**Dirty Thirty Challenge**

Dirty Thirty Challenge
This challenge is for people who are trying to grow through protective styles or stretches from relaxer and also sculpt their body through a healthier lifestyle.

Background
I just put myself on twist punishment b/c I was trying too many potions, and on top of that I am huge... So I told myself until I lost weight I was not allowed to do any of my cute wet sets... Especially since when I style my hair I make every effort to avoid sweat of all kinds!:perplexed
Then I told myself, I don't really want to be miserable, so I said when I work out for 30 days (not in a row) then I can wear a style that is not twists for a full week... then after that I will start the 30 days over again...
Considering that I just started exercising +/-5 days a week, it will most likely take me around 6 weeks to get to the point where I am allowed to crank out something sexy with my hair, and hopefully by then I will have lost at least 15 lbs if not more and achieved some kind of growth...

I call this... The Dirty Thirty Challenge... It rhymes... and I consider working out to be a dirty process... so hence... Dirty Thirty

I will be doing the Dirty Thirty until I lose 30 lbs and have reached a HEALTHY BSL. I am currently APL, but my ends are problematic... Soooo...

Here are the rules:


  1. Pick a protective style that will be presentable for life in the real world and also working out. For me twists are good cuz they keep me from having HIH syndrome.
  2. Pick an amount of days you will workout before you heat style/relax your hair again. I will be doing 30 days (not consecutive).
  3. Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal whether it be inches lost, weight gain, weight loss, arm jiggle loss... whatever... I will be doing this until I lose 30 lbs
  4. You may co-wash, DC, or whatever it is that you regularly do with your hair, but NO HEAT!!!!
  5. Your ends must be protected for most of the day. I wear my twists pinned up.
  6. Each work out must be at least 30 mins. long to count!!!
  7. Try not to be weight obsessed, the goal here is to get healthy.
  8. Try to eat healthier! Working out is no good without a healthy diet!
  9. You must still find a way to be your beautiful self! No slum-doggin it to work for this challenge! Protective styling can be beautiful!
  10. Post your goals for this challenge and your progress! Every week I'll do a roll call!
  11. Anyone can join at any time... I'm not gonna close this one... Heck I doubt anyone will even join LOL.

In case there is confusion... you do your 30 (or whatever amount) workouts, then you are allowed to heat style/ relax. That is one cycle... Then you keep going til you reach your goal!

Heaven knows I need to lose at least 25lbs and I want to join but right now lack the discipline to do it plus, my lifestyle is a bit hectic too. Give me a day or 2 to think about it some more and I will have an answer by then I believe.
 
coolness aggie... my sister is debating too lol... in face im questioning my own discipline lol except my twists are really easy to deal with...
remember though your workout days don't have to equal up to 30 can be 20, 15, whatevers best 4 u

Yahh I want to join!!! My first challenge since coming back full force. I am already doing this so what better way then to document it. I will try to update as much as possible. I have 6wk before I go back to OH for my grandmas bday party...I need to get it together...lol!! Good luck ladies

  1. Pick a protective style: Twist and twistout on special occasions
  2. Pick an amount of days you will workout I am training for a 1/2marathon in Oct so with my log I am suppose to be running 6days a wk. Started last wk and ran 5days. Will do yoga and wts in between
  3. Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal I need to lose at least 15lbs or down 2 dress sizes. I want to be able to put my hair in a puffy before my birthday (April)
  4. You may co-wash, DC, or whatever it is that you regularly do with your hair, but NO HEAT!!!! Already doing the NO HEAT
  5. Your ends must be protected for most of the day. Hair is not long enough to pin up when in twist but I cant wait for the day to be able to pull them back in a pony
  6. Each work out must be at least 30 mins. long to count!!! Run 3+ miles a day so that puts me around 30mins and will do wts and yoga for 45-60mins
  7. Try not to be weight obsessed, the goal here is to get healthy. Will try
  8. Try to eat healthier! A lot of tuna, salmon, smart ones, juicing, fruits and veggies. The whole month of Aug I am trying to stay away from chips.
  9. You must still find a way to be your beautiful self! Must find cute headbands, flowers, and hair accessories to jazz up my twist
  10. Post your goals for this challenge and your progress! Every week I'll do a roll call! Will subscribe

Well I was about to go jog outside but its pouring down raining...haha!!! No excuse I have a treadmil Im about to get on:strong:

Woah ur a beast! A marathon!!! OMG! I just started treadmilling I can't do it every day... College Gymnastics RUINED that for me lol... They made us run too often... I'm so scared now lol but I'm tryin it gives me the best results...
I'm a tuna freak how do u eat yours! I love salmon too but seared rare tuna is like crack to me LOL
And I like your hair it looks good on u =)
 
I want to join! This sounds fun! I was in ROTC in college and we had to workout for an hour at 6am MW and F. I was in shape, but my hair suffered. Since I graduated, I have not been working out like I used to, but I've been putting so much energy and time into my hair, why not treat my body the same way :grin:

1) Protective style: Phony bun for workouts/half wig or phony pony the rest of the time
2) Days to work out before my relaxer and trim: 30 non-consecutive days
3) Hair goal/body goal: No real length goal just yet but I know I can be full APL by the end of this year, I want my ends protected and my hair healthy/I want to get down to 160...thats about a loss of 25lbs
4) I co wash, DC, style, and do my whole regime with no heat anyway
5) How to protect ends: buns, baggy method, silk/satin scarves...my hair is always up
6) Each workout mush be 30 min: this is a tough one but I can do it!
7) Don't be weight obsessed: I will weigh my self only once a week
8) Eat healthier: I am doing the South Beach diet and I love it! It's more of a lifestyle change than a diet
9) Find a way to be your beautiful self: I love headbands and big earrings...i might even try some makeup
10) Post goals and progress: I will!

