First Caruso Set 4/B Hair **Tons of Pics**

Your hair turned out amazing. I LOVE Bantu knot outs, the look is so feminine and sexy. I'm starting to like them more than the roller sets :look:

Your hair is beyond gorgeous! I mean it came out looking nice the next morning but WOW, I love the fullness of it and the curls looked great! Nice job!.

SORRY THE PICS ARE SO FRIGGIN HUGE. :ohwell:

Ok, so this weekend I decided to do something different to my hair. I wanted something big and semi-curly..similar to Tracy Ellis Ross's hair on Girlfriends (when she wears it heat-straightened and curled) - So I went to Sally's and picked up some Carusso Curls ($42.99) And tried my hand at it...I would definitely use it again.

I followed my normal hair regimen which can be found here

I blowdryed my hair about 80% dry w/o a comb.

I know I've already said this, but seriously, your hair is GORGEOUS. Quick question... how did you blowdry your hair w/o a comb and get such a smooth result? Did you use a variation of Pinkskate's tension method? TIA! ;)

Ok, first you are gorgeous and I love the hair!

Second, I really love my Caruso. It has been a minute since I used it though as I have been experimenting with pin curls, after a flat iron.

I remember that the Caruso always made my hair really soft.

You have inspired me to go back to using it more often!

Thank you very much. That is exactly what I did. Although I use the warm setting, and not the hot setting. I hold each section really taught as I move the blowdryer in a downward facing motion. When I am about 80% dry, I twist the section, and pin it up. Then when I am done with my whole head, I just untwist, fluff it out, and finger comb through it. I think the smoothness of it is from Pinkskates method....because if I airdry, I have one big glob of kinky kink kink.

Absolutely FABULOUS! You are working some serious bling!

I think the key to the bling is making sure you have just enough product, and nothing more. Sometimes I don't wash my condish out well enough, and as a result my hair looks stiff, dull, and dry after my press. Similar to the preacher in Coming to America. LOL

Chi Silk Infusion...and Frederick Fekkai Glossing Cream are definitely shine enhancers too.

You and your hair are so cute!!!! Why didn't you use the end papers? Wss it just an extra step you couldn't be bothered with? Now I got to get carusos and curlformers :tantrum:

Thank you!! I bought end papers, and could not figure out for the life of me how to use them....I was fiddling with them while the roller was steaming, so I did one (barely), and said forget it. I haven't got the technique down enough for that...LOL Maybe I may try next time. :yep:

OK this thread needed a hair porn alert I am literally drooling LOL your hair is gorgeous, is the colour natural or did you indigo? Im speechless but I could pay you compliments on that hair all day long :D

Thank you :D Nooo way is the color natural...lol My hair is a dirty brown color. I use Indigo about once every 6-8 weeks, I sit under a steamer with it on for the first hour. Then I sleep in it overnight, to get the deep dark black color.

Prior to discovering Indigo, I would use any semi-permanent hair color, like jazzing, adore, or something like that.

wow, your hair looks amazing. Even the bantu knot set looked wearable to me. You are too cute, and I loved the dress

This is good. I really like your big bantu knot out. That is becoming my staple style right after flat ironing. Nice to see how it will probably look once i'm a bit longer. Do you ever wear it out like that? In your fotki you appear to have a loose 3c type texture based on the texture shots. Has the heat loosened your texture or do you have hv a very big curl for a 4b?? I'm just wondering b/c I am embarking on a similar regimen- with flat ironing once a month, then one week of twists, one week twistouts, then one week free style!

Yes, Yes, Yes, it has definitely loosened my hair texture, along with the henna/indigo treatments. I also use a product on my hair which has a lot of lactic acid (Fermodyl 619) in it, that also helps relax my hair texture a bit. There are large sections though, that just refuse to cooperate no matter what I put in it(frizz/no curl pattern) which is why I could never wear a wash and go...not even if my life depended on it. :lachen:

Cool! Thanks for the prompt response! I look forward to my texture loosening some. Your results are good and healthy. Henna/fermodyl? I'll have to do some research. You have got to have some of the shiniest hair ever; plus it looks like full of moisture. That kinda puts you in a different or new category for a moist/shiny type 4, maybe 4ms.

Of course I have to agree with everyone when I say your hair came out so beautiful. WOW!!!!

Also, I noticed in two of the pics there was some white paper in one of the curls, is that like the only one that you had to use and end paper on? Just curious, because I'm definitely picking up some caruso rollers, but I just want to make sure I know all the steps!! And if so, why that one roller?

Thank you! I bought end papers, and wanted to use them, but after trying it with one piece of hair (the piece you saw). It was too difficult, and I didn't even use them after that. The piece that had the end paper on the end came out no different than the rest...HTH!
