Driver\'s liscense beauty!

The first time I went for my provisional MD driver's liscense, I was sixteen and just so excited about taking the driving test that I didn't care what my hair looked like. I was sorry about that move for a year, as my hair was in a high ponytail that stuck up like a fountain. It was secured by an old scrunchie. I looked terrible, especially since it was a side view photo. Ever since, I vowed to do my hair and makeup before I renewed my dl. Well, it's time once again(gee I'm getting old) and I'm trying to decide what to do with my hair. I want to get it braided, but don't think it's a good idea for me to get my photo done with braids. In previous photos, I've had cascading curls, and wrap styles. Do any of you put this much thought into your dl renewal photos? Am I obsessing? Or am I merely safeguarding myself from the embarrassment of my local grocery cashier saying" boy, you sure look, well, differentin that picture"!

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

Nope. I hated my first picture. I looked like a tired geek. So with that said, my second picture was beautiful. I had on the right amount of makeup and my hair was out and down. It was only an inch past shoulderlength, but it was my best picture. The third picture I took is okay. I look older, and it isn't my best side, but it doesn't look anywhere as hideous as my first picture!

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

You are not obsessing girl. You have to live with that photo for 4 years. Betta make it real good. On my renewal day I make sure the hair and make-up is tight. I also get lots of compliments on my dl pic so I know I did a good job!

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

ITA. I dreaded my last picture. I was sick and sleepy, but I had to get it done that day because I was driving out of town. I hated pulling that thing out. My next picture, I made sure I did my hair, I put on makeup but kept it light because you never know. I think the right colored top in photos will also help. I wore a red top because it went well with my complexion and brightened up my face. The first time I wore my trusty navy blue pullover. Just horrible in photos.

Good to know I'm not alone. It's true though, even though you may look alittle out of place at the MVA among all those tee shirt wearing, tired and angry looking people, you'll be smiling when you've got a decent dl photo to whip out when you go to purchase all your salon hair products!

And I'm getting my 3rd one this week! My fiance is so through with me not being able to drive. I'm deathly afraid I'm going to die in a car accident if I drive!

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

My last DL picture I made sure my hair was done, I wore invisible braids (so it kind of looks like my hair). I curled the ends, so I was looking aight! Only thing is I probably look 12.

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

Ms. K,

What effect does the black shirt have? Sorry, if this is a dumb question--but I really don't know. Shoot, maybe I need to wear a black shirt next time ...

Re: Driver\'s liscense beauty!

Years ago, there waa a site that gave tips on taking good drivers license photos. But of course, I can not remember the site. However I do remember 2 of the tips--wear a dark colored shirt and wear a lot more make up then you would normally wear. I tried this tip when I got my license renewed and the woman taking the picture complimented me on how pretty she thought I looked. When the picture was snapped, she immediately let me take a look at it and it was lovely. Whenever I pull out my ID people are always telling me how beautiful the picture is.

I must have read the site that candycane did because I always wear a black shirt because they say wear a dark color. IMO wearing black frames my face and is a good color with my hair color and skin color to give that "look at my beautiful face look"

I'll scan my permit picture and post it in my picturetrail account.

I must have went to the same site. I didn't wear a dark shirt though, I wore a striped shirt but I did wear a lot of makeup. In my most recent picture, I wore a dark shirt, but I didn't wear any makeup. It didn't come out as nice. And my hair had begun to swell because I was natural compared to my relaxed hair I had in the previous license picture.
