u know what i totally agree with what u r saying not knocking anyone but me personally i want to give up braids for good (maybe put a few extensions here n there for special occasions) cause for the past 4 yrs ive been addicted n didnt believe i looked nice with just my hair but today i walked out into town with my real hair n 16 weeks worth of growth (just removed my braids) n i felt i looked good n nothing had changed societal wise sorry for hijacking for a minute

The bolded part is exactly why I NEVER wore extensions during my natural journey. Before that, I wore braids for 4 years as a way of not dealing with my hair. Even now, when I recently put in those extensions to the ends of my natural box braids to make them longer, I only kept them in for 9 days. I just couldn't do it. I don't need to hide my hair, and I know without a doubt that it WILL grow without extensions!

BTW, I'm not knocking anyone who does wear extensions. I understand the ease of styling and protection that comes from wearing them, but for me, I was wearing them for all the wrong reasons!

I'd like to be an inspiration for other black women (including women in my family) and debunk some myths in the process:yep::yep::yep:. I  natural hair!!!
