Hey everyone,

When we last left our heroine she was on her way off from work to the Beauty Supply Store in a quest for plastic gloves and a relaxer brush. But, alas our fair beauty is a dimbulb and had no cash on her and left her ATM card in her pocket of her other jacket. But this would not and could not deter Ms. Kenesha! She goes home and decides to use a wide tooth comb as the applicator and the too large for anyone's hands plastic gloves that they put in all relaxer kits.

So, she's home, she mixes the relaxer according to the directions. Sections her hair and begins the process. What does she learn, next time HAVE THE APPLICATOR BRUSH, the comb makes it easier to overlap. Also, the clown gloves will not work, so she risks life and limb and uses her bare hands when it comes to the smoothing section. She smoothes with the back of the comb using her smalltooth comb sectioning end to section and then smooth. She's a little awkward in her movements, but no matter. Oh, one more thing, she does the front last and this leads to a lil bit more of an underprocessed look there.

Okay, time to rinse, she rinses all traces of the relaxer. Uses the neutralizing shampoo and gets it white on the 4th try which is good I hear because a lot of people never get it white. She uses the milky reconstructor, puts on a cap and leaves it on for approx. 15 minutes. Rinses that out, then puts in her favorite Tropical Milk Protein, let's that sit, through the Apprentice. Rinses that out, Oooh so SILKY! Then applies V05 Pina Colada rinses and combs back and applies some Loreal Vive Cream. She then does her infamous "scarf method" of airdrying and goes to sleep.

Our heroine wakes up to smooth silky airdryed hair and takes out her trusty NTM Serum and large barrel ceramic curling iron and commences to do her hair.

All the while she is snapping pictures like the PAPARAZZI! :Flahsssss

Ms. Kenesha gives the Phytorelaxer a 9, but mostly out of her own ineptitude!

Well it is about freaking time. I thought I was going to have to come to your job and make you type the review.... Now the pusha will sit back and wait for the flock.

Your hair came out FABULOUS!!!!

ETA: I am glad you had a good experience with your first (this is your first isn't it?) self relaxing experience.

No, Kaddy don't come and get me. My freaking boss kept bothering me from CA! Doesn't he know I have more important things to do, like upload pictures and write my phtyo review, the nerve of some people!

Not my first self-relaxing experience, but my first very informed self-relaxing experience. I've done it before all willy-nilly and never had great results like this! :)

Your hair looks good! Do you have some color in it? Will you use Phytorelaxer again? I'm thinking about making the switch too...

Well, I am glad you had a great experience. I didn't doubt the Phyto at all.
I agree though about those gloves in the box. I couldn't find the ones I had purchased to relaxed and I used them too. Let's just say it was a pain in the neck.
:p

A PHYTORELAXER WORLD!

I see you over there foxyb, you know you wanna try it.

You won't be disappointed. This is the best! I didn't get what my dad calls the "slick head onion" look you can get with other relaxers.

Hey don't laugh at my dad

How is the textures and tones? Is it semi permanent?

Looking good gurl!! :) Glad it was a success!!

Wow, makes me want to Phyto....!!

Your hair looks great! My Phytorelaxer should be here on the 2nd (though I don't think I'll relax until March - I'm trying to make it to 16 weeks!)!

Kenesha,

THANKS SO MUCH for posting a detailed review with PICTURES! :notworthy I particularly like how smooth and uniform your hair looks wet with no product.

I'm done sitting on the fence. It's Phytorelaxer next time.

I too get freaked out self-relaxing with lye, and I apply it in a panic. I think I could remain calm and systematic with this product.

Questions:
-Was there significant shedding or broken hairs during the application and rinse? I always lose more than I'm comfortable with when using lye.
-Was there any scalp irritation?
-How many minutes do you estimate it took for the application?
-Did the curl relax more QUICKLY or EASILY than with lye in the past, or did you have to do just as much smoothing?

Sorry if you answered some of it before. I'm just too excited.
