You try a shampoo you dont like it ,what do you do ? You take it back to the store you ve bought it from right ?If you can ,go for it ,but is it really fair to do so ?should it really be the store s responsability to compensate you if you dont like a product they sell if is not manifactured by the and is not defective ?
I want to hear your opinions ..

I return it if it's horrible and I have no use for it. That's why I try to purchase from Sallys because they take just about anything back with no question.

If the store has a return policy, yes I would. That being said, I don't recall ever taken hair products back. I have with cosmetics though.

I have. If I am really not sure if I'm going to love it or hate it I purchase the product from Sally's or Whole foods because they let you return it.

But usually I just buy a sample of the product first before investing too much money.

The only thing I've returned is the Mizani Thermasmooth products because they were expensive and didn't work.

Many moons ago, when I worked in retail. Any returns went to the manufacturer for exchange...but I worked in a novelty store that sold mostly toys and other nonsense.

I haven't done it before...but don't feel bad if u do....returns that have been used like shampoos and things like that are poured out/destroyed. Some stores still get credit for a returned product. That's why the barcodes are so important.

I have returned products that I did not like as long as the store had a clear return policy. For example, Aveda doesn't offer samples or trial sizes for certain product lines. So the sales staff actually encourages you to purchase, use and return products if you don't like them.

Harmons Beauty is another store who has a similar policy like Aveda.

I have used the return policy at both stores once. I don't make it a habit of doing so and really try to purchase trial sizes or ask for samples before I purchase the full sized bottles.

If adding some oils doesn't fix the problem, I usually either find a person to give them to or just throw it away and chuck it up to a bad experience. I probably should go back to Whole Foods, Sephora, CVS, but I never do. I'd rather complain and whine LOL

I only returned two items (bought at the same time) back after using them. NTM shampoo and daily conditioner. They were expensive for the size in my opinion and did nothing for my hair. The shampoo dried out my strands really bad. I only used both products once, and a very small amount, so I didn't feel bad about returning it. I didn't have the intentions of trying it for free, but Walgreens had the return policy that I couldn't pass up.

I do at Sally's and Ulta where they have a try it and if you don't like it bring it back policy. The only thing I can remember having ever returned used was Sally's version of Mixed chicks.
Most things I'll use up till I finish them or mail it out to someone but that's why I buy a lot of sample sizes to get a feel for a product before I get stuck with 8~12 oz of something I don't really like.

Either way, I don't think you're taxing the stores since they send it back to the manufacturers for a credit. I don't see why I should have to swallow the costs for these much bigger fish.

umpf - in the UK we can't return any kind of product if it has been opened. The exception is of course if it is faulty in some way.
I have wasted sooo much money on hair products and foundations.

Yes I do. Sallys and Marshalls will get some of there products back. Its funny because I bought the Elasta QP Soy Oyl Ultra Conditioner. It comes in a big tub. While my sister was checking, I decided to smell the product. I don't buy stinky hair products :nono: Anywhoo, when I opened the jar, there was a hair in it :barf: So I took it back to the shelf and grabbed from the back, and inspected it before I bought it. I like enough to keep it, but not the shampoo or conditioner.

no. usually if its shampoo/conditioner or something similar.. I pass it to my dd.. her hair loves most of what mine doesnt-go figure

If a store advertises their liberal return policy, then I feel zero guilt about returning a product I don't like. Ulta, Sephora, and QVC are quick to say, "If you don't like it, you can send/bring it back," so I do.

I can't return anything to the BSS so I basically don't shop there anymore unless I'm picking up a staple.

I really like Aveda, but I haven't purchased from them in a long time because the one in the Houston Galleria gives the side-eye and sometimes downright says no to a product return. This happened to me twice. Once, I had used about 25% of the bottle. The other time, the product was unused - I just changed my mind the next day.

Since they have an attitude about honoring their own policies, I don't really like to shop there anymore....I might go back after I use some stuff up...I'm like, if you see I how much I have purchased (based on rewards points), why give me a hard time?...maybe it's just that location.

I dont go thru the hassle. For the most part none of my products are expensive enough for me to even be hurt by it. I did have to take that ORS Hair Mayo back to Walmart. That stuff was straight :barf: I wanted my $10 back with a quickness.

As a matter of fact, I purchased some cantu shea butter leave in from walgreens and if it sucks back to the store it will go.

I just returned stuff to Duane reade and two items to Rite aide. Why waste money on a product I dont like when I can purchase something I do like.

I am mad that I just gave my cousin some stuff when I found out (on this site) that I could have just returned them.

I decided the same thing last week

Please let me know if you have any problems with returns. The company policy is really pretty nice, so if you run into problems I would like to know. While I do not work or rep them in anyway, I know a few people that might be interested in this problem.
