hair length

[ QUOTE ]
... i look at white people hair and its obvious they have to manage their hair less...

Not always. Check out this site . They complain about a lot of the same things as us. Breakage may not be an issue or most whites, but they have other issues that discourage them.

Invest in a satin pillowcase if you are too embarrassed to wear a drawstring (not elastic) bonnet.

Run, don't walk and get something to massage into your trouble spots. It's not going to get any better until you take action. My hairline was getting sparse because I wear my hair pulled back all the time. What worked for me was Carolyn Gray's HHIB Oil. The Profectiv hairline cream, Jamaican black castor oil and the Rosemary Hair Oil at www.fromnaturewithlove.com are good, but the HHIB seemed to work faster.

Plain old castor oil from the laxative section of the drugstore might work the same, but I've never tried it. It's a lot cheaper than the Jamaican and Caribbean castor oils...

I agree with DSD.

Practice good health - physical, spiritual, mental/emotional - as well as good hair care practices, and the length will follow.

Unless one has serious health issues, is taking medications, etc., then your hair *will* grow.

Speaking re:Caucasian hair: it does not surprise me that European Americans are experiencing hair problems of varying types.

Consider the level of abuse to their hair: coloring, perming, blow-drying, razor cutting, hot curling, no protection in chlorinated swimming pools, not caring for the ends, harsh brushing and combing, or lack thereof in some cases, over-use of alcohol-based hair care products, like gels, spritzes, hair sprays.

I go to my local day spa for regular manicures, and I observe the level of abuse to European Americans subject their hair.

And when was the last time *you* read/heard of a White person wrapping her hair in a silk scarf at bedtime, or doing a deep conditioning treatment with a heat cap for 30 minutes?

Perhaps they should.

Ladies, we have a good thing going here at the LHCF!

Mine grew back completely and brought some friends.

My hairline looks "lower" if that makes any sense. I don't want to start looking like the Wolfman...

DeJuan, I'm not sure what else anyone can say here...no one can look into the future and see what will happen for you. However, there are a lot of things you CAN do to help remedy your situation, and wait and see. Patience and consistency; if you don't exercise those, your fears might be realized. I'm not trying to come across as rude, I just wish you'd give yourself a chance with your new methods...

yes i know kaela im just kinda upset because its been 3 and half years of trying things from doo gro mega thick temples, profectiv, and organic root stimulater. and all that did was give me seborrhea now i cant get rid of my dandruff lol. im sorry you guys i do really appreciate what your telling me and stuff. It's just that im starting to kinda give up because i been just leaving my hair alone taking vitamins and stuff like that avoiding harsh products. I cant really use oils because they make my dandruff worst.

Dejuan, perhaps there is something in my brother's hair care routine that you might consider:

My brother has a mild dandruff problem, but he uses Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo, and that seems to correct the condition. However, this shampoo leaves the hair rather dry, so he follows with a good moisturizing conditioner, which is Aveda Deep Penetrating Conditioner. Then, he applies Ultra Sheen Extra Dry Hair and Scalp Conditioner and Hairdress to the scalp( yes, UI know; it contains all the things we here at the LHCF try to avoid, but it works for my brother) and TCB Naturals to the hair, for shine. Finally, he uses a warm blow dryer with a comb attachment to shape and lift the hair a bit, and then finishes with an oil sheen spray.

My brother, by the way, is a 4A.

I cant use oil. infact oil sheen caused my seborrhea dandruff. it can be caused by an over oily scalp. I used too much oil sheen one day and i noticed i had flakes all over next thing i know i couldnt get rid of it and it got worst and worst but i will try the paul mitchell tea tree that you have recommended. Also how long could he wait before his next shampoo with out his dandruff returning? Because if i plan on wearing braids i hope to have them in for atleast a week

I know you said you can't use oil but have you tried sulfur 8? It's a grease and it stopped my dandruff which was horrendous. Let me tell you, I would wash my hair one day and I would have dandruff THE SAME DAY. By day two it was uncontrollable. I used to scratch it out to keep my hair looking decent (when I pressed my hair I only washed it once a week). Now I wash at least twice a week and put sulfur 8 on it and for the first time in my life I can say I don't have dandruff.

If you have tried it sorry it didn't work for you. If not, DON'T KNOCK IT UNTIL YOU TRY IT!!!!
