Right, I understand what you're saying. What I'm saying, if I didn't make it clear, is that I will not allow for there to be this constant back and forth with people bombarding her with posts about what she said. Per forum rules, it's not allowed, and I'm not going to just sit back and let people go at it with her. That's where I'm coming from. Now folks may not like it, but that's it, in a nutshell.

Poohbear-
I understand what you're saying about the dry hair. However, please also take into account that some people's hair only LOOKS dry but really isn't. Just some like some folks who's hair is relaxed. It really does go both ways in a sense.

Also, some folks are still learning what WORKS for their natural hair. You can't necessarily use the same products on relaxed hair that you use on natural hair...it doesn't work well at all. Just like most of life, learning what works for your hair is trial and error as well.

Just something for you to consider...

Anyway so that I'm back on Topic. I think one thing is true about going natural is Personal Journey. We can't look at others success or failures or Pictures to be inspired or uninspired. I think unless one is really ready to deal with the worst possible scenario and be happy with whatever so they wont be disappointed they should wait.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wasnt looking at pics or albums for inspiration... but I have been inspired by some albums and even pics of like Aaliyah, Jada Pinkett, Rachel True, etc.

...and to those that are picky about post, nothing is wrong with using those bold codes!

Its okay Irresist, Im sure Pebbles hair is nice, but if I see dry nappy hair that aint done--and Im sure yall know what Im talking about--that person could moisturize it and get it done into a style. For example, if someone did the big chop and has dry hair, they can at least fix it up into a nice even afro or something...not something going everywhere and every which way.

I do think talking about skin coor would generate worse responses because u cant help what skin color you are... unless u do a Michael Jackson!

I hope this doesn't offend anyone...

I've been looking at some of the natural hair albums and have been discouraged by what I see (especially the ones that have done the big chop). Some of the pictures of short natural hair are scaring me!
covereyes.gif
I think in my head, "I dont want my hair to look like that!"
nono.gif
I don't know whether to go natural now just because of some of the pictures or just extend my relaxer for a long period of time.

But I really dont want to go back to relaxing though because I dont want to be doing that for the rest of my life.
ohwell.gif
Should I texturize or just extend my relaxer for a long time? I've seen some encouraging naturals (like hairlove, silvergirl, and other ones with shoulder length or longer natural hair)...maybe I should stop looking at the albums and do what works best for me...
computer.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

Poohbear I have been natural the majority and I know where you are coming from after looking at photo albums. I also get scared from some of the albums showing short natural hair. I say to myself that I would never get caught dead outside with hair looking like that.

After deciding to stop texturizing my hair to go back natural I started to look at a lot of natural albums. It was discouraging. Most of the albums had pictures of short hair. And I could not find pictures of people with longer hair. When I saw albums of long hair, the owners of some of these albums were claiming to have 4a/b hair and I was hell no. If they had 4 a/b hair, my hair was 10zzz. My hair does not wave and curl like that. I am still waiting to see an album with hair like mine with my length.

I just stopped looking at albums since everyone's texture is different. Just do you thing, stop looking at albums and take care of your hair. Believe me in time your hair will surprise you. Mine did even though I was natural most of my life. Ignore people who say you should relax your hair or people who ask sarcastically if you are growing locs. Do what you feel is right in your heart and don't compare your hair to others.

Okay Poohbear you need to understand that after a BC people experience MAJOR dryness regardless of what they put in their hair. Trust. Miss K, myself, Brittanynic, etc. Has experienced this. I remember deep conditioning my hair and then after I rinsed and applied oil my hair looked and felt like i didnt do a thing to it (crunchy and hard ends). And then theres not much you can do with one inch of hair as soon as you chop it off. It doesnt behave like you would like it to sometimes. It took about a month and a half for my hair to look and feel somewhat better. I also had to cut almost two inches of hair since November eventhough I didnt want to

See you guys, there are some people that have felt the same way as me three days ago. I also forgot to mention that I even got PMs from some members about how they also did not like some of the big chop natural hair albums. Sorry, thats just life. You like things and u dont like things. Some express what they like and some express what they DONT like (like I did three days ago). Im just gonna do what sbg4evr said and do my own thing without worrying about anyone elses' hair.

And for the record, you don't owe anyone any explanations about your likes and dislikes. You are not obligated to feel a certain way just because others feel you should, so like what you like, and dislike what you don't like to your hearts content.

guess that rule doesnt apply to all huh?

and for the record..even though the horse has been beaten to death (i came in for a final kick since i have been working all day) i was not using what you said previously in other posts "against" you. all i can do is determine the feel for a person by their general tone through out the board..just as everyone else does because most of us do not know each other personally. if i just said..XYZ..then it would more than likely have been said.."when" "where"..etc. so i used 1 comment that has been made by you to back up my stance. nothing more. i didnt do a search..go back thread after thread..looking for things to quote..

to rowanda(?) i wasn't "assualted" by what she said nor took it personally...and i am aware that she didnt name anyone. (she may have looked at my album and i sent her links to several albums to check out) the general tone was negative in which it has been established that she has a RIGHT to feel that way. then i also have a RIGHT to feel offended/slighted...etc..whatever word anyone chooses to use here and also comment on it for it was brought to an open forum. she wanted to vent..we can vent..she can ask questions..we can ask questions..we can express disdain..she can do it also.

this isnt a case of ..lets beat someone down today over their logic/decisions..etc i just raised questions and wanted to express my views just as she did...or anyone else. that is all...its about open dialogue..and not playing the role of bully vs the victim

i am still cool with poohbear. this isnt a competition here trying to win people over to nappydom. as i stated the other day..i love my sistas and if my sistas wanna be nappy/relax/texturize/color their hair to no end..and are HAPPY?! i am happy!

BTW..what happened to the thread that was started yesterday about the Natural hair health and beauty show here in atlanta in June? from what i understand..it was not geared towards naturals only..but also emphasized the Health and Beauty aspect that all women would be able to enjoy
