Flowers

About how much of your wedding budget went towards flowers? I'm seeing quotes for my area of 7K+ for bouquets, centerpieces and set up. Um...pause, lol.

Did you ante up for flowers or did you go the DIY route?

I went the DIY route.

Spent around $500 total on flowers. We ordered from SAMS club online. Pink and white roses, and pink tulips and baby's breath. My bridesmaids and I did the bouquets, corsages, pins, and centerpieces. The flowers were beautiful and we saved sooooo much money.

Mine were $1,500. Bride bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, a flower girl basket, 2 corsages, 8 boutonnieres, 16 centerpieces, setup of the pieces and some table decor (candles). This was in S. Fl.

I would say to check out local and smaller flower shops, chances are they've already worked events. I found that florists who only work weddings/events are going to overcharge. I went with a local flower shop and they went beyond and over. She had done plenty of events before but I liked that this isn't what she primarily did.

Nice! Did you guys do them the night before or a few days before @CoilyFields?

@Menina Preta

The flowers arrived on a Wednesday and we put them together that Thursday. They kept in the fridge until the wedding on Saturday. (They had opened very nicely in the meantime).

I got most of the supplies at hobby lobby. The green tape and white pearl stick pins etc. The pic below is of my bridal party helping put things together.

My flowers were $1500. That included 3 bouquets, 4 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, flower petals for the flower girl baskets, aisle art, flowers for the trellis, 10 centerpieces and, and an arrangement for the escort card table. That price included delivery as well.

The florist that I used was the most reasonable in the area and the flowers were beautiful. I intend to use her for all of my events going forward. The person that I originally wanted quoted me 11 THOUSAND dollars. :ill:

Premium flowers are very, very expensive.

I bought silk flowers: my bouquet, MOH and four BM bouquets, five boutonnieres and a toss bouquet. Spent less than $200.

Wow, that's an amazing price! If I can find that in my area, then I'm all on it. If not, I will be ordering some wholesale flowers and will be arranging them 1-2 days before the wedding :look:.

I've also heard about Whole Foods doing flowers as well for a good price. Anyone heard about that?

My flowers were $1800. This included delivery and set up of: 6 bouquets, 8 boutonnières, 3 corsages, arrangement for staircase, 9 centerpieces, rose petals for the cake table, flower girl basket and aisle. I had bouquets and centerpieces of: calla Lillie's, roses, hydrangea, and baby's breath.

I found my florist on Craigslist, had a consultation with her where I viewed some of her past work and she also gave me references to call.

Not that I'm getting married anytime soon but DANG, this thread sure is informative. People wanting $7-11k for flowers?! Nah, bro.

i liked high quality silks as an option. and i don't mean the silks you find at hobby lobby or michael's. these look and even feel real. they're called "real touch" flowers. i think they're actually made out of a latex material that feel and look like petals. my mom was concerned that i didn't get natural flowers and was relieved when she saw my bouquet. she was in disbelief that they weren't real.

they are not cheap relative to silks but they aren't thousands. i was able to customize color and flower types ( i had roses and calla lillies). they take about a 6-8 week lead time because the owner arranges them by hand and adds details to fit your request.

i spent $400 for myself ( i got a pretty large bouquet) and 6 bridesmaids.

eta: if you search you may be able to pay a similar price for real flowers. i wanted to keep my bouquet forever so i was pretty set on the artificial route.

Right! I said DANG too when I saw the price points being quoted. I always heard that flowers were expensive but I had no idea that standard pricing for a standard wedding bouquet was $250 - 400 bucks!!!

Nice site! How has your bouquet held up?

This is what I'm doing too. My bouquet along with two bouts came to be about 250 bucks though. Mine is about 12 inches and is custom-made. And like you, I want to be able to keep my bouquet as well.

I found this vendor on etsy http://morgannhilldesigns.com/silk-bouquet-portfolio/

I'm doing everything myself!

People think I'm crazy but I just refuse to pay thousands for flowers! Plus we just bought a house, so all the money I save is going into my decorating/furniture fund which we will enjoy daily for the next 30 years!

I wanted to do real touch the silk flowers but my mom is so particular and is set on real flowers. I thought the quote I was given was a lot but I guess it isn't since I am seeing numbers around that price. I was quoted $1,649 to include 6 bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, 3 corsages, flower petals for the flower girl basket, aisle decor,10 centerpieces and something else I can't remember right now, along with delivery.

That's a good price for all that you're getting. How large are your centerpieces?

Ya, I thought about silk flowers for a sec, but my mom said nope to that.

@Menina Preta, I don't know. I am still tryna figure that out. I freaked out at the price so I haven't contacted that florist back yet. :giggle: I had sent her pictures of my ideas so it is a plethora of things.

Flower bump.

Saw florists like a week or so ago. For bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaid bouquets, 6 boutennierres, two mother's corsages, two father's corsage's, 15 centerpieces (high and low heights), 2 baskets for the church altar and flower girl basket, was quoted 2,500 at one place and 3000 at another. The 2,500 place said they are open to bargaining.

I don't know much about individual flower costs. Right now, I'm liking hydrangeas, roses, and stock for color. Any other big bloom flowers that are reasonably priced and in season in late summer, early fall (aside from carnations)?

Thanks for posting this! Her work is beautiful! I will probably end up going this route. We are having a destination wedding and I can't imagine spending all this money on flowers for them to go in the trash at the end of the night.

What was the height of your centerpieces? Were they all high or all low? I was set on a mix of high and low, but I really like the intimate feel of low centerpieces...and maybe do a grouped set of vases?

Thanks girl! I did find a florist actually in the Bronx. For about 2500, I'm getting bridal bouquet, bouquets and boutennieres for wedding party, flowers for moms and dads, flower girl basket, two church baskets, 7 high centerpieces and 8 low centerpieces and a centerpiece for the sweetheart table. That includes set up and delivery fee as well. I was happy with the price after I saw other brides quoting upwards of 4-6K in this area.

So I've been comparing florists. I spoke with a florist at whole foods and she seemed to be one of the most reasonable. Another florist told me I wouldn't be able to get a centerpiece for less than $55 but whole foods gave me a better price. So check them out if you're on a budget and don't really want to DIY.

I checked out the florist that was recommended by the vendor and their prices were crazy.
