someone with thinner strands, and less density.

I believe that her hair very well could have been even longer, and probably will be with consistent care after this trim. The nature of her strands mean that she may be able to go longer between trims, than someone with finer hair.

For sure. Whoever is taking care of her hair will hopefully continue to do so. Her hair wasn't cut so short that she won't be able to get back to that length. I just follow some long hair discussions elsewhere, with looser textured people, and when they get a trim like that they end up crying. Mainly because they never expected that much hair to be taken off.

Also, she has her age working for her at this point. I think that her hair will grow a lot faster now than if the same thing happened to her at 25 or even 35.

Her hair is soooo pretty....

It really is:drool:. I understand the shock and disappointment of having unexpected length taken. The patrons expectations and needs should be considered and discussed during the consultation, as well as the new length being agreed upon. Building trust. I have trust issues with stylists, and most of my experiences have been great, but I’m not willing to have just anyone’s hands in my hair, unless they exhibit that level of skill, discernment and care.