So we just need to work out for a total of 30 days for at least 30 min...and that is 1 cycle?

This is so awesome! I feel like 30 workouts might take me over 2 months...but thats plenty of time to see some growth because I am already 1 month post relaxer. Maybe this challenge will help me stretch!

girl, im with you :) let me know if i need to up my game....here's what i got planned...

1. Pick a protective style : twists in a ponytail
2. Pick an amount of days : this is not fair since i never use heat - so i'll say buy a new hair product and i'll give it 30 days (this excludes staples - i aint gonna not use conditioner for 5 days lol)
3. Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal i want to be firmer so that when i walk i can see my muscle flex :) lol

2. Pick an amount of days : 30 days but at least 5 in a row 3. Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal : My goal is just healthier hair health goal to fit in my old cloths.

Along with this I am finally going to do the Master Cleanse. I am not looking forward to this but it has to be done.

sounds awesome!! i want that line on my thigh by my knee to show when i walk lol know what im talkin about?
i like the idea of not buying another product cuz i need to do that too... i keep buying one and then using it like twice and then getting another... agh

40 mins walk/jog treadmill
30 mins learning Thriller choreography LOL

food
peach/ pineapple/ soy milk/ organic grade b maple syrup smoothie
salad w/ lettuce, tomatoes, avacado, hard boiled egg white
8 wings

hair
shea butter on the roots =)

Well no full marathon only a half:drunk:. I did one in 06 and talk about old gymnastic and cheer knees I got them this way too girl:wallbash: But I pushed it thru and I am about to kill myself for doing it again....lol!!! Its the only way to motivate me to run and thats the fastest thing to keep me in shape. And I ran 35mins out in the rain today. When I run outside I dont stop so I forced myself to go...it wasnt bad just a little wet...lol
I eat tuna raw or w/ a little bit of organic mayo, mustard and relish. Salmon raw or the package wild salmon from whole foods. They are like $5 for one but one to two a wk I try to do.

I've been eating healthier, but I have been on and off with exercise. I can't seem to stick with it. :ohwell: So, I am trying to make myself do it! If I can commit to 30 days at a time, maybe that will help...

No the package kind that I get is smoked so its ready to eat out of the package. Very good

No work out to day....Its a break day for me as well. I need to run and do wts tomorrow. Also tomorrow is grocery day so Im getting geared up for veggies and fruits to start juicing on the regular again.
 
IM IN!!!!! I already went walking for an hour today. I plan to drink a protein shake tonight.

YAY! Welcome Mrs. Fitness!
Ok today is day 3... I did 20 mins walk jog on the treadmill, 10 mins. of an undisclosed activity, I'm embarrassed but it was indeed cardio LOL
for lunch I had shrimp w/ garlic sauce and a mini serving of rice (u kno those lil things of rice... I was soooooo mad that I didn't get a big rice, but then I thought, less carbs, so I dealt with it)
and also for breakfast I had smoothie with Soy milk, pineapple, peach, ice, and grade b organic maple syrup like in master cleanse

And... u know how we always be like... my curls popped...
2day my SO was like "Hey girl, u know how u say all ur potions be makin ur curls pop... well whatever else you're doin is makin that booty pop"

I'm going to try a one week detox next week to jump start this. I think I'll change my goal to 30 days at a time instead of doing 3 months all at once. The flexi 8 clips are calling to me even though I have no clue what size would be best.

I might even invest in an exercise tape so I won't have an excuse if I can't or don't wanna go all the way to the gym.

what are flexi 8 clips??? and my leggies itch too after i jog that feeling makes me crazy but i try to think of it as little monsters eating my cottage cheese with bagels LOL
and p90x is pretty intense... i lost motivation for it though for some reason... its like 1 hr every freakin day lol

These are flexi 8. They're like barrettes to sum it up but I'm guessing less harmful on the hair. They're kinda pricey though Mwedzi with all her fabulous hair toys is making me a window shopper addict.

I'm I'm upping my water intake now. It's actually starting to taste good but that maybe the summer heat talking to me. I had straight tea with no additives today but it's an acquired taste. I can definitely taste the tea though. I'm going on the elliptical today and then maybe I'll browse the fitness section for more fitness video ideas. The chalean extreme seems to have good ravings about it I might buy resistance bands instead of weights to go with it though. I wonder is one better than another?
