First Caruso Set 4/B Hair **Tons of Pics**

GabbanaGirl
i tried this yesterday and it didnt work for me i ended up with big poofy kinky diana ross hair...it didnt stay smooth like yours did, the steam reverted my hair and poof.....which product do you think kept yours from reverting?

FIRST. SORRY THE PICS ARE SO FRIGGIN HUGE. :ohwell:

Ok, so this weekend I decided to do something different to my hair. I wanted something big and semi-curly..similar to Tracy Ellis Ross's hair on Girlfriends (when she wears it heat-straightened and curled) - So I went to Sally's and picked up some Carusso Curls ($42.99) And tried my hand at it...I would definitely use it again.

I followed my normal hair regimen which can be found here

I blowdryed my hair about 80% dry w/o a comb.

Then I pressed my hair - A little lighter than usual because I was going for fullness vs straightness.

After pressing my hair, I did about 4-6 bantu knots because I wanted my hair to be full, with a natural curl prior to setting it on the caruso curlers.

I tied my hair up with a scarf, and went to bed.

This is what it looked like in the morning:

Then I rolled my hair (no rhyme or reason) with the Caruso Rollers, I used the Small (in the front) Medium (on the sides and crown), and Large (in the back). I left the Caruso curlers steam for about 8 seconds max, I attempted to use end papers, (only had the patience to do one) and I did not use end papers on the rest, the piece that had the end paper on it came out no different than the rest of the hair. I also did not add any products to my hair prior to rolling.

This was the placement of the rollers:

I let the rollers stay in my hair for about 45 minutes to an hour, this is what it looked like after removing the rollers:

So yeah...not fabo right? LOL So I turned my head upside down, ran through my head vigorously with my hands, and finger styled while my head was upside down. This is what came out of it:

Sorry I didn't take better pics prior to leaving the house....Here are some pics towards the end of the day: (as you can see, the curls fell some)

I would definitely say this product is a must-have! Sorry product junkies!!!

I love your Caruso curls! I have recently went back to these. Actually I bought some new large rollers last night at Sally's. My curls look like yours. The only thing is that our humidity is not quite gone yet so they are only pretty for a little while. But in a couple weeks I will be good to go. I was surprised how well they did on my flat ironed hair. I had to throw our some of my old ones (rollers). I have the old Caruso steamer as a backup and the new one. The older for those who remember was the pink one that used salt. They came out in the late 80's early 90's. I was actually thinking about the first infomercial that came out. I tried last week the set the girl did in the infomercial when she first twisted the hair and then wrapped around the roller. It comes out like a twist like coil. If that makes since. Does anyone remember that?

I also notice you do what I do at times and that is put the medium size in the front and the larger ones in the back. For a smoother appeal, I put the larger ones in the front. Do you use wrapping papers at the end. I find it gives me a smoother curl. Are you still using the products that you listed? Mine are fairly simple. I trade out occassionally. I think my next new product will be the Sabino Moisture Block, well at least for next summer. Again, your hair is just so pretty and you are too.

Gabbana girl great hair and style. You have features of someone from Rwanda or Burundi. Thank you for being gracious to share your regiment.

Best,
Almond Eyes

Girl, your hair looked sooo purdy!!! I love it! This is definitely a style i'll be rocking once i'm out of braids...it looked very retro!

i love the way your hair looks even after the bantu knots.
im def checkin gout your reggie, im currently relaxed but idk if i should go natural but u are def pushing me in that direction.
thank you sooo much for sharing, truly insprirational!!!

See....your hair came out so gorgeous you have me wanting to go run to Sally's. But, I'm really trying not to apply any heat for a year. Which would be April next year. Going to subscribe so I don't forget!! Great job!

Oh, I forgot. You could have rocked the bantu knot outs too. I hope you don't mind me stealing your styles next year!

Thank you :yep: I actually think I am going to buy an extra pack of the medium ones, so that I can use them in the front :yep:. I think I would like it better than using the small ones.

I tried to use end papers, (took 2-3 minutes to get ONE on...so I said forget it), I may revisit it next time when I have more time to learn. I am definitely still using the products on my fotki, I like them because they give me consistent results. I have heard so much about Sabino Moisture Block, I want to check that out!

Thank you so much! Please post pics when you do the Caruso Set, I love looking at pics :yep:. Bantu Knot outs are a good way to get the curl/volume without the heat!

Dang! I'm gonna have to dust my Carusos off. Your hair looks great! It looked amazing before you added the Carusos too. I wish my hair had that much thickness/body.

I just died... Your hair is goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorgeous! You are the new goddess of my hair universe!

Oh my god. Just speechless. Funny thing is that I'm sitting here with some Carusos in my hair right now, lol, and I just happened to stumble upon this thread.
