Do Natural Hair Women Get Hit On?

wow....this article was over the top...however i do see his point....
when i used to wear weaves i got a different type of attention.....now that i'm just wearing my own hair, i've met plenty of men who LOVE natural hair...back when i was weavin it up i didn't even know they existed....
it's kinda weird....but i get less men tryin to hit and more men trying to converse and get to know me now that i'm natural....

I also hae met a lot of men who tell me.. "i LOOOOVE your hair!!!"....a guy i used to date used to always have his hand in my hair bc he loved it so much....even now when i see him around the way he give me a big hug and puts his hands through my hair....i think it's endearing....and it also encourages me to continue to be natural....:yep:

and to answer the question YES natural women get hit on!!!!

I actually get a lot more compliments and hit on a lot more with my natural hair.... I have three brothers and they always tell me that natural hair is not the problem .... its weaves they dont like .... I was kind of upset because I LOVE WEAVES ... but there argument was ... "why wear weaves if you can grow your own hair naturally .... #shrug"

I went to a club in Houston the other day. It was a 25 and up kinda atmosphere.

My conclusion: The chick with the biggest booty and the most skin showing gets the most attention. HOWEVER, a thirsty dude will holla at ANYthing!!

A girl came in with really big hair and all eyes were on her. I was mad it was a wig, tho. :ohwell:

We don't just get married, we get wifed up! lol. J/K but honestly I think that the quality of the men hitting on you should mean more than the quantity.

I would rather be hit on by one good man than ten wack ones.

Maybe some women are not getting hit on as much as a natural because they are not confident. If you are walking around face all frowned up then who would want to talk to you when you are acting all thug life?

Natural hair is sexy. It's soft and touchable. You can do so many things with it. Or you can do nothing at all and still be fly. It is high fashion. It is hip hop, rock, blues, and jazz. It is an artistic master piece that God gave to women strong enough to handle it. Thank God I was born a sista because even though we battle our manes we do have such versatile hair. I love it!

*Stanky legs her way down her soap box*

They are more open-minded and live by their own standards of beauty. They will take a woman either way, not one proposed way to look.

If a man only wants a girl with natural hair, doesn't that make him just as close minded?

ETA: nvm you said they will take either way

Ever since going natural I don't get hit on nearly as much as when I had a perm. I've always said natural women attract a different caliber of men.

Ok, I can honestly say I get less hollering as a kinky than when I wore a weave BUT I could care less because those aren't the kind of men I'm interested in anyway ;)

and I've always scratched my head at statements like this!
because it surely isn't the case for me.
I mean, yea, I get the Afrocentric black kangs who tryna take me back to Africa and ****. But I still attract some "thugs," wanna-be "rappers," etc.

I have never had a problem Relaxed or Natural getting any man I desire. I get the financial advisor on Wall Street, Artistic Crew, Professors as well as the thugs. I am married and got the best of all worlds wrapped into one

I am approached on a regular basis, and I am great for a gentle let down. I find no need to snub a person. :)

I think the confidence level I behold weather Natural or Relaxed shines through and men feel my energy.

That and a Wicked Smile LOL!

Got Henna in my hair and feeling great.

I still get hit on.. just not by black guys anymore. Mainly any guy who is not black. white, indian.. etc.
I think its a confidence thing too. Now I feel so much MORE confident in my own skin. My hair is big and wild like my personality and it all just 'fits'.

LOL but inquiring minds really go want to know!!!
The ones who don't like me just because my hair is relaxed, I wonder if they're even my type :look: Just saying

OMG, this is soooo true! Real talk, I've had two different guys tell me they prefer a woman with natural hair. I met one just last week. I had my hair straightened, but he thought it was natural. I was initially interested in him, but after his comment about preferring natural hair, and then his comments about staying home on a Friday night to drink wine and write poetry, I was like :ohwell:. The other guy I knew who preferred natural hair had long dreads and also wrote a lot of poetry :look:.

I don't really like "earthy" men who express particular preferences about women's hair. The funny thing is, both of these men met and pursued me with my hair straight, so, despite their so-called preferences, men will make exceptions.

I think its different for each individual....but....I totally agree that its more the entire package not just hair alone~

I don't even understand this question. I get hit on whether my hair is str8 or curly. Most guys seem to prefer it curly... I don't attract any different "caliber" of man or anything.

I would say that this is just my experience but none of the women in my family relax their hair and no one seems to have trouble attracting men.

BTW They range from type 2 hair to 4b so the "good hair" argument doesn't apply here.

I still get hit on...especially when I wear my hair in a huge puff. Well kept natural hair really makes you stand out to men (including the black ones). Although I think there are still a lot of them who prefer straight hair. :nono:

I definitely get hit on, but by different, more mature guys (which is what I like). I find that when I wear an afro, I don't get hit on as much. But if I've shingled, have mini-twists, twist-outs, or other unique styles, men don't see me any different.

For the record, I've been natural 3 months with a 6-month post-relaxer TWA.

I've been hit on wearing sweats while my hair was tied up in a scarf. Most men just don't care LOL!

For me it is about the same.

LOL Guys lose points when they hit on me when Im not havinng a stellar day ... like for real ?

I find that I get more calls like "empress" and "mama" now that Im natural and less attention from the 'preppy' crowd

I can't read this whole thread to see if any body made this joke: but what about all the "nappy-headed hoe's" from Don Imus' newscast? :lachen: Wow...all I really saw was "hoe's have perms."

I get more attention when my hair is in a wash-n-go or twist out. As long as its out, they love it. Puffs are OK. With buns it depends on if its a top, back or side bun. Not that I'm doing stats  but that what I notice. I don't live in an area where there's a lot of African Americans, but it doesn't really matter with them - they're just happy to see someone who looks like them.

Of course it depends on other factors. In terms of attention from men, more than anything, my weight/size has more to do with it. I did not get nearly as much attention when I was almost 50 lbs heavier. That's the sad reality.

I've actually had men approach me in the street to compliment my hair and ask me how the look was achieved. However, I get hit on no matter how my hair looks.

Ironically, I get more compliments from women when I straighten my hair. Some of them have even outright stated they prefer my hair straight. But I couldn't care less so... :)

I've been getting hit on more with my hair natural in a wash n go twa than I did with wigs/weaves
