Grow their hair out fast, longer, and a bit healthier. Have you noticed, the ones who core a close crop or ceaser cuts, grow it out to bigger fro's or pretty cornrows? What are they doing so well?

When my husband grew his hair out (before he cut it), he would put shea butter in it. But nothing special. Anyone have experienced men who have grown their hair out with no problems, and relatively quickly?

It's testosterone. It makes hair grow faster. Personally, I like my womanly shape, voice, and lack of facial hair way more than I would want their speed of hair-growing. That's one growth aid I definitively draw the line at.

When it's time for the braids to come down, they get them redone within a day or two. Hair grows, we all know that. True that! Men almost redefine protective styles - esp. once they grow hair of any length. It's almost always braided up - the big blown out fro is a rare/special occasion/in between braid sessions look.

They are C&G'ing it, basically.

DH washes his hair every time he takes a shower - so at least daily, sometimes more.

that's why i believe in the K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Super Simple). most guys i know, regardless of hair type or growth rate, are very simplistic towards their hair care. i truly believe that's one big reason they retain so much of their length.

Yep. Two of my brothers and gone past me in growth by keeping their hair rowed up and doing nothing.

I want to do this, but they've taken all the pretty styles and now I feel like a boy in most of them!

I just did some cornrows for him, but after I washed his hair, I blow dried it and I swear his hair is just like my Malibu Barbie I had when I was 8. It felt and looked synthetic. I asked him if he could be my life-size Barbie, but for some reason he said no

His hair is unreal. He gets these thick, wiry corkscrew ring curls when his hair is wet, and he does nothing to it; whereas I use so much and I'm getting split ends erplexed

Same here, DH washes it everyday. He gets a hair cut, and in two weeks or so, he already achives more NG than me.

Maybe men just like little girls are able to retain length better because it's more acceptable for them to keep their hair in braids all the time...whereas us women are always expected to "Do" something with our hair.

Kelly has had those same sickly braids forever, Ben Wallace is another man whose hair doesn't seem to grow. I could name some others. I remember when my BD tried to grow his hair out. I finally told him his hair has been the same length for 2 years and it looked like the front was running to meet the back (receding) -let it go.

Remember though, Ben Wallace wears a blow-out fro for all his home games. Kat Williams stays pressing his hair. And R. Kelly keeps his braids for but a minute. I don't think these guys are good examples. It's not just about keeping the hair in its natural state.

Think way, way back to '92. Snoop Dogg had a fade in the "Nothin' But a G Thang" video. In '94 when Doggystyle came out he had the chick on the stoop braiding a BAA. Snoop kept his hair underwraps for a minute before he started experimenting with straight styles, Shirley Temple Curls , etc.

When I think of the boys I went to school with, the ones who grew their hair the longest were the ones who left it the heck alone consistently for a LONG time.
