Head coverings for winter (and indoors)

What does everyone wear if you want to hide your hair in winter?

In summer I wear bandanas but I think they just look a bit 'out of season' in winter.

I have some wooly hats but it looks a bit odd to wear these indoors.

I ask because I want to fade out some dye and it'll take a few weeks of my hair looking a mess. (So far I have just caved in an re-dyed it but want to go for a different colour now)
