Does your hair grow better with or without extentions?

My hair grows better with a weave. I love to change my look so having a weave as a protective stlye protects my real hair as I feed my addiction
 
It seems like whenever I take my hair down from a weave I have so much shedding ( I know a little is to be expected but...). This last time it was ridiculous, but that may be due to the fact that I was 4-5 months post when I got a weave that I left in for about 8 weeks. It was a hot mess. So I am using half wigs and clip ins to change up my hair looks from hear on out. I may do some cornrows (for 2 weeks max)if I am going on vacation to a place that requires me to get in water but other than that I'll be using wigs and clips to jazz my hair up.
 
i notice the growth more easily with box braids. everytime you take them out, you're hair is an inch or two longer.
 
I love wearing weaves while I'm growing my hair. With extensions, my hands are out of my hair, I'm not checking the length obsessively, and I can just grow it and forget about it, giving myself length surprises every 2-3 months.
 
For the most part I retain a lot more length with weave.

The only breakage I have is in crown area from constantly trying to cover my tracks.:drunk:
 
Either way my hair grows just fine.

I prefer extensions for the time being because then I do not manipulate my hair
 
I gave up extension (indefinately) in April. It was bitter sweet because with extensions, I manage to retain a lot of growth .... but with them, I lost my edges.

I may go back to them. I'd have to make sure I do them myself, because I have a hard time getting the lady who braids my to listen to how I want things done.

I'm definitely keen on trying yarn braids ... apparently they're not as harsh on the hair and help to retain moisture.
 
I've noticed that my hair grows so much faster with extensions. I know for sure it's because I'm not doing anything to my hair ( I have serious HIH diesease). Pre-LHCF I didn't really notice that my hair was growing so much, but now looking back at pictures and comparing my growth when I wore my extensions to now with no extensions my growth isn't as much.
 
I say with extensions due to minimal manipulation...
When my hair is out ALL I DO is mess with it
 
Yes it grows faster, but it sucks because it can pull on the ends and cause me to get a trim.... and lose a lot of that growth.... but it grows a lot... I think I know what the prob is, I need to switch it out sooner than 3mths, but my hair grows fast!! I am considering putting one in the middle or end of November... the bottom half of my hair, like a lil above my ear and down
 
I love my weaves lol. I've definately retained a lot of length with them. But at the same time, taking really good care of the hair underneath helps. And I have a great stylist (shout out to Reniece).
 
I used to get good growth with braids. My daughter (who is my personal stylist) use to do individual, pencil size braids. Same with a sew-in weave; until my last one. I bought cheap hair( l knew better just had a cheap moment!), and didn't moisturize iike I used to and ended up losing a lot of hair. For me, less manipulation, the more hair I can keep on my head.
 
I think my hair grows the same in or out of extensions, but I can monitor the growth better with extensions.
 
I retain more length when I wear extensions. I only relax twice a year if I can help it, so dealing with my texture border in between can really be tough. I also have Hand-In-Hair syndrome and when I have my own hair out and I'm constantly playing with it ! :naughty:

Wearing extensions allows me to hide my hair for months at a time. I spritz with coconut oil + Amla oil + a leave in condish + water regularly. And it allows me to switch up my style whenever I want, using heat without using heat on my hair :yep:

The only extensions I WON'T be using as a length retention aid again are braids. TOTALLY did a number on my already frail hairline :mad:
 
I'm not sure how to answer this question because it sounds so strange. I had a sew in last summer I couldn't really tell if I got any growth; but for some reason the months after I took it out I had the best growth of my life. I don't know what to account that to.
 
Prior to wearing braids and weaves, my hair would grow but i would have see through ends that I can't stand so I would always cut my hair. Know that I have been wearing braids and weaves I have retain length and my ends are more healthier. I will wear braids and weaves until I reach my goal.
 
My hair grows better with extensions (braids), mainly because I am not manipulating it; my hair likes when I leave it alone!
 
Lately my hair has grown better without extensions. My scalp breathes better without them too. I haven't had braided extensions in a year and I don't miss them. My hair grew out too fast for them so I don't see the purpose of getting them now.
 
Extensions tore my hair apart...:nono: lating off them is what started my haor journey...

Next time I get some I need some that arent as harsh on the strands as the typical ones...
 
most definitely with extensions. whaaaaa, when i was younger and would have my hair box-braided ... ahhh the growth. I'm in box-braids now and hopefully i get the same results smiley face.
 
I posted earlier that my hair grows faster with extensions but now that I think about it some more and watch my hair with extensions compaired to when I wear wigs - my hair thrives all around with the wigs. Now when I say all around, I mean thickness, health and length.

I noticed that I would get length with extensions but the length would be kinda weak somehow and broke easily when I removed them.

With wig wearing, I am better able to wash, treat, and condition my actual hair. I simply take the wig off and treat it as often as needed, even daily if I felt like it.

I still like to wear extention braids especially during times when I know I will not have any time to wash/cowash a couple of times a week. I like ayurveda pastes/tea rinses on my hair often and this haircare practice isn't easy when I have extensions in my hair.

I like just putting my own hair in big plaits and putting on my wig everyday. I wash, cowash and deep condition my hair while still in these big plaits hence, minimizing manipulation of my delicate strands as much as possible to avoid breakage.

I know what doesn't work for me and extensions do not work as well as wigs for me.
