Yeah it's me. /images/graemlins/drunk.gif
Okay, so two weeks ago I got the urge to relax again. What spurred me on was the post about "Hair Personality". I start thinking did my sometimes TWA and twists truly reflect the "personality" I feel like I project???? Then when I was reading another thread about "Negative Natural Experiences", I was hearing other naturals say things that I hadn't thought about, i.e. protective natural styles that look "immature" (braids, twists, etc.). Then I start thinking about my own hair and how I love my twists, but sometimes loathe doing them. The fact that if I want to wear my hair straight I have to worry about heat damage, etc. Then I said okay Kenesha, what are you going to do!
So, I thought it over and decided I wanted to relax. I contacted Denali for some info. and she wouldn't give me any until I thought about it for 24 more hours, she wanted me to be sure. (such a great friend /images/graemlins/kiss.gif) Well, after 24 hours, my mind hadn't changed so she gave me the info. I requested.
Well, since I had been contemplating the move back to relaxing I was already "prepping" my hair for the move. 3 days before I wanted to relax, I clarified my hair, deep conditioned with Aubrey's GPB, and used a moisturizing conditioner. I then twisted my hair with aloe vera gel (since it's very soluable) in a VERY haphazard manner, so that my hair would be easier to navigate for the stylist applying the relaxer.
Okay, then it's relaxer day. I went to a dominican salon and had the best relaxer experience of my life. The lady actually rinsed and neutralized the back of my hair where she applied the relaxer while she relaxed the front. (The back has a tighter coil pattern than the front/middle/sides) I then got my hair trimmed (about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch) and rollerset, then blown into a layered flip style. I have taken pictures, I just need to finish the role. /images/graemlins/weird.gif
I just wanted to thank LHCF for being the type of place where I know I will be supported if I relax, texturize, braid, twist or dread my hair! /images/graemlins/kiss.gif
